Spin polarization amplification within nonmagnetic semiconductors at room temperature

We demonstrate theoretically that the spin polarization of current can be electrically amplified within nonmagnetic semiconductors by exploiting the fact the spin current, compared to the charge current, is weakly perturbed by electric driving forces. As a specific example, we consider a T-shaped current branching geometry made entirely of a nonmagnetic semiconductor, where the current is injected into one of the branches (input branch) and splits into the other two branches (output branches). We show that when the input current has a moderate spin polarization, the spin polarization in one of the output branches can be higher than the spin polarization in the input branch and may reach 100% when the relative magnitudes of current-driving electric fields in the two output branches are properly tuned. The proposed amplification scheme does not use ferromagnets or magnetic fields, and does not require low temperature operation, providing an efficient way to generate a highly spin polarized current in nonmagnetic semiconductors at room temperature.Comment: 11 pages, 2 figures, to appear in Phys. Current-induced domain wall motion in a nanowire with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy

We study theoretically the current-induced magnetic domain wall motion in a metallic nanowire with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy. The anisotropy can reduce the critical current density of the domain wall motion. We explain the reduction mechanism and identify the maximal reduction conditions. This result facilitates both fundamental studies and device applications of the current- induced domain wall motion

Current-Induced Magnetic Domain-Wall Motion by Spin Transfer Torque: Collective Coordinate Approach with Domain-Wall Width Variation

The spin transfer torque generated by a spin-polarized current can induce the shift of the magnetic domain-wall position. In this work, we study theoretically the current-induced domain-wall motion by using the collective coordinate approach [Gen Tatara and Hiroshi Kohno, Phys. Rev. Lett. 92, 86601 (2004)]. The approach is extended to include not only the domain-wall position and the polarization angle changes but also the domain-wall width variation. It is demonstrated that the width variation affects the critical current.Comment: 13 pages, 3 figure

A Design of MAC Model Based on the Separation of Duties and Data Coloring: DSDC-MAC

Among the access control methods for database security, there is Mandatory Access Control (MAC) model in which the security level is set to both the subject and the object to enhance the security control. Legacy MAC models have focused only on one thing, either confidentiality or integrity. Thus, it can cause collisions between security policies in supporting confidentiality and integrity simultaneously. In addition, they do not provide a granular security class policy of subjects and objects in terms of subjects\u27 roles or tasks. In this paper, we present the security policy of Bell_LaPadula Model (BLP) model and Biba model as one complemented policy. In addition, Duties Separation and Data Coloring (DSDC)-MAC model applying new data coloring security method is proposed to enable granular access control from the viewpoint of Segregation of Duty (SoD). The case study demonstrated that the proposed modeling work maintains the practicality through the design of Human Resources management System. The proposed model in this study is suitable for organizations like military forces or intelligence agencies where confidential information should be carefully handled. Furthermore, this model is expected to protect systems against malicious insiders and improve the confidentiality and integrity of data

Lane Departure Detecting with Classification of Roadway Based on Bezier Curve Fitting Using DGPS/GIS

Lane departure warning system plays an important role in safety driving by detecting a departure from a lane that is inadvertently operated on the driving trajectory. This paper suggestion detection algorithm when a vehicle departs lane boundary using GIS based on DGPS in the whole roadways. Lane segments obtained from the GIS are calculated their relative distances based on the vehicle position. Lane segments consist of consecutive straight lines and have a steady numerical error of design. In the curved section, the numerical error is bigger due to the characteristics. Accurate information about lane segments is required to reduce errors. Bezier curves are one way to extract lane segments from a curved section. The proposed lane departure algorithm is processed in two ways according to the lane type. Firstly, roads should be classified as lane type with straight and curved sections. Intersection points (IP) algorithm can easily classify the curve segments. Classified lane segments handle arithmetic relative distances for each algorithm. The lane segment of the base boundary, which is a straight lane section, has a virtual line based on the requirements of ISO 17361. The overlap area, consisting of a curve lane section and a Bezier curve, calculates the departure distance through the continuity of the driving characteristic and determines the lane departure from the curved roadways. To verify the proposed algorithm, the lane departure test led to two lane departures on each roadway. The comparison between visual sight and the departure alarm shows the driver within 0.1 second

Prevention of Undesirable Isomerization during Olefin Metathesis

    Get PDF
1,4-Benzoquinones have been found to prevent olefin isomerization of a number of allylic ethers and long-chain aliphatic alkenes during ruthenium-catalyzed olefin metathesis reactions. Electron-deficient benzoquinones are the most effective additives for the prevention of olefin migration. This mild, inexpensive, and effective method to block olefin isomerization increases the synthetic utility of olefin metathesis via improvement of overall product yield and purity
