Vertex reconstruction framework and its implementation for CMS
The class framework developed for vertex reconstruction in CMS is described.
We emphasize how we proceed to develop a flexible, efficient and reliable piece
of reconstruction software. We describe the decomposition of the algorithms
into logical parts, the mathematical toolkit, and the way vertex reconstruction
integrates into the CMS reconstruction project ORCA. We discuss the tools that
we have developed for algorithm evaluation and optimization and for code

New vertex reconstruction algorithms for CMS
The reconstruction of interaction vertices can be decomposed into a pattern
recognition problem (``vertex finding'') and a statistical problem (``vertex
fitting''). We briefly review classical methods. We introduce novel approaches
and motivate them in the framework of high-luminosity experiments like at the
LHC. We then show comparisons with the classical methods in relevant physics

SModelS: a tool for interpreting simplified-model results from the LHC and its application to supersymmetry
We present a general procedure to decompose Beyond the Standard Model (BSM)
collider signatures presenting a Z2 symmetry into Simplified Model Spectrum
(SMS) topologies. Our method provides a way to cast BSM predictions for the LHC
in a model independent framework, which can be directly confronted with the
relevant experimental constraints. Our concrete implementation currently
focusses on supersymmetry searches with missing energy, for which a large
variety of SMS results from ATLAS and CMS are available. As show-case examples
we apply our procedure to two scans of the minimal supersymmetric standard
model. We discuss how the SMS limits constrain various particle masses and
which regions of parameter space remain unchallenged by the current SMS

SModelS v1.0: a short user guide
SModelS is a tool for the automatic interpretation of simplified-model
results from the LHC. Version 1.0 of the code is now publicly available. This

Implementation and application of kinematic vertex fitting in the software environment of ILD
The vertex reconstruction toolkit RAVE has been extended by an option for the
inclusion of kinematic constraints, and embedded into the ILD analysis
framework Marlin. The new tools have been tested with an exemplary
reconstruction of WW and ZZ decays. The presented results show the improvements
achieved in precision of the fitted masses, and demonstrate the usage and

Effect of immediate all-digital restoration of single posterior implants: The SafetyCrown concept on patient-reported outcome measures, accuracy, and treatment time-A randomized clinical trial.
OBJECTIVE
The SafetyCrown workflow facilitates the immediate restoration of posterior single sites with the one-abutment/one-time concept. This randomized clinical trial aimed to assess the direct effect of immediate restoration on dental patient-reported outcomes (dPROs), feasibility, implant accuracy, and time.
MATERIALS AND METHODS
Participants with a single posterior edentulous site for late implant placement underwent optical impressions, shade selection, and cone beam computed tomography. After virtual treatment planning, they were randomized into the test group and the control group. For the test group, individual definitive hybrid abutments were prefabricated. The next step was a fully guided surgery with printed guides. After the implant was placed using guided surgery, the abutment was inserted. A chairside CAD/CAM workflow was used to provide the patient with a provisional restoration. Implants in the control group were left submerged to heal. Oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) was assessed using the OHIP-G14, and dPRO was measured using a 10-item visual analog scale (VAS) questionnaire. Additional measurements of implant accuracy and time were performed. Follow-up was performed 7 to 10âdays after implant placement.
RESULTS
Thirty-nine participants with 45 restorations were included (test group: 23, control: 22). Immediate restoration was successful in 21 out of 23 implants (91.3%) in the test group. Both groups exhibited decreased OHRQoL without significant intergroup differences, while patient satisfaction was high overall. Test group participants perceived higher benefits and satisfaction with immediate loading than participants in the control group. Implant accuracy averaged 0.60âmm at the shoulder and 0.95âmm at the apex. Operative time was longer in the immediate loading group (61.9âmin) than in the control group (32.1âmin) (pâ<â0.001).
CONCLUSIONS
Considering the limitations, the immediate restoration of late placed posterior implants using the described workflow proved feasible in 21 out of 23 cases. Both groups achieved high patient satisfaction with no differences in OHRQoL during the first week. Patients who received immediate loading rated the benefits very highly and were satisfied with the provisional restoration during the healing period
Sonic hedgehog is a potent chemoattractant for human monocytes: diabetes mellitus inhibits Sonic hedgehog-induced monocyte chemotaxis
The aim of the present study was to evaluate the expression of hedgehog (Hh) signaling molecules and the chemotactic activity of Sonic hedgehog (Shh) in monocytes from control (CTR) and diabetic patients with or without coronary artery disease (CAD). Previously several studies demonstrated that exogenous administration of Shh can induce angiogenesis and accelerate repair of ischemic myocardium and skeletal muscles. Blood samples were collected from (1) CTR (n = 25); (2) patients with stable CAD without diabetes mellitus (CADâDM, n = 10); and (3) with stable CAD with DM (CAD+DM, n = 15). Monocytes were isolated by Percoll gradient and subjected to PCR and chemotaxis analysis. Hh signaling molecules were expressed in human monocytes, and Shh-induced monocyte chemotaxis. Shh-stimulated migration of monocytes from CTR measured 172.5 ± 90% and a maximal stimulation was observed at Shh concentration of 1 Όg/ml. However, Shh failed to induce migration of monocytes from CAD+DM (94.3 ± 27%, P < 0.001 vs. CTR). The impaired response to Shh was associated with strong transcriptional upregulation of the receptor Ptc, while expression of downstream molecules was not altered. Moreover, Ptc is strongly expressed in macrophages of human aortic atherosclerotic plaque. Thus, Shh is a potent chemoattractant for monocytes and it activates classical signaling pathways related to migration. The Shh signaling was negatively affected by DM which might be involved in the pathogenesis of DM-related complications
