    Studies on the Spherical Bodies Containing Anthocyanins in Plant cells, IV. : A Survey of the Occurrence of Anthocyanoplasts in the Hypocotyls in some Plant Species.

    A survey was conducted on the occurrence of anthocyanoplasts using the hypocotyls of 16 families comprising 35 species, of which the names appear in Table 1. The present survey resulted in the discovery that anthocyanoplasts were recognized in the hypocotyls of 21 species. The sizes of the anthocyanoplasts, their shapes and their colors found here closely resembled those in the hypocotyls of radish previously reported on by YASUDA et al. (1985). However, there were some differences between the anthocyanoplasts found here and those of radish. Especially the morning glory hypocotyl data were strikingly different from those obtained from radish, as is shown below. 1. The relationship between the pigment level in the hypocotyls and the frequency with which anthocyanoplasts appear in them. Anthocyanoplast appeared during whole period of pigment formation of morning glory, while in contrast anthocyanoplasts only appeared in the hypocotyls of radish during the first half of pigment formation. 2. The relationship between the numbers of anthocyanoplasts per cell and their diameters The relationship between them was rather complicated, suggesting that fusion of several smaller anthocyanoplasts and the division of larger anthocyanoplasts occurred alternatively during the developmental course of anthocyanoplasts. This differs very markedly from the hypocotyls of radish which showed fusion only in their developmental stages. It was also found that the anthocyanoplasts in the hypocotyls of morning glory have the ability to display light reaction in anthocyanin biosynthesis exactly like the hypocotyls of radish.Article信州大学理学部紀要 27(1): 15-21(1992)departmental bulletin pape

    Experimental Verification of Common-Mode Excitation Model for PCB Having Partially Narrow Return Path

    Suppression of common-mode current is important to achieve electromagnetic compatibility of high-speed and high-density electronic circuits. The authors have focused on the common mode current flowing on a printed circuit board (PCB) to explain the excitation mechanism. A narrow ground pattern in microstrip structure excites common-mode current. In the previous paper, the authors explained the mechanism of common mode generation by means of "current division factor" for simple PCBs. The estimated radiation from a simple PCB agreed well with measured one. In this paper, the authors extend the theory to be applied to generalize ground structure. The validity of the theory is confirmed by comparing the measured radiation and the estimated value using the common-mode model for a test PCB. The estimated radiation agrees well with the measured one within 3 dB up to 900 MHz

    Effectiveness of surgery and hyperbaric oxygen for antiresorptive agent-related osteonecrosis of the jaw: A subgroup analysis by disease stage

    Antiresorptive agent-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (ARONJ) is an adverse event induced by antiresorptive agents (ARAs). The purpose of this study was to evaluate variables, mainly surgery and hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) therapy, associated with treatment outcomes in patients with a diagnosis of ARONJ at a single center. We enrolled consecutive patients who presented to our hospital for the management of stage 2 or 3 ARONJ between January 2003 and December 2019. The relationship between potentially predictive factors and outcome variables was examined using statistical analyses, along with a subgroup analysis based on disease stage. Of 252 patients included in this study, 206 had stage 2 ARONJ and 46 had stage 3 ARONJ. There were 119 patients with osteoporosis and 133 with malignant disease. In total, 139 patients were healed, and the healing rate of patients with stage 3 ARONJ was lower than that of patients with stage 2 ARONJ. With regard to the combination of surgery and HBO therapy, most patients underwent HBO before and after surgery. In the univariable analysis, surgery showed a therapeutic effect in both stage 2 and 3 ARONJ, whereas HBO showed a therapeutic effect in stage 2 ARONJ. In the multivariable analysis for stage 2 ARONJ, extensive surgery showed a stronger association with healing than conservative surgery, whereas ≥46 sessions of HBO therapy was less associated with healing than was non-HBO therapy. Our findings suggest that extensive surgery is highly effective against ARONJ regardless of disease stage if there is a sequestrum separation and systemic tolerance, whereas HBO therapy before and after surgical approach can be effective. Further studies are needed to identify treatment strategies for patients with treatment-refractory ARONJ who may be forced to undergo long-term HBO therapy with the expectation of sequestrum separation

    High-speed simulation of PCB emission and immunity with frequency-domain IC/LSI source models

    Some recent results from research conducted in the EMC group at Okayama University are reviewed. A scheme for power-bus modeling with an analytical method is introduced. A linear macro-model for ICs/LSIs, called the LECCS model, has been developed for EMI and EMS simulation. This model has a very simple structure and is sufficiently accurate. Combining the LECCS model with analytical simulation techniques for power-bus resonance simulation provides a method for high-speed EMI simulation and decoupling evaluation related to PCB and LSI design. A useful explanation of the common-mode excitation mechanism, which utilizes the imbalance factor of a transmission line, is also presented. Some of the results were investigated by implementing prototypes of a high-speed EMI simulator, HISES. </p

    Angiotensinogen expression in neonates

    Background We recently demonstrated that preterm neonates have higher urinary angiotensinogen (AGT) levels than full-term neonates. Here, we tested the hypothesis that enhanced neonatal AGT expression is associated with intrarenal renin-angiotensin system (RAS) status during kidney development. Methods We prospectively recruited neonates born at our hospital and healthy children with minor glomerular abnormalities between April 2013 and March 2017. We measured neonatal plasma and urinary AGT levels at birth and one year later and assessed renal AGT expression in kidney tissues from neonates and healthy children using immunohistochemical (IHC) analysis. Results Fifty-four neonates and eight children were enrolled. Although there were no changes in plasma AGT levels, urinary AGT levels were significantly decreased one year after birth. Urinary AGT levels at birth were inversely correlated with gestational age, and urinary AGT levels at birth and one year later were inversely correlated with estimated glomerular filtration rate one year after birth. IHC analysis showed that renal AGT expression in neonates was higher than that in healthy children and inversely correlated with gestational age. Conclusions Enhanced AGT expression and urinary AGT excretion may reflect intrarenal RAS activation associated with kidney development in utero

    Redox-Sensitive Cysteines Confer Proximal Control of the Molecular Crowding Barrier in the Nuclear Pore

Although oxidative stress is known to alter the barrier function, the molecular mechanism underlying this adaptive control of the nuclear pore complex remains unknown. Here we uncover a systematic control of the crowding barrier within the nuclear pore in response to various redox environments. Direct measurements of the crowding states using a crowding-sensitive FRET (Förster resonance energy transfer) probe reveal specific roles of the nuclear pore subunits that adjust the degree of crowding in response to different redox conditions, by adaptively forming or disrupting redox-sensitive disulfide bonds. Relationships between crowding control and the barrier function of the nuclear pore are investigated by single-molecular fluorescence measurements of nuclear transport. Based on these findings, we propose a proximal control model of molecular crowding in vivo that is dynamically regulated at the molecular level

    Abscess Formation of the Round Ligament of the Liver: Report of a Case

    Abscess formation of the round ligament of the liver is very rare. We report a case of a 70-year-old female with abscess of the round ligament after an endoscopic papillotomy for choledocholithiasis. On the 21st day following papillotomy, abscess formation of the round ligament was found by ultrasonographic examination. Surgical treatment was performed because conservative therapy was not effective. The purulent fluid and necrotic tissue at the round ligament were completely removed. Cultures obtained from the abscess grew Staphylococcus epidermidis, but the mechanism of abscess formation in this case remains unclear.</p
