Exchange Rate Pass-through and Industry Characteristics: The Case of Taiwan's Exports of Midstream Petrochemical Products
Based on 1986-1992 survey data of 22 midstream petrochemical industries in Taiwan, the empirical results of the export price, the markup ratio and the price-cost margin equations in this study show that Taiwan's petrochemical firms absorb only a small portion of a given weighted exchange rate change in their export prices, markup ratios and price-cost margins. It implies that Taiwan's petrochemical firms have a weak pricing-to-market pattern. The empirical results may be explained by the volatility of profitability, high market concentration and small export/domestic production share. However, the impacts of the exchange rate change on the export price, markup ratio and price-cost margin have a tendency to increase during the period of 1987" to 1992. The tendency might be attributed to increasing competition of the petrochemical markets in the world, or Taiwanese firms' gradual realization of the importance of holding their world market shares in response to the exchange rate change.
Context-aware Sequential Recommendation
Since sequential information plays an important role in modeling user
behaviors, various sequential recommendation methods have been proposed.
Methods based on Markov assumption are widely-used, but independently combine
several most recent components. Recently, Recurrent Neural Networks (RNN) based
methods have been successfully applied in several sequential modeling tasks.
However, for real-world applications, these methods have difficulty in modeling
the contextual information, which has been proved to be very important for
behavior modeling. In this paper, we propose a novel model, named Context-Aware
Recurrent Neural Networks (CA-RNN). Instead of using the constant input matrix
and transition matrix in conventional RNN models, CA-RNN employs adaptive
context-specific input matrices and adaptive context-specific transition
matrices. The adaptive context-specific input matrices capture external
situations where user behaviors happen, such as time, location, weather and so
on. And the adaptive context-specific transition matrices capture how lengths
of time intervals between adjacent behaviors in historical sequences affect the
transition of global sequential features. Experimental results show that the
proposed CA-RNN model yields significant improvements over state-of-the-art
sequential recommendation methods and context-aware recommendation methods on
two public datasets, i.e., the Taobao dataset and the Movielens-1M dataset.Comment: IEEE International Conference on Data Mining (ICDM) 2016, to apea
A Fairness Heuristic Analysis of the Primacy Effect of Reputation on Perceived of Privacy Policy and Privacy Seals
When faced with the risk-benefit dilemma in online era, how would users make their decisions by procedural justice information as distributive justice information is uncertain? The literature implied reputation, privacy policy and seals can be regarded as the factors, which would eliminate users’ privacy concern, build trust and incentivize transaction. However, research-to- date is lacking of a comprehensive model to indicate practitioners whenever and however which factor is the core compared with others or their efforts are equal. Drawing upon the fairness heuristic theory, this paper explores the impact of the three factors on them. The results from an experimental study show that the primacy effects of reputation on perceived of privacy policy and seals exist. Theoretical and practical implications arising from our results were offered
THE INFLUENCE OF INFOMRATION SENSITIVITY, COMPENSATION ON PRIVACY CONCERN AND BEHAVIOUR INTENTION
The holdbacks of information privacy to online marketing result in scholars\u27 research passionate around privacy concern. Following the research trend, this study examined the effect of two antecedent factors--information sensitivity and compensation--and their interactions on privacy concern and behaviour intention including information disclosure, protection intention and transaction intention. Two types of information (basic information as less sensitive information;, basic and financial information in purchasing context, basic and identifiable information in job hunting context as more sensitive information) and two types of compensation (30% sale discount as low level of compensation, free job vacation information as high level of compensation) were assigned to approximately reflect the practices in the real world. The experimental results show that privacy concern has negative effect on information disclosure but positive effect on protection intention. Information sensitivity has negative effect on information disclosure and transaction intention but positive effect on protection intention. On the contrary, compensation has positive effect on information disclosure and transaction intention. Moreover, compensation negatively interacts with information sensitivity, which has positive effect on information disclosure. These outcomes imply marketers should beware of the cost-benefits level to obtain accurate personal information
3-(4-Chlorophenyl)-1-(4-nitrophenyl)benzo[f]quinoline
In the title compound, C25H15ClN2O2, the pyridine ring is inclined at angles of 6.89 (7), 4.24 (9) and 66.98 (4)° with respect to the naphthalene, chlorophenyl and nitrophenyl rings, respectively. The two substituent aromatic rings make a dihedral angle of 71.1 (1)° with one another. C—H⋯π and π–π stacking are present in the crystal structure; the π–π stacking [centroid–centroid distance between the pyridyl rings of adjacent molecules= 3.7838 (11) Å] links the molecules into dimers, while the C—H⋯Cg type π–ring interactons link the molecules into a chain structure along c
