Peri-ampullary mixed acinar-endocrine carcinoma

Mixed acinar-endocrine carcinomas (MAEC) are rare tumors of the pancreas. We present the case of a patient with periampullary tumor that presented with painless jaundice and after investigation was found to have MAEC. He underwent pancreaticoduo-dunectomy with tumor free margins and negative lymph nodes. The patient presented with local recurrence and liver metastasis after 1 year and is on chemotherapy with stable lesions 30 months after the diagnosis

Inflammatory pseudo-tumor of the liver: a rare pathological entity

Inflammatory pseudo-tumor (IPT) of the liver is a rare benign neoplasm and is often mistaken as a malignant entity. Few cases have been reported in the literature and the precise etiology of inflammatory pseudotumor remains unknown. Patients usually present with fever, abdominal pain and jaundice. The proliferation of spindled myofibroblast cells mixed with variable amounts of reactive inflammatory cells is characteristics of IPT. Propafenone hepatotoxicity: Report of a new case and review of the literature

Propafenone is a class Ic antiarrhythmic drug. It is a beta-adrenergic blocker that causes bradycardia and bronchospasm. It is metabolized primarily in the liver. Its bioavailability and plasma concentration differ among patients under long-term therapy. They are genetically determined by the hepatic cytochrome P-450 2D6. Hepatic toxicity is highly uncommon. To date, only eight patients were reported in the reviewed world literature. In this article, one new case will be reported emphasizing the importance of medication history taking in patients presenting with new-onset liver enzymes abnormalities
