Real Scalar Field Scattering with Polynomial Approximation around Schwarzschild-de Sitter Black-hole
As one of the fitting methods, the polynomial approximation is effective to
process sophisticated problem. In this paper, we employ this approach to handle
the scattering of scalar field around the Schwarzschild-de Sitter black-hole.
The complex relationship between tortoise coordinate and radial coordinate is
replaced by the approximate polynomial. The Schrdinger-like equation,
the real boundary conditions and the polynomial approximation construct a full
Sturm-Liouville type problem. Then this boundary value problem can be solved
numerically according to two limiting cases: the first one is the Nariai
black-hole whose horizons are close to each other, the second one is when the
horizons are widely separated. Compared with previous results (Brevik and
Tian), the field near the event horizon and cosmological horizon can have a

Unification of Radio Galaxies and Their Accretion/Jet Properties
We investigate the relation between black hole mass, M_bh, and jet power,
Q_jet, for a sample of BL Lacs and radio quasars. We find that BL Lacs are
separated from radio quasars by the FR I/II dividing line in M_bh-Q_jet plane,
which strongly supports the unification scheme of FR I/BL Lac and FR II/radio
quasar. The Eddington ratio distribution of BL Lacs and radio quasars exhibits
a bimodal nature with a rough division at L_bol/L_Edd~0.01, which imply that
they may have different accretion modes. We calculate the jet power extracted
from advection dominated accretion flow (ADAF), and find that it require
dimensionless angular momentum of black hole j~0.9-0.99 to reproduce the
dividing line between FR I/II or BL Lac/radio quasar if dimensionless accretion
rate mdot=0.01 is adopted, which is required by above bimodal distribution of
Eddington ratios. Our results suggest that black holes in radio galaxies are

The d' dibaryon in the quark-delocalization, color-screening model
We study the questions of the existence and mass of the proposed dibaryon in the quark-delocalization, color-screening model
(QDCSM). The transformation between physical and symmetry bases has been
extended to the cases beyond the SU(2) orbital symmetry. Using parameters fixed
by baryon properties and scattering, we find a mild attraction in the
channel, but it is not strong enough to form a deeply bound state
as proposed for the state. Nor does the (isospin) I=2 N
configuration have a deeply bound state. These results show that if a narrow

Extended states in 1D lattices: application to quasiperiodic copper-mean chain
The question of the conditions under which 1D systems support extended
electronic eigenstates is addressed in a very general context. Using real space
renormalisation group arguments we discuss the precise criteria for determining
the entire spertrum of extended eigenstates and the corresponding
eigenfunctions in disordered as well as quasiperiodic systems. For purposes of
illustration we calculate a few selected eigenvalues and the corresponding
extended eigenfunctions for the quasiperiodic copper-mean chain. So far, for
the infinite copper-mean chain, only a single energy has been numerically shown
to support an extended eigenstate [ You et al. (1991)] : we show analytically
that there is in fact an infinite number of extended eigenstates in this

Phenomenological study of hadron interaction models
We present a phenomenological study of three models with different effective
degrees of freedom: a Goldstone Boson Exchange (GBE) model which is based on
quark-meson couplings, the quark delocalization, color screening model (QDCSM)
which is based on quark-gluon couplings with delocalized quark wavefunctions,
and the Fujiwara-Nijmegen (FN) mixed model which includes both quark-meson and
quark-gluon couplings. We find that for roughly two-thirds of 64 states
consisting of pairs of octet and decuplet baryons, the three models predict
similar effective baryon-baryon interactions. This suggests that the three very
different models, based on different effective degrees of freedom, are
nonetheless all compatible with respect to baryon spectra and baryon-baryon
interactions. We also discuss the differences between the three models and

Increasing incidence of hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome could be associated with livestock husbandry in Changchun, Northeastern China
Background: Since the end of the 1990s, the incidence of hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) has been increasing dramatically in Changchun, northeastern China. However, it is unknown which, and how, underlying risk factors have been involved in the reemergence of the disease.Methods: Data on HFRS cases at the county scale were collected from 1998 to 2012. Data on livestock husbandry including the numbers of large animals (cattle, horses, donkeys and mules), sheep, and deer, and on climatic and land cover variables were also collected. Epidemiological features, including the spatial, temporal and human patterns of disease were characterized. The potential factors related to spatial heterogeneity and temporal trends were analyzed using standard and time-series Poisson regression analysis, respectively.Results: Annual incidence varied among the 10 counties. Shuangyang County in southeastern Changchun had the highest number of cases (1,525 cases; 35.9% of all cases), but its population only accounted for 5.6% of the total population. Based on seasonal pattern in HFRS incidence, two epidemic phases were identified. One was a single epidemic peak at the end of each year from 1988 to 1997 and the other consisted of dual epidemic peaks at both the end and the beginning of each year from 1998 to the end of the study period. HFRS incidence was higher in males compared to females, and most of the HFRS cases occurred in peasant populations. The results of the Poisson regression analysis indicated that the spatial distribution and the increasing incidence of HFRS were significantly associated with livestock husbandry and climate factors, particularly with deer cultivation.Conclusions: Our results indicate that the re-emergence of HFRS in Changchun has been accompanied by changing seasonal patterns over the past 25 years. Integrated measures focusing on areas related to local livestock husbandry could be helpful for the prevention and control of HFRS
Characterizing temporary hydrological regimes at a European scale
Monthly duration curves have been constructed from climate data across Europe to help address the relative frequency of ecologically critical low flow stages in temporary rivers, when flow persists only in disconnected pools in the river bed. The hydrological model is 5 based on a partitioning of precipitation to estimate water available for evapotranspiration and plant growth and for residual runoff. The duration curve for monthly flows has then been analysed to give an estimate of bankfull flow based on recurrence interval. The corresponding frequency for pools is then based on the ratio of bank full discharge to pool flow, arguing from observed ratios of cross-sectional areas at flood 10 and low flows to estimate pool flow as 0.1% of bankfull flow, and so estimate the frequency of the pool conditions that constrain survival of river-dwelling arthropods and fish. The methodology has been applied across Europe at 15 km resolution, and can equally be applied under future climatic scenarios
Effects of the field modulation on the Hofstadter's spectrum
We study the effect of spatially modulated magnetic fields on the energy
spectrum of a two-dimensional (2D) Bloch electron. Taking into account four
kinds of modulated fields and using the method of direct diagonalization of the
Hamiltonian matrix, we calculate energy spectra with varying system parameters
(i.e., the kind of the modulation, the relative strength of the modulated field
to the uniform background field, and the period of the modulation) to elucidate
that the energy band structure sensitively depends on such parameters:
Inclusion of spatially modulated fields into a uniform field leads occurrence
of gap opening, gap closing, band crossing, and band broadening, resulting
distinctive energy band structure from the Hofstadter's spectrum. We also
discuss the effect of the field modulation on the symmetries appeared in the

A note on the Hawking radiation calculated by the quasi-classical tunneling method
Since Parikh and Wilczek's tunneling method was proposed, there have been
many generalizations, such as its application to massive charged particles'
tunneling and other spacetimes. Moreover, a variant tunneling method was also
recently proposed by Angheben et al that it was independent of coordinates.
However, there are some subtleties in the calculation of Hawking radiation, and
particularly is the so-called factor of 2 problem during calculating the
Hawking temperature. The most popular opinion on this problem is that it is
just a problem of the choice of coordinates. However, following other
treatments we show that we can also consider this problem as a problem that we
do not consider the contribution from P(absorption). Moreover, we also give
some subtleties in the balance method and some comparisons with other
treatments. In addition, as Parikh and Wilczek's original works have showed
that if one takes the tunneling particles' back-reaction into account, the
Hawking radiation would be modified, and this modification is underlying
consistent with the unitary theory, we further find that this modification is
also underlying correlated with the laws of black hole thermodynamics.
Furthermore, we show that this tunneling method may be valid just when the
tunneling process is reversible.Comment: version to appear in MPL
