An Accounting Framework on Federated Service-Oriented Architecture

    Get PDF
Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) is used in more and more scientific and business applications. But self-examination and adaptation are overlooked by most system designers. Extant service accounting functionalities mainly focus on error causes, which are insufficient for history analysis and event prediction. This paper not only analyzes system events from both service consumers and providers, but also, starting from Maslow's needs hierarchy, provides a layered accounting framework for service federations. More than that, in matching and prediction model, a pipeline approach is employed rather than deterministic finite automaton (DFA), and a dependence estimator algorithm is introduced avoiding the deficiency in naive Bayes network for machine-learning and prediction. And then, based on these modules, a self-healing layer is built up to achieve decomposing, ranking, re-composing functionalities

An Innovative Simulation Environment for Cross-Domain Policy Enforcement

    Get PDF
Policy-based management is necessary for cross-domain organization collaborations and system integrations. In reality different systems from different organizations or domains have very different high-level policy representations and low-level enforcement mechanisms. To ensure the compatibility and enforceability of one policy set in another domain, a simulation environment is needed prior to actual policy deployment and enforcement code development. The goal of this paper is to propose an enforcement architecture and develop a simulation framework for cross-domain policy enforcement. The entire environment is used to simulate the problem of enforcing policies across domain boundaries when permanent or temporary collaborations have to span multiple domains. The middleware derived from this simulation environment can also be used to generate policy enforcement components directly for permanent integration or temporary interaction

Prevent Privacy Leakage in Mobile Social Networks -- A Privacy Policy Conflict Detection Framework

    Get PDF
Mobile social networks give online social networking sites the abilities to extend their services to mobile device users. Smart phones and tablets allow users to interact with others when they are moving. Policy-based management simplifies the management of interaction functionalities by establishing policies to control various activities involved in these functionalities. To detect and resolve potential dynamic conflicts between the rules and configurations from different administrative domains, a knowledge-based policy analysis framework is proposed this paper. It incorporates relationships between different elements in policy rules into temporal logic using a semantic extension, which makes dynamic policy conflict analysis more accurate. A prototype system for mobile social networks is implemented to illustrate the capability of this framework

Policy Conflict Analysis in Social Network

Temporal logic has been well studied for decades, and its logic expressions are used in many reasoning system. However, the information explosion makes logic reasoning becomes harder and harder. There are a lot of information have to be considered in logic reasoning. Relationships and related information make temporal logic cannot easily specify an information domain. Knowledge becomes a basis of information analysis. We propose a Semantic Temporal Logic, which incorporates relationships between different elements in a specific knowledge domain into temporal logic using a semantic format to represent domain elements

More Reliable Cloud Systems- A System Accounting Approach

    Get PDF
Cloud computing has attracted more and more attention and has been used in more and more applications in many different fields. As we know, cloud computing delivers computing as a service. Its adoption widely depends upon the reliability of its systems. However, self-monitoring and adaptation are overlooked by most system designers and architects. Extant system accounting functionalities mainly focus on recent error causes, which is insufficient for long-term history analysis and event prediction. Our approach not only analyzes system events from both service consumers and providers, but also provides a layered composable system accounting framework in cloud computing environments. By self-monitoring, history analysis, event prediction and recovery, a new refined quality of reliability (QoR) for cloud computing is essentially provided. An implementation of this framework in an education services environment confirms the advantages over extant system accounting systems

    3D Hand Pose Detection

    Get PDF
Hand pose detection is one of the new important research fields, especially because of its applications in the field of human machine interaction. It benefits deaf and mute people, who cannot use voice recognition systems. The main target of this paper is to design an intelligent, autonomous system that can be used for hand pose detection. The input to the system is from Microsoft Kinect's sensor for depth and color images, and the output is the hand pose that optimally matches the hand in the input image
