MR imaging findings in Xp21.2 duplication syndrome
Xp21.2 duplication syndrome is a rare genetic disorder of undetermined prevalence and clinical relevance. As the use of chromosomal microarray has become first line for the work-up of childhood developmental delay, more gene deletions and duplications have been recognized. To the best of our knowledge, the imaging findings of Xp21.2 duplication syndrome have not been reported. We report a case of a 33 month-old male referred for developmental delay that was found to have an Xp21.2 duplication containing IL1RAPL1 and multiple midline brain malformations
PET and MRI measurements of neuroinflammation and brain plasticity after a stroke
We are going to assess brain structure and function using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and positron emission tomography (PET) to study white matter inflammation and the density of synapses over time, alongside a behavioural assessment of motor and executive function. This kind of comprehensive assessment, especially using PET to measure synaptic density, has not been done before.https://ir.lib.uwo.ca/brainscanprojectsummaries/1027/thumbnail.jp
Tennessee Municipal Benchmarking Project FY2010
FY2010 annual report to compare the relative cost, efficiency and effectiveness of a set of municipal services by using a collaborative approach with the participating cities, and to set standards and identify best practices in municipal government for use and comparison by all Tennessee cities. Per capita average costs of providing police, fire and residential refuse services are presented
Measurement of the Bs0-Bs0 oscillation frequency δms in Bs0→Ds-(3)π decays
The Bs0-Bs0 oscillation frequency δms is measured with 36 pb-1 of data collected in pp collisions at s=7TeV by the LHCb experiment at the Large Hadron Collider. A total of 1381 Bs0→Ds-π+ and Bs0→Ds-π+π-π + signal decays are reconstructed, with average decay time resolutions of 44 fs and 36 fs, respectively. An oscillation signal with a statistical significance of 4.6σ is observed. The measured oscillation frequency is δm s=17.63±0.11(stat)±0.02(syst)ps -1
Comparison and Correlation of Dynamic Postural Stability Indices Obtained during Different Dynamic Landing Tasks and Footwear Conditions
Objectives: To compare the dynamic postural stability indices (DPSI) from two different landing protocols with normalized jump distance (NDP) and jump height (RWDP) and footwear conditions (barefoot and shod).Design: Cross-sectional.Setting: Research laboratory.Participants: Twenty-five physically active adults (13 males/12 females, age: 22.1±4.2yrs, height: 178.3±11.1cm, weight: 75.6±19.4kg).Main Outcome Measures: Subjects jumped off two feet and landed with their preferred foot on a force-plate. From the ground reaction forces, the DPSI scores in the anterior-posterior, medial-lateral, and vertical directions, and the cumulative scores (DPSI) were calculated under two protocols and footwear conditions. Based on normality of data distribution, paired t-tests/Wilcoxon signed rank tests and Pearson/Spearman correlation coefficients were used to compare, and measure the relationship between the two protocols under two footwear conditions (p<0.05).Results: There were mixed results for DPSI scores when comparing the two protocols. There were significant differences (p=0.001–0.039) and positive correlations (r=0.660–0.870, p<0.001) on the DPSI scores between footwear conditions during the NDP protocol while the RWDP showed no significant differences. Conclusions: Different protocols and footwear conditions may impact DPSI scores. Therefore, a standardized protocol and footwear condition should be established for future studies examining dynamic postural stability

Imputation versus prediction: applications in machine learning for drug discovery
Imputation is a powerful statistical method that is distinct from the predictive modelling techniques more commonly used in drug discovery. Imputation uses sparse experimental data in an incomplete dataset to predict missing values by leveraging correlations between experimental assays. This contrasts with quantitative structure–activity relationship methods that use only descriptor – assay correlations. We summarize three recent imputation strategies – heterogeneous deep imputation, assay profile methods and matrix factorization – and compare these with quantitative structure–activity relationship methods, including deep learning, in drug discovery settings. We comment on the value added by imputation methods when used in an ongoing project and find that imputation produces stronger models, earlier in the project, over activity and absorption, distribution, metabolism and elimination end points. </jats:p
Absolute luminosity measurements with the LHCb detector at the LHC
Absolute luminosity measurements are of general interest for colliding-beam experiments at storage rings. These measurements are necessary to determine the absolute cross-sections of reaction processes and are valuable to quantify the performance of the accelerator. Using data taken in 2010, LHCb has applied two methods to determine the absolute scale of its luminosity measurements for proton-proton collisions at the LHC with a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV. In addition to the classic ''van der Meer scan'' method a novel technique has been developed which makes use of direct imaging of the individual beams using beam-gas and beam-beam interactions. This beam imaging method is made possible by the high resolution of the LHCb vertex detector and the close proximity of the detector to the beams, and allows beam parameters such as positions, angles and widths to be determined. The results of the two methods have comparable precision and are in good agreement. Combining the two methods, an overal precision of 3.5% in the absolute luminosity determination is reached. The techniques used to transport the absolute luminosity calibration to the full 2010 data-taking period are presented
