A Spectral Line Survey from 138.3 to 150.7 GHZ toward Orion-KL
We present the results of a spectral line survey from 138.3 to 150.7 GHz
toward Orion-KL. The observations were made using the 14 m radio telescope of
Taeduk Radio Astronomy Observatory. Typical system temperatures were between
500 and 700 K, with the sensitivity between K in units of .
A total of 149 line spectra are detected in this survey. Fifty lines have
been previously reported, however we find 99 new detections. Among these new
lines, 32 are `unidentified', while 67 are from molecular transitions with
known identifications. There is no detection of H or He recombination lines.
The identified spectra are from a total of 16 molecular species and their
isotopic variants. In the range from 138.3 to 150.7 GHz, the strongest spectral
line is the J=3-2 transition of CS molecule, followed by transitions of the
, , , and . Spectral lines from
the large organic molecules such as , , , and are prominent; with 80 % of the
identified lines arising from transitions of these molecules. The rotational
temperatures and column densities are derived using the standard rotation
diagram analysis for (), , and with and . These estimates are fairly comparable to the values for the

Chiral magnetoresistance in Pt/Co/Pt zigzag wires
The Rashba effect leads to a chiral precession of the spins of moving
electrons while the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction (DMI) generates
preference towards a chiral profile of local spins. We predict that the
exchange interaction between these two spin systems results in a 'chiral'
magnetoresistance depending on the chirality of the local spin texture. We
observe this magnetoresistance by measuring the domain wall (DW) resistance in
a uniquely designed Pt/Co/Pt zigzag wire, and by changing the chirality of the
DW with applying an in-plane magnetic field. A chirality-dependent DW
resistance is found, and a quantitative analysis shows a good agreement with a
theory based on the Rashba model. Moreover, the DW resistance measurement
allows us to independently determine the strength of the Rashba effect and the
DMI simultaneously, and the result implies a possible correlation between the
Rashba effect, the DMI, and the symmetric Heisenberg exchange
Holographic interacting dark energy in the braneworld cosmology
We investigate a model of brane cosmology to find a unified description of
the radiation-matter-dark energy universe. It is of the interacting holographic
dark energy with a bulk-holographic matter . This is a five-dimensional
cold dark matter, which plays a role of radiation on the brane. Using the
effective equations of state instead of the
native equations of state , we show that this model
cannot accommodate any transition from the dark energy with to the phantom regime . Furthermore, the case of interaction between cold dark matter and
five dimensional cold dark matter is considered for completeness. Here we find
that the redshift of matter-radiation equality is the same order
as . Finally, we obtain
a general decay rate which is suitable for describing all interactions

Distribution of Abdominal Obesity and Fitness Level in Overweight and Obese Korean Adults
Background. Abdominal obesity and its relative distribution are known to differ in association with metabolic characteristics and cardiorespiratory fitness. This study aimed to determine an association between fitness level and abdominal adiposity in overweight and obese adults. Methods. 228 overweight and obese individuals were classified as either cardiorespiratory unfit or fit based on their recovery heart rate. Visceral adipose tissue (VAT), subcutaneous adipose tissue (SAT), the visceral-to-subcutaneous adipose tissue ratio (VAT/SAT ratio), and cardiometabolic characteristics were analyzed to examine the relationship between recovery heart rate and abdominal adiposity components. Results. After adjustments for age and sex, significant relationships of recovery heart rate and VAT, SAT, and VAT/SAT ratio were found; however, SAT was not significantly associated after further adjustment for body mass index (BMI) (r=0.045, P=0.499), whereas VAT (r=0.232, P<0.001) and VAT/SAT ratio (r=0.214, P=0.001) remained associated. Through stepwise multiple regression analyses after adjustment for age, sex, BMI, lifestyle factors, mean blood pressure, fasting glucose, HOMA-IR, lipid profiles, and hsCRP, recovery heart rate was identified as an independent variable associated with VAT (β=0.204, P<0.001) and VAT/SAT ratio (β=0.163, P=0.008) but not with SAT (β=0.097, P=0.111). Conclusions. Cardiorespiratory fitness level is independently associated with VAT and the VAT/SAT ratio but not with SAT in overweight and obese adults
A rice ABC transporter, OsABCC1, reduces arsenic accumulation in the grain
Arsenic (As) is a chronic poison that causes severe skin lesions and cancer. Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is a major dietary source of As; therefore, reducing As accumulation in the rice grain and thereby diminishing the amount of As that enters the food chain is of critical importance. Here, we report that a member of the Oryza sativa C-type ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporter (OsABCC) family, OsABCC1, is involved in the detoxification and reduction of As in rice grains. We found that OsABCC1 was expressed in many organs, including the roots, leaves, nodes, peduncle, and rachis. Expression was not affected when plants were exposed to low levels of As but was up-regulated in response to high levels of As. In both the basal nodes and upper nodes, which are connected to the panicle, OsABCC1 was localized to the phloem region of vascular bundles. Furthermore, OsABCC1 was localized to the tonoplast and conferred phytochelatin-dependent As resistance in yeast. Knockout of OsABCC1 in rice resulted in decreased tolerance to As, but did not affect cadmium toxicity. At the reproductive growth stage, the As content was higher in the nodes and in other tissues of wild-type rice than in those of OsABCC1 knockout mutants, but was significantly lower in the grain. Taken together, our results indicate that OsABCC1 limits As transport to the grains by sequestering As in the vacuoles of the phloem companion cells of the nodes in rice.open117318Ysciescopu

Quasiparticle spectrum of the hybrid s+g-wave superconductors YNi_2B_2C and LuNi_2B_2C
Recent experiments on single crystals of YNiBC have revealed the
presence of point nodes in the superconducting energy gap Delta(k} at k =
(1,0,0), (0,1,0), (-1,0,0), and (0,-1,0). In this paper we investigate the
effects of impurity scattering on the quasiparticle spectrum in the vortex
state of s+g-wave superconductors, which is found to be strongly modified in
the presence of disorder. In particular, a gap in the quasiparticle energy
spectrum is found to open even for infinitesimal impurity scattering, giving
rise to exponentially activated thermodynamic response functions, such as the
specific heat, the spin susceptibility, the superfluid density, and the nuclear
spin lattice relaxation. Predictions derived from this study can be verified by
measurements of the angular dependent magnetospecific heat and the

Limits on Radio Continuum Emission from a Sample of Candidate Contracting Starless Cores
We used the NRAO Very Large Array to search for 3.6 cm continuum emission
from embedded protostars in a sample of 8 nearby ``starless'' cores that show
spectroscopic evidence for infalling motions in molecular emission lines. We
detect a total of 13 compact sources in the eight observed fields to 5 sigma
limiting flux levels of typically 0.09 mJy. None of these sources lie within 1'
of the central positions of the cores, and they are all likely background
objects. Based on an extrapolation of the empirical correlation between the
bolometric luminosity and 3.6 cm luminosity for the youngest protostars, these
null-detections place upper limits of ~0.1 L_sun (d/140pc)^2 on the
luminosities of protostellar sources embedded within these cores. These limits,
together with the extended nature of the inward motions inferred from molecular
line mapping (Lee et al. 2001), are inconsistent with the inside-out collapse
model of singular isothermal spheres and suggest a less centrally condensed

Three concurrent variations of the aberrant right subclavian artery, the non-recurrent laryngeal nerve and the right thoracic duct
We herein report a case showing three anatomical variations including the aberrant right subclavian artery (ARSA), the non-recurrent laryngeal nerve (NRLN) and the right thoracic duct in a 59-year-old male cadaver. The right subclavian artery (RSA) arose from the descending aorta next to the left subclavian artery and coursed in between the oesophagus and the thoracic vertebrae. The recurrent laryngeal nerve did not coil around the RSA but directly entered the larynx. Lastly the thoracic duct terminated into the right brachiocephalic vein. This study makes an embryological assumption that the abnormal development of the RSA had happened first and subsequently caused NRLN and the thoracic duct drainage variation. As to our knowledge, only two reports have been made previously concerning such concurrent variations. Therefore, this case report alerts anatomists and clinicians to the possibility of simultaneous occurrence of ARSA, NRLN and the right thoracic duct
