Non-disturbance criteria of quantum measurements
Using the general sequential product proposed by Shen and Wu in [J. Phys. A:
Math. Theor. 42, 345203, 2009], we derive three criteria for describing
non-disturbance between quantum measurements that may be unsharp with such new
sequential products, which generalizes Gudder's results
Faster Information Propagation on Highways: a Virtual MIMO Approach
In vehicular communications, traffic-related information should be spread
over the network as quickly as possible to maintain a safe and reliable
transportation system. This motivates us to develop more efficient information
propagation schemes. In this paper, we propose a novel cluster-based
cooperative information forwarding scheme, in which the vehicles
opportunistically form virtual antenna arrays to boost one-hop transmission
range and therefore accelerate information propagation along the highway. Both
closed-form results of the transmission range gain and the improved Information
Propagation Speed (IPS) are derived and verified by simulations. It is observed
that the proposed scheme demonstrates the most significant IPS gain in moderate
traffic scenarios, whereas too dense or too sparse vehicle density results in
less gain. Moreover, it is also shown that increased mobility offers more
contact opportunities and thus facilitates information propagation.Comment: IEEE 2014 Global Telecommunications Conference (GLOBECOM 2014) -

Numerical investigation of the radial quadrupole and scissors modes in trapped gases
The analytical expressions for the frequency and damping of the radial quadrupole and scissors modes, as obtained from the method of moments, are limited to the harmonic potential. In addition, the analytical results may not be suciently accurate as an average relaxation time is used and the high-order moments are ignored. Here, we propose to numerically solve the Boltzmann model equation in the hydrodynamic, transition, and collisionless regimes to study mode frequency and damping. When the gas is trapped by the harmonic potential, we nd that the analytical expressions underestimate the damping in the transition regime. In addition, we demonstrate that the numerical simulations are able to provide reasonable predictions for the collective oscillations in the Gaussian potentials
On the circumradius of a special class of n-simplices
An n-simplex is called circumscriptible (or edge-incentric) if there is a
sphere tangent to all its n(n + 1)/2 edges. We obtain a closed formula for the
radius of the circumscribed sphere of the circumscriptible n-simplex, and also
prove a double inequality involving the circumradius and the edge-inradius of
such simplices. Among this inequality settles affirmatively a part of a problem
posed by the authors.Comment: 11 page
