    Revealing Tripartite Quantum Discord with Tripartite Information Diagram

    A new measure based on the tripartite information diagram is proposed for identifying quantum discord in tripartite systems. The proposed measure generalizes the mutual information underlying discord from bipartite to tripartite systems, and utilizes both one-particle and two-particle projective measurements to reveal the characteristics of the tripartite quantum discord. The feasibility of the proposed measure is demonstrated by evaluating the tripartite quantum discord for systems with states close to Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger, W, and biseparable states. In addition, the connections between tripartite quantum discord and two other quantum correlations---namely genuine tripartite entanglement and genuine tripartite Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen steering---are briefly discussed. The present study considers the case of quantum discord in tripartite systems. However, the proposed framework can be readily extended to general N-partite systems

    Educating Nurses on the Use of Bedside Mobility Assessment Tool (BMAT) through E-learning/Online Education Module

    Background Hospital setting is reviewed the most hazardous workplace comparing to other industries. Nursing assistants and orderlies have the high risk of work-related injury. The study found that the top reason that causes the injuries was due to over-exertion or bodily reaction. Aim State of California requires hospitals to implement a Safe Patient Handling and Mobility (SPHM) policy as part of an injury and illness prevention program (Department of Industrial Regulations, 2016). Bedside Mobility Assessment Tool (BMAT) is the latest evidence based practice, reliable and valid tool, which helps nurses to assess the patients’ current and ongoing mobility and to determine an appropriate use of equipment. Methods In order to educate staff on BMAT in healthcare setting, online educational module tailed to the learners based on their characteristics, background and proficiency will have the most influential on overall learning outcomes; therefore, it is appropriate to implement online educational learning to adult learners in the nursing profession Result The staff feels that the length of the module is tolerable, and the instruction is clear to follow and to understand. On the negative side, the staff felt the module did not address much on BMAT use in patients with certain physical conditions, which are common seen on the unit. Conclusion The recommendations for are that the online module should include BMAT use on other scenarios, such as knee/hip surgery and femoral/back injury, in video format. In the health reform era, CNL plays a critical role not only in creating best practice with high quality outcome for patients but also in strengthening leadership in incorporating with diverse professionals to support positive change

    Direction-Projection-Permutation for High Dimensional Hypothesis Tests

    Motivated by the prevalence of high dimensional low sample size datasets in modern statistical applications, we propose a general nonparametric framework, Direction-Projection-Permutation (DiProPerm), for testing high dimensional hypotheses. The method is aimed at rigorous testing of whether lower dimensional visual differences are statistically significant. Theoretical analysis under the non-classical asymptotic regime of dimension going to infinity for fixed sample size reveals that certain natural variations of DiProPerm can have very different behaviors. An empirical power study both confirms the theoretical results and suggests DiProPerm is a powerful test in many settings. Finally DiProPerm is applied to a high dimensional gene expression dataset
