Fifteen patients with relapsed osteosarcoma were treated with an intensive combination chemotherapy schedule. Ifosfamide 2.5 g m−2 daily and etoposide 150 mg m−2 daily coincidentally for 3 days and high-dose methotrexate 8 g m−2 (with folinic acid rescue) on days 10–14 in a planned 21-day cycle. Feasibility, toxicity and response to this alternative combination for the treatment of relapsed osteosarcoma was assessed. There were 98 evaluable cycles for toxicity and tolerability. The majority of cycles were well tolerated. Haematological toxicity of grade 3/4 (common toxicity criteria) was seen in all courses. Renal tubular loss of electrolytes, particularly magnesium, occurred in 71% of cycles. Thirteen per cent of cycles were repeated within 21 days and 61% within 28 days. In the thirteen patients evaluable for response, a partial response rate of 31% was seen after two cycles. However, patients with stable disease continued on therapy, and an overall consequent response rate of 62% was observed. Four patients were alive with no evidence of disease at 8–74 months. Three are alive with disease (at 8–19 months). There were six deaths, all disease related. This regimen exhibits an encouraging response rate in a group of children with poor prognosis disease, with a tolerable toxicity profile. © 1999 Cancer Research Campaig

We present results of an analysis of the reaction γγωϱγγ→ωϱ in the two-photon process e+eϵ+e2π+2ππ0e^+e^−→ϵ^+e^−2π^+2π^−π^0 in the untagged mode. The cross section is largely compatible with previous determinations; however, we do not confirm the enhancement claimed at 1.9 GeV. All observed ω's are accompanied by ϱ's in the recoiling ππ spectrum. An angular correlation analysis shows that the data is not dominated by a single spin-parity state, thus establishing severe constraints on qqqqqqqq models which predict JP=2+JP= 2^+

The intermittency structure of multihadronic e+e- annihilation is analyzed by evaluating the factorial moments F2-F5 in three-dimensional Lorentz invariant phase space as a function of the resolution scale. We interpret our data in the language of fractal objects. It turns out that the fractal dimension depends on the resolution scale in a way that can be attributed to geometrical resolution effects and dynamical effects, such as the pi-O Dalitz decay. The LUND 7.2 hadronization model provides an excellent description of the data. There is no indication of unexplained multiplicity fluctuations in small phase space regions

A rational approach to IrPTe – DFT and CalPhaD studies on phase stability, formation and structure of IrPTe

    No full text
Phase formation, stability, crystal and electronic structures of IrPTe are investigated from experiment and quantum chemical calculations. The phase formation is studied from thermodynamic data and CalPhaD modeling. Applying a high-temperature gas-balance a formation pathway for IrPTe is studied from the elements and the binary parent compounds IrTe2 and IrP2. The obtained paracostibite (CoSbS) type structure contains rarely occurring heteroatomic P–Te dumbbells. The stability of IrPTe and the found structure is studied from DFT calculations with respect to the elements, IrTe2 and IrP2, and possible polymorphs. Probable metastable modifications with XY dumbbells (as known for isoelectronic compounds like CoAsS) are obtained from systematic DFT modelling. Phase transitions are predicted form the equation of states (EOS). According to its electronic band structure IrPTe is predicted as small gap (ΔEg = 0.5 eV) semiconductor

RE-SWOT: From User Feedback to Requirements via Competitor Analysis

App store reviews are a rich source for analysts to elicit requirements from user feedback, for they describe bugs to be fixed, requested features, and possible improvements. Product development teams need new techniques that help them make real-time decisions based on user feedback. [Question/Problem] Researchers have proposed natural language processing (NLP) techniques for extracting and organizing requirements-relevant knowledge from the reviews for one specific app. However, no attention has been paid to studying whether and how requirements can be identified from competing products. [Principal ideas/results] We propose RE-SWOT, a tool-supported method for eliciting requirements from app store reviews through competitor analysis. RE-SWOT combines NLP algorithms with information visualization techniques. We evaluate the usefulness of RE-SWOT with expert product managers from three mobile app companies. [Contribution] Our preliminary results show that competitor analysis is a promising path for research that has direct impact on the requirements engineering practice in modern app development companies
