One-Loop NMHV Amplitudes involving Gluinos and Scalars in N=4 Gauge Theory

We use Supersymmetric Ward Identities and quadruple cuts to generate n-pt NMHV amplitudes involving gluinos and adjoint scalars from purely gluonic amplitudes. We present a set of factors that can be used to generate one-loop NMHV amplitudes involving gluinos or adjoint scalars in N=4 Super Yang-Mills from the corresponding purely gluonic amplitude.Comment: 16 pages, JHEP versio

    MHV-Vertices for Gravity Amplitudes

We obtain a CSW-style formalism for calculating graviton scattering amplitudes and prove its validity through the use of a special type of BCFW-like parameter shift. The procedure is illustrated with explicit examples.Comment: 21 pages, minor typos corrected, proof added in section

Quantitative microarray profiling of DNA-binding molecules

A high-throughput Cognate Site Identity (CSI) microarray platform interrogating all 524 800 10-base pair variable sites is correlated to quantitative DNase I footprinting data of DNA binding pyrrole-imidazole polyamides. An eight-ring hairpin polyamide programmed to target the 5 bp sequence 5'-TACGT-3' within the hypoxia response element (HRE) yielded a CSI microarray-derived sequence motif of 5'-WWACGT-3' (W = A,T). A linear beta-linked polyamide programmed to target a (GAA)_3 repeat yielded a CSI microarray-derived sequence motif of 5'-AARAARWWG-3' (R = G,A). Quantitative DNase I footprinting of selected sequences from each microarray experiment enabled quantitative prediction of K_a values across the microarray intensity spectrum

Analytic Structure of Three-Mass Triangle Coefficients

``Three-mass triangles'' are a class of integral functions appearing in one-loop gauge theory amplitudes. We discuss how the complex analytic properties and singularity structures of these amplitudes can be combined with generalised unitarity techniques to produce compact expressions for three-mass triangle coefficients. We present formulae for the N=1 contributions to the n-point NMHV amplitude.Comment: 22 pages; v3: NMHV n=point expression added. 7 point expression remove

Magnetic reconstruction at (001) CaMnO3_3 surface

The Mn-terminated (001) surface of the stable anti-ferromagnetic insulating phase of cubic perovskite CaMnO3_3 is found to undergo a magnetic reconstruction consisting on a spin-flip process at surface: each Mn spin at the surface flips to pair with that of Mn in the subsurface layer. In spite of very little Mn-O charge transfer at surface, the surface behavior is driven by the ege_g states due to dxyd_{xy} →\to dz2d_{z^2} charge redistribution. These results, based on local spin density theory, give a double exchange like coupling that is driven by ege_g character, not additional charge, and may have relevance to CMR materials.Comment: 4 pages, 5 figures reference added Fig. 3 modified. Spatial variability of precipitation regimes over Turkey

    Get PDF
Turkish annual precipitation regimes are analysed to provide large-scale perspective and redefine precipitation regions. Monthly total precipitation data are employed for 107 stations (1963–2002). Precipitation regime shape (seasonality) and magnitude (size) are classified using a novel multivariate methodology. Six shape and five magnitude classes are identified, which exhibit clear spatial structure. A composite (shape and magnitude) regime classification reveals dominant controls on spatial variability of precipitation. Intra-annual timing and magnitude of precipitation is highly variable due to seasonal shifts in Polar and Subtropical zones and physiographic factors. Nonetheless, the classification methodology is shown to be a powerful tool that identifies physically-interpretable precipitation regions: (1) coastal regimes for Marmara, coastal Aegean, Mediterranean and Black Sea; (2) transitional regimes in continental Aegean and Southeast Anatolia; and (3) inland regimes across central and Eastern Anatolia. This research has practical implications for understanding water resources, which are under ever growing pressure in Turkey
