    Data mining of graduation project selection database

    AbstractIn order to improve the quality of graduate project, a database system of hundreds of graduation project selection results was established in C# language of Visual Studio. The information system was data mined with ID3 algorithm, and a decision tree is gained for researching these graduation projects choices. The mining results of software testing demonstrate that the quality of graduation project selection is associated with the difficulty, project direction and major direction mostly, which guilds the students to choose their suitable graduation projects in time, improving the efficiency and quality of graduation project selection greatly

    A Novel Method for Lithium-Ion Battery Online Parameter Identification Based on Variable Forgetting Factor Recursive Least Squares

    For model-based state of charge (SOC) estimation methods, the battery model parameters change with temperature, SOC, and so forth, causing the estimation error to increase. Constantly updating model parameters during battery operation, also known as online parameter identification, can effectively solve this problem. In this paper, a lithium-ion battery is modeled using the Thevenin model. A variable forgetting factor (VFF) strategy is introduced to improve forgetting factor recursive least squares (FFRLS) to variable forgetting factor recursive least squares (VFF-RLS). A novel method based on VFF-RLS for the online identification of the Thevenin model is proposed. Experiments verified that VFF-RLS gives more stable online parameter identification results than FFRLS. Combined with an unscented Kalman filter (UKF) algorithm, a joint algorithm named VFF-RLS-UKF is proposed for SOC estimation. In a variable-temperature environment, a battery SOC estimation experiment was performed using the joint algorithm. The average error of the SOC estimation was as low as 0.595% in some experiments. Experiments showed that VFF-RLS can effectively track the changes in model parameters. The joint algorithm improved the SOC estimation accuracy compared to the method with the fixed forgetting factor

    Comparison Study on Two Model-Based Adaptive Algorithms for SOC Estimation of Lithium-Ion Batteries in Electric Vehicles

    State of charge (SOC) estimation is essential to battery management systems in electric vehicles (EVs) to ensure the safe operations of batteries and providing drivers with the remaining range of the EVs. A number of estimation algorithms have been developed to get an accurate SOC value because the SOC cannot be directly measured with sensors and is closely related to various factors, such as ambient temperature, current rate and battery aging. In this paper, two model-based adaptive algorithms, including the adaptive unscented Kalman filter (AUKF) and adaptive slide mode observer (ASMO) are applied and compared in terms of convergence behavior, tracking accuracy, computational cost and estimation robustness against parameter uncertainties of the battery model in SOC estimation. Two typical driving cycles, including the Dynamic Stress Test (DST) and New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) are applied to evaluate the performance of the two algorithms. Comparison results show that the AUKF has merits in convergence ability and tracking accuracy with an accurate battery model, while the ASMO has lower computational cost and better estimation robustness against parameter uncertainties of the battery model

    A New Method for State of Charge Estimation of Lithium-Ion Battery Based on Strong Tracking Cubature Kalman Filter

    The estimation of state of charge (SOC) is a crucial evaluation index in a battery management system (BMS). The value of SOC indicates the remaining capacity of a battery, which provides a good guarantee of safety and reliability of battery operation. It is difficult to get an accurate value of the SOC, being one of the inner states. In this paper, a strong tracking cubature Kalman filter (STCKF) based on the cubature Kalman filter is presented to perform accurate and reliable SOC estimation. The STCKF algorithm can adjust gain matrix online by introducing fading factor to the state estimation covariance matrix. The typical second-order resistor-capacitor model is used as the battery’s equivalent circuit model to dynamically simulate characteristics of the battery. The exponential-function fitting method accomplishes the task of relevant parameters identification. Then, the developed STCKF algorithm has been introduced in detail and verified under different operation current profiles such as Dynamic Stress Test (DST) and New European Driving Cycle (NEDC). Making a comparison with extended Kalman filter (EKF) and CKF algorithm, the experimental results show the merits of the STCKF algorithm in SOC estimation accuracy and robustness

    Strong Tracking of a H-Infinity Filter in Lithium-Ion Battery State of Charge Estimation

    The accuracy of state-of-charge (SOC) estimation, one of the most important functions of a battery management system (BMS), is the basis for the proper operation of an electric vehicle. This study proposes a method for accurate SOC estimation. To achieve a balance between accuracy and simplicity, a second-order resistor–capacitor equivalent circuit model is applied before the algorithm is deduced, and the parameters of the established model are determined using a fitting technique. Battery state space equations are then described. A strong tracking H-infinity filter (STHF) is proposed based on an H-infinity filter (HF) and a strong tracking filter. By introducing a suboptimal fading factor, the STHF approach can use the relevant information in the estimation residual sequence to update the estimation results. To verify the robustness of this approach, battery test experiments are performed at different temperatures on lithium-ion batteries. Finally, the SOC estimation results obtained using the STHF suggest that the STHF method exhibits high robustness against the measured noises and initial error. For comparison, the estimation results of the commonly used extended Kalman filter (EKF) and HF methods are also displayed. It is suggested that the proposed STHF approach obtains a more accurate SOC estimation

    Accurate state of charge (SOC) estimation is of great significance for a lithium-ion battery to ensure its safe operation and to prevent it from over-charging or over-discharging. However, it is difficult to get an accurate value of SOC since it is an inner sate of a battery cell, which cannot be directly measured. This paper presents an Adaptive Cubature Kalman filter (ACKF)-based SOC estimation algorithm for lithium-ion batteries in electric vehicles. Firstly, the lithium-ion battery is modeled using the second-order resistor-capacitor (RC) equivalent circuit and parameters of the battery model are determined by the forgetting factor least-squares method. Then, the Adaptive Cubature Kalman filter for battery SOC estimation is introduced and the estimated process is presented. Finally, two typical driving cycles, including the Dynamic Stress Test (DST) and New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) are applied to evaluate the performance of the proposed method by comparing with the traditional extended Kalman filter (EKF) and cubature Kalman filter (CKF) algorithms. Experimental results show that the ACKF algorithm has better performance in terms of SOC estimation accuracy, convergence to different initial SOC errors and robustness against voltage measurement noise as compared with the traditional EKF and CKF algorithms

    State of Charge Estimation for Power Lithium-Ion Battery Using a Fuzzy Logic Sliding Mode Observer

    State of charge (SOC) estimation is of vital importance for the battery management system in electric vehicles. This paper proposes a new fuzzy logic sliding mode observer for SOC estimation. The second-order resistor-capacitor equivalent circuit model is used to describe the discharging/charging behavior of the battery. The exponential fitting method is applied to determine the parameters of the model. The fuzzy logic controller is introduced to improve the performance of sliding mode observer forming the fuzzy logic sliding mode observer (FLSMO). The Federal Urban Driving Schedule (FUDS), the West Virginia Suburban Driving Schedule (WUBSUB), and the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) schedule test results show that the average SOC estimation error of FLSMO algorithm is less than 1%. When the initial SOC estimation error is 20%, the FLSMO algorithm can converge to 3% error boundary within 2400 s. Comparison test results show that the FLSMO algorithm has better performance than the sliding mode observer and the extended Kalman filter in terms of robustness against measurement noise and parameter disturbances

    An Adaptive Gain Nonlinear Observer for State of Charge Estimation of Lithium-Ion Batteries in Electric Vehicles

    The state of charge (SOC) is important for the safety and reliability of battery operation since it indicates the remaining capacity of a battery. However, it is difficult to get an accurate value of SOC, because the SOC cannot be directly measured by a sensor. In this paper, an adaptive gain nonlinear observer (AGNO) for SOC estimation of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) in electric vehicles (EVs) is proposed. The second-order resistor–capacitor (2RC) equivalent circuit model is used to simulate the dynamic behaviors of a LIB, based on which the state equations are derived to design the AGNO for SOC estimation. The model parameters are identified using the exponential-function fitting method. The sixth-order polynomial function is used to describe the highly nonlinear relationship between the open circuit voltage (OCV) and the SOC. The convergence of the proposed AGNO is proved using the Lyapunov stability theory. Two typical driving cycles, including the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) and Federal Urban Driving Schedule (FUDS) are adopted to evaluate the performance of the AGNO by comparing with the unscented Kalman filter (UKF) algorithm. The experimental results show that the AGNO has better performance than the UKF algorithm in terms of reducing the computation cost, improving the estimation accuracy and enhancing the convergence ability

    A State of Charge Estimation Method Based on Adaptive Extended Kalman-Particle Filtering for Lithium-ion Batteries

    A state of charge (SOC) estimation method is proposed. An Adaptive Extended Kalman Particle filter (AEKPF) based on Particle Filter (PF) and Adaptive Kalman Filter (AKF) is used in order to decrease the error and reduce calculations. The second-order resistor-capacitor (RC) Equivalent Circuit Model (ECM) is used to identify dynamic parameters of the battery. After testing (include Dynamic Stress test (DST), New European Driving Cycle (NEDC), Federal Urban Dynamic Schedule (FUDS), Urban Dynamometer Driving Schedules (UDDS), etc.) at different temperatures and times, it was found that the AEKPF exhibits greater tolerance for high system noise (10% or higher) and provides more accurate estimations under common operating conditions
