Computer program provides improved longitudinal response analysis for axisymmetric launch vehicles

    Get PDF
Computer program calculates axisymmetric launch vehicle steady-state response to axisymmetric sinusoidal loads. A finite element technique is utilized to construct the total launch vehicle stiffness matrix and mass matrix by subdividing the prototype structure into a set of axisymmetric shell components, fluid components, and spring-mass components

Is the Underclass Really a Class?

    Get PDF
The concept of an underclass departs from previous determinations of social class based on criteria of education, occupation, and income in favor of the more subjective and less quantifiable criteria of the degree of social dislocation and the departure of a population from middle class norms and values. A study reviews current definitions of the underclass ; contrasts this class description with the poor in the 60\u27s and before; and suggests that the underclass is a pejorative label which has the effect of blaming the victim , and has negative implications for the formulation of public policy directed toward the population thus labeled

Growing a God-Centered Academy in the Church: Developing a Spiritually-Grounded Teaching Paradigm

The Sunday schools of some churches of the Mount Olive Baptist District Association, MOBDA, are not well attended. Could effective discipleship teaching and a change in the spiritual formative mind-set of an instructor aid in disciple-making? This thesis will focus on the church’s didactic ministries and the presence of God, the Holy Spirit, in those ministries. An examination of the quality of instruction and teaching materials for authentic and God-centered instruction will be studied. It is necessary that all of the MOBDA church’s teachers have a evidential relationship with the Holy Spirit. An instructor who is consistently spiritually grounded as they disseminate, articulate, and exegetically study the Bible and the teaching materials, will spiritually benefit the students. The pastors, teachers and students participating in the teaching ministries of a regional Baptist District Association will be surveyed. The survey will investigate the possible influence of the Holy Spirit within their teaching processes, whether the teaching materials are spiritually adequate, and how a more spiritually sensitive teaching paradigm may be developed for church growth. Quantitative research will also be conducted to provide additional information concerning: (1) The practices present in the current church teaching paradigms, (2) The phenomena of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit necessary for teaching, (3) An instructor’s spiritual formational impact on the Christian teaching ministries. And (4) Areas of concern in the Christian teaching environment. Survey results will be tabulated, scored and analyzed, providing information that may effectively impact the methodology of each church’s teaching ministries

Evaluating The College And Career Readiness Of High School Students In Chicago, Illinois- Strategies, Actions And Policy Implications For School Districts

During my course of study in my doctoral program, I was made aware of research where there was considerable concern by businesses and corporations regarding the potential candidates for hire graduating from our nation’s colleges and universities and their readiness to be engaged and contribute in their particular workforce and/or industry. As detailed in the book The Global Achievement Gap (Wagner, 2014), this concern arose as the various human resource departments of these corporations and businesses began to discover an “unreadiness” in the educational preparation of graduating college students. Consequently, college admissions departments throughout our country saw more and more college students admitted to their institutions were not prepared for the level of rigor necessary as they entered into their postsecondary career. This research study evaluated and investigated how high school graduates are prepared for college and career readiness, with a focus on the Illinois Board of Education and the Chicago Public Schools, the largest school district in the state. This study also advocated for policy recommendations that are geared to improving the probability of high school graduates being adequately prepared for college rigor, as well as the accountability measures and key factors to ensure students are college and career ready upon graduation

Aeronomy report no. 73: Analysis of sounding rocket data from Punta Chilca, Peru

    Get PDF
A technique is described for measuring electron concentrations in the lower portion of the ionosphere above Punta Chilca. A radio-propagation experiment for measuring Faraday rotation is combined with a dc/Langmuir probe experiment for measuring electron current. The results obtained from the analysis of radio and probe data from Nike Apache 14.532, which was launched at 20:26 UT on May 28, 1975, at a solar zenith angle of 60 deg are presented. A comparison of the profiles of electron concentration indicates that the value of the maximum ionization in the D region under quiet conditions is proportional to the square of the cosine of the solar zenith angle

The Apollo 11 mission is reviewed with emphasis on the collection of lunar samples, their geologic setting, early processing, and preliminary examination. The experience gained during five subsequent missions was applied to obtain physical-chemical data for each sample using photographic and binocular microscope techniques. Topics discussed include: binocular examination procedure; breccia clast dexrriptuons, thin section examinations procedure typical breccia in thin section, typical basalt in thin section, sample histories, and chemical and age data. An index to photographs is included
