Single-Shot Visualization Of Evolving Laser- Or Beam-Driven Plasma Wakefield Accelerators
We introduce Frequency-Domain Tomography (FDT) for visualizing sub-ps evolution of light-speed refractive index structures in a single shot. As a prototype demonstration, we produce single-shot tomographic movies of self-focusing, filamenting laser pulses propagating in a transparent Kerr medium. We then discuss how to adapt FDT to visualize evolving laser-or beam-driven plasma wakefields of current interest to the advanced accelerator community. For short (L similar to 1 cm), dense (n(e) similar to 10(19) cm(-3)) plasmas, the key challenge is broadening probe bandwidth sufficiently to resolve plasma-wavelength-size structures. For long (L similar to 10 to 100 cm), tenuous (n(e) similar to 10(17) cm(-3)) plasmas, probe diffraction from the evolving wake becomes the key challenge. Thermodynamics of de Sitter Black Holes: Thermal Cosmological Constant
We study the thermodynamic properties associated with the black hole event
horizon and the cosmological horizon for black hole solutions in asymptotically
de Sitter spacetimes. We examine thermodynamics of these horizons on the basis
of the conserved charges according to Teitelboim's method. In particular, we
have succeeded in deriving the generalized Smarr formula among thermodynamical
quantities in a simple and natural way. We then show that cosmological constant
must decrease when one takes into account the quantum effect. These
observations have been obtained if and only if cosmological constant plays the
role of a thermodynamical state variable. We also touch upon the relation
between inflation of our universe and a phase transition of black holes.Comment: Revtex4, 11page

Magnetic Fields and Afterglows of BdHNe: Inferences from GRB 130427A, GRB 160509A, GRB 160625B, GRB 180728A and GRB 190114C
GRB 190114C is the first binary-driven hypernova (BdHN) fully observed from
the initial supernova appearance to the final emergence of the optical SN
signal. It offers an unprecedented testing ground for the BdHN theory and it is
here determined and further extended to additional gamma-ray bursts (GRBs).
BdHNe comprise two subclasses of long GRBs with progenitors a binary system
composed of a carbon-oxygen star (CO) and a neutron star (NS)
companion. The CO explodes as a SN leaving at its center a
newborn NS (NS). The SN ejecta hypercritically accretes both on the
NS and the NS companion. BdHNe I are the tightest binaries where the
accretion leads the companion NS to gravitational collapse into a black hole
(BH). In BdHN II the accretion onto the NS is lower, so there is no BH
formation. We observe the same structure of the afterglow for GRB 190114C and
other selected examples of BdHNe I (GRB 130427A, GRB 160509A, GRB 160625B) and
for BdHN II (GRB 180728A). In all the cases the explanation of the afterglow is
reached via the synchrotron emission powered by the NS: their magnetic
fields structures and their spin are determined. For BdHNe I, we discuss the
properties of the magnetic field embedding the newborn BH, inherited from the
collapsed NS and amplified during the gravitational collapse process, and

Low temperature dielectric anomalies in HoMnO_3: The complex phase diagram
The dielectric constant of multiferroic hexagonal HoMnO_3 exhibits an
unprecedented diversity of anomalies at low temperatures (1.8 K< T <10 K) and
under external magnetic fields related to magnetic phase transitions in the
coupled system of Ho moments, Mn spins, and ferroelectric polarization. The
derived phase diagram is far more complex than previously assumed including
reentrant phases, phase transitions with distinct thermal and field hysteresis,
as well as several multicritical points. Magnetoelastic interactions introduce
lattice anomalies at the magnetic phase transitions. The re-evaluation of the
T-H phase diagram of HoMnO_3 is demanded.Comment: 12 pages, 3 figure
