In an Attempt to Introduce Long-range Interactions into Small-world Networks
Distinguishing the long-range bonds with the regular ones, the critical
temperature of the spin-lattice Guassian model built on two typical Small-world
Networks (SWNs) is studied. The results show much difference from the classical
case, and thus may induce some more accurate discussion on the critical

Relativistic corrections to the Pionium Lifetime
Next to leading order contributions to the pionium lifetime are considered
within non-relativistic effective field theory. A more precise determination of
the coupling constants is then needed in order to be consistent with the
relativistic pion-pion scattering amplitude which can be obtained from chiral
perturbation theory. The relativistic correction is found to be 4.1% and
corresponds simply to a more accurate value for the non-relativistic decay

Radiative corrections to the Casimir force and effective field theories
Radiative corrections to the Casimir force between two parallel plates are
considered in both scalar field theory of one massless and one massive field
and in QED. Full calculations are contrasted with calculations based on
employing ``boundary-free'' effective field theories. The difference between
two previous results on QED radiative corrections to the Casimir force between
two parallel plates is clarified and the low-energy effective field theory for

Induced Growth of Asymmetric Nanocantilever Arrays on Polar Surfaces

Longer and wider "comblike" nanocantilever arrays are grown from the (0001)-Zn surface, which is suggested to be a self-catalyzed process due to the enrichment of Zn at the growth front. The chemically inactive
(0001)-O surface typically does not initiate any growth, but controlling experimental conditions could lead to the growth of shorter and narrower nanocantilevers from the intersections between (0001)-O with (0110) surfaces
Time-Periodic Solutions of the Einstein's Field Equations II
In this paper, we construct several kinds of new time-periodic solutions of
the vacuum Einstein's field equations whose Riemann curvature tensors vanish,
keep finite or take the infinity at some points in these space-times,
respectively. The singularities of these new time-periodic solutions are
investigated and some new physical phenomena are found. The applications of

New Results for Diffusion in Lorentz Lattice Gas Cellular Automata
New calculations to over ten million time steps have revealed a more complex
diffusive behavior than previously reported, of a point particle on a square
and triangular lattice randomly occupied by mirror or rotator scatterers. For
the square lattice fully occupied by mirrors where extended closed particle
orbits occur, anomalous diffusion was still found. However, for a not fully
occupied lattice the super diffusion, first noticed by Owczarek and Prellberg
for a particular concentration, obtains for all concentrations. For the square
lattice occupied by rotators and the triangular lattice occupied by mirrors or
rotators, an absence of diffusion (trapping) was found for all concentrations,
except on critical lines, where anomalous diffusion (extended closed orbits)
occurs and hyperscaling holds for all closed orbits with {\em universal}
exponents and . Only one point on these critical lines can be related to a
corresponding percolation problem. The questions arise therefore whether the
other critical points can be mapped onto a new percolation-like problem, and of

Marketing strategy for small application service providers in a new market
Small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) including small application service providers (ASPs) are playing an increasingly important role in the development of global economies particularly in developing countries like China. This paper studies marketing strategies of small application service providers (ASP) with a focus on what the important factors are to establish a new ASP business in China. An analytical hierarchy process (AHP) method is used to analyse critical factors of the ASP industry. The research surveyed CEOs or senior managers who are working in ASP firms, to identify how a marketing strategy can be developed for an ASP firm to start business in China. It is found that the localisation of middle level managers, the localisation of products and services, the protection of intellectual property (IP), and infrastructure and transportation system are the most important factors for small ASP firms to do business in China.<br /
Road Vehicle Detection and Classification Using Magnetic Field Measurement
© 2013 IEEE. This paper presents a road vehicle recognition and classification approach for intelligent transportation systems. This approach uses a roadside installed low-cost magnetometer and associated data collection system. The system measures the magnetic field changing, detects passing vehicles, and recognizes vehicle types. We introduce Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCC) to analyze vehicle magnetic signals and extract it as vehicle feature with the representation of cepstrum, frame energy, and gap cepstrum of magnetic signals. We design a 3-dimensional map algorithm using Vector Quantization (VQ) to classify vehicle magnetic features to 4 typical types of vehicles in Australian suburbs: sedan, van, truck, and bus. In order to train an accurate classifier, training samples are selected using the Dynamic Time Warping (DTW). The verification experiments show that our approach achieves a high level of accuracy for vehicle detection and classification
Aberrant posterior cingulate connectivity classify first-episode schizophrenia from controls: A machine learning study
Background Posterior cingulate cortex (PCC) is a key aspect of the default mode network (DMN). Aberrant PCC functional connectivity (FC) is implicated in schizophrenia, but the potential for PCC related changes as biological classifier of schizophrenia has not yet been evaluated. Methods We conducted a data-driven approach using resting-state functional MRI data to explore differences in PCC-based region- and voxel-wise FC patterns, to distinguish between patients with first-episode schizophrenia (FES) and demographically matched healthy controls (HC). Discriminative PCC FCs were selected via false discovery rate estimation. A gradient boosting classifier was trained and validated based on 100 FES vs. 93 HC. Subsequently, classification models were tested in an independent dataset of 87 FES patients and 80 HC using resting-state data acquired on a different MRI scanner. Results Patients with FES had reduced connectivity between PCC and frontal areas, left parahippocampal regions, left anterior cingulate cortex, and right inferior parietal lobule, but hyperconnectivity with left lateral temporal regions. Predictive voxel-wise clusters were similar to region-wise selected brain areas functionally connected with PCC in relation to discriminating FES from HC subject categories. Region-wise analysis of FCs yielded a relatively high predictive level for schizophrenia, with an average accuracy of 72.28% in the independent samples, while selected voxel-wise connectivity yielded an accuracy of 68.72%. Conclusion FES exhibited a pattern of both increased and decreased PCC-based connectivity, but was related to predominant hypoconnectivity between PCC and brain areas associated with DMN, that may be a useful differential feature revealing underpinnings of neuropathophysiology for schizophrenia
