Protein folding in hydrophobic-polar lattice model: a flexible ant colony optimization approach
This paper proposes a flexible ant colony (FAC) algorithm for solving protein folding problems based on the hydrophobic-polar square lattice model. Collaborations of novel pheromone and heuristic strategies in the proposed algorithm make it more effective in predicting structures of proteins compared with other state-of-the-art algorithms
Performance of Photosensors in the PandaX-I Experiment
We report the long term performance of the photosensors, 143 one-inch
R8520-406 and 37 three-inch R11410-MOD photomultipliers from Hamamatsu, in the
first phase of the PandaX dual-phase xenon dark matter experiment. This is the
first time that a significant number of R11410 photomultiplier tubes were
operated in liquid xenon for an extended period, providing important guidance
to the future large xenon-based dark matter experiments.Comment: v3 as accepted by JINST with modifications based on reviewers'

A mean field approach for string condensed states
We describe a mean field technique for quantum string (or dimer) models.
Unlike traditional mean field approaches, the method is general enough to
include string condensed phases in addition to the usual symmetry breaking
phases. Thus, it can be used to study phases and phases transitions beyond
Landau's symmetry breaking paradigm. We demonstrate the technique with a simple
example: the spin-1 XXZ model on the Kagome lattice. The mean field calculation
predicts a number of phases and phase transitions, including a z=2 deconfined
quantum critical point.Comment: 10 pages + appendix, 15 figure
Wireless pressure sensor system for fish quality monitoring
Food quality monitoring is increasingly important. This paper aims to propose the developed wireless pressure sensor system (WPSS) for fish quality monitoring. WPSS consists of a sensor acquisition module, power supply module, and Bluetooth module. The sensor acquisition module includes a temperature sensor, pressure sensor, and microcontroller unit (MCU). When Bluetooth receives the data collection command from the smartphone, the data of storage temperature and pressure in the food package can be collected by the sensor and transmitted wirelessly to the smartphone through Bluetooth. All data obtained by the system is monitored, stored, processed, and eventually displayed in a smartphone app in real-time to improve temperature, air pressure, and freshness transparency within the food package, ultimately ensuring food quality and safety. The proposed WPSS has potential application in many kinds of food monitoring. It can realize simple and intuitive food quality indications
Dynamical behavior of interacting dark energy in loop quantum cosmology
The dynamical behaviors of interacting dark energy in loop quantum cosmology
are discussed in this paper. Based on defining three dimensionless variables,
we simplify the equations of the fixed points. The fixed points for interacting
dark energy can be determined by the Friedmann equation coupled with the
dynamical equations {in Einstein cosmology}. But in loop quantum cosmology,
besides the Friedmann equation, the conversation equation also give a constrain
on the fixed points. The difference of stability properties for the fixed
points in loop quantum cosmology and the ones in Einstein cosmology also have
been discussed.Comment: 7 pages, 5 figure
