Modeling dynamic volatility under uncertain environment with fuzziness and randomness

The problem related to predicting dynamic volatility in financial market plays a crucial role in many contexts. We build a new generalized Barndorff-Nielsen and Shephard (BN-S) model suitable for uncertain environment with fuzziness and randomness. This new model considers the delay phenomenon between price fluctuation and volatility changes, solves the problem of the lack of long-range dependence of classic models. Through the experiment of Dow Jones futures price, we find that compared with the classical model, this method effectively combines the uncertain environmental characteristics, which makes the prediction of dynamic volatility has more ideal performance

This paper models stochastic process of price time series of CSI 300 index in Chinese financial market, analyzes volatility characteristics of intraday high-frequency price data. In the new generalized Barndorff-Nielsen and Shephard model, the lag caused by asynchrony of market information is considered, and the problem of lack of long-term dependence is solved. To speed up the valuation process, several machine learning and deep learning algorithms are used to estimate parameter and evaluate forecast results. Tracking historical jumps of different magnitudes offers promising avenues for simulating dynamic price processes and predicting future jumps. Numerical results show that the deterministic component of stochastic volatility processes would always be captured over short and longer-term windows. Research finding could be suitable for influence investors and regulators interested in predicting market dynamics based on realized volatility

BackgroundIn recent years, studies on the clinical features and cognitive impairment of patients with different first-episode types of bipolar disorder have received increasing attention. The patients with bipolar disorder may present with different symptoms at first onset. The aim of this study is to assess the cognitive functions of a patient’s index episode of bipolar disorder, depression or mania, on risk factors of effecting on cognitive functions.MethodOne hundred sixty eight patients with bipolar disorder diagnosed for the first time were enrolled in the study. All patients were divided into two groups according to their index episode of bipolar disorder, either depression or mania. Seventy three patients of the cohort had an index episode mania and 95 patients had initial symptoms of depression. Demographic and clinical disease characteristic data of all enrolled patients were collected. Meanwhile, 75 healthy controls were included. Demographic data of controls were collected. The cognitive functions of all patients and controls were detected by continuous performance test (CPT), digital span test (DST) and Wisconsin card sorting test (WCST). The main cognitive functions data were compared among the mania group, depression group and control group. The relevant risk factors affecting cognitive function were analyzed.Results(1) Most patients with bipolar disorder had an index episode depression (56.55% vs. 43.45%). Compared with the depression group, the mania group had later age of onset [(24.01 ± 4.254) vs. (22.25 ± 6.472), t = 2. 122, p = 0.035]. The education level of patient groups was lower than control group (p < 0.001). (2) The healthy control group’s DST, WCST and CPT scores were better than the patient groups (All p < 0.05). The mania group’s DST (forward, reverse, sum), WCST (total responses, completed classifications, correct responses, incorrect responses, percentage of correct responses, completed the number of responses required for classification, the percentage of conceptualization level, the number of persistent responses, non-persistent errors), CPT (2 digit score, 3 digit score, 4 digit score) was better than the depression group (p < 0.05). (3) In mania group, correlation analysis showed that all CPT parameter, inverse digit span, and the sum of DST was negatively correlated with the education level (All p < 0.05). The CPT-4 digit score was negatively correlated with onset age (p < 0.05). In the WCST, the number of correct responses, the percentage of correct responses and the percentage of conceptualization level were positively correlated with the BRMS score (All p < 0.05). The number of false responses and persistent responses were negatively correlated with the BRMS score (All p < 0.05). The number of persistent errors and percentage of persistent errors was positively correlated with education years (All p < 0.05). In depression group, there was a positive correlation between inverse digit span and the education level (p < 0.05).ConclusionIn our study, there were cognitive impairments in attention, memory, and executive function of patients with different onset syndromes of bipolar disorder. Compared with the mania group, the degree of cognitive impairments in bipolar patients with the depressive episode was more severe. The risk factors affecting cognitive impairments included the age of onset, education level, number of hospitalizations and severity of illness

Influence of Solvent and Electrical Voltage on Cathode Plasma Electrolytic Deposition of Al2O3 Antioxidation Coatings on Ti-45Al-8.5Nb Alloys

Al2O3 coatings were prepared on Ti-45Al-8.5Nb alloys via cathodic plasma electrolysis deposition (CPED) in both 1.2 M Al(NO3)3 aqueous and ethanolic solutions. Different voltages were also applied during the deposition process to optimize coating properties. Coatings deposited in both solutions mainly consisted of γ-Al2O3, with some Al(OH)3 found in coatings prepared in aqueous solution. Coatings prepared in ethanol solution exhibited better oxidation resistance at 900 °C as well as better substrate adhesion, which was mainly due to smaller crater sizes on coating surfaces. The deposition process was discussed in detail and the reason for the smaller craters examined. The results suggested that solution surface tension mainly influenced the average diameter of hydrogen bubbles that formed on cathode surfaces during the process. Smaller bubbles lead to both lower current densities on cathodes and smaller crater sizes on coatings

Background and Purpose. Alterations in cholesterol homeostasis have been reported in cell and animal models of Parkinson’s disease (PD), although there are inconsistent data about the association between serum cholesterol levels and risk of PD. Here, we investigated the effects of miR-873 on lysosomal cholesterol homeostasis and progressive dopaminergic neuron damage in a lipopolysaccharide-(LPS) induced model of PD. Experimental Approach. To evaluate the therapeutic benefit of the miR-873 sponge, rats were injected with a LV-miR-873 sponge or the control vector 3 days before the right-unilateral injection of LPS into the substantia nigra (SN) pars compacta, or 8 and 16 days after LPS injection. Normal SH-SY5Y cells or SH-SY5Y cells overexpressing α-synuclein were used to evaluate the distribution of α-synuclein and cholesterol in lysosomes and to assess the autophagic flux after miR-873 transfection or ABCA1 silencing. The inhibition of miR-873 significantly ameliorated the LPS-induced accumulation of α-synuclein and loss of dopaminergic neurons in the SN at the early stage. miR-873 mediated the inhibition of ABCA1 by LPS. miR-873 transfection or ABCA1 silencing increased the lysosomal cholesterol and α-synuclein levels, and decreased the autophagic flux. The knockdown of ABCA1 or A20, which are the downstream target genes of miR-873, exacerbated the damage to LPS-induced dopaminergic neurons. Conclusion and Implications. The results suggest that the inhibition of miR-873 may play a dual protective role by improving intracellular cholesterol homeostasis and neuroinflammation in PD. The therapeutic effects of the miR-873 sponge in PD may be due to the upregulation of ABCA1 and A20

Control of soil organic carbon under karst landforms: A case study of Guizhou Province, in southwest China

Global karst landforms account for about 15 % of the land area. The development of karst landforms in southwest China accounts for>1/3 of the country's land area, and is considered to be an important carbon storage with considerable carbon sequestration potential to alleviate global warming. Clarifying the response mechanism of soil organic carbon (SOC) to different controlling factors is of great significance to formulate and implement regional carbon sink strategies. Based on 517 soil samples in Guizhou Province, this study used geostatistical methods to analyze the spatial heterogeneity of SOC in Guizhou Province. The effects of altitude, land use, soil type, slope direction, slope position, slope gradient and rock exposure rate on the spatial variability of SOC in karst areas were quantitatively compared by statistical analysis methods. The results showed that the mean value of SOC content in Guizhou Province was 19.59 g/kg, and the coefficient of variation was 69.11 %, showing moderate-intensity variation. Spatially, the SOC content in Guizhou Province showed a declining trend from west to east, with the low-value areas predominantly distributed in the south and north areas. The semi-variogram model showed that the nugget coefficient C0/(C0 + C) was  slope gradient (0.255) > rock exposure rate (0.166) > land use (0.08) > slope position (0.059) > slope direction (0.043) > soil type (0.041). This research suggests that the provincial government should pay attention to the control of rocky desertification and the development of modern low-carbon agriculture in the work of increasing soil carbon sequestration
