Anti-hipercholesterolemia of Anredera Cordifolia in Hypercholesterolemia Rat Wistar Through Decrease of Malondialdehyde and 8-hydroxy-diguanosine
High cholesterol diet leads to increase of plasma cholesterol and subsequently will end up with hypercholesterolemia. Ignorance of healthy food and lacks of activity are the trend of modern life style. These conditions exacerbated the incidence of hypercholesterolemia in either developed or developing countries. This research aims to determine potential of anredera cordifolia leafs extracts as an anti-hypercholesterolemia by lowering of malondialdehyde (MDA) and 8-hydroxy-diguanosine (8-OHdG) blood levels in hypercholesterolemia Wistar Rat. This is an experimental study applied post only control group design. A number of 15 male wistar rats were used in this study. Rats were randomly divided into 3 groups, i.e. negative control group (C1), positive control group (C2) and anredera cordifolia leaf extract at dose of 100 mg/kg BW group (T). MDA was determined based on malondialdehyde assay (NWLSSTM). 8-OHdG was determined based on oxidative DNA Damage (Cell Biolabs, Inc). The mean difference between control and treatment was assessed by applying ANOVA and consider significant at p < 0.05. In this study, we observed that there were a significant of MDA and 8-OHdG levels between group C1 and T; C2 and T within p < 0.05. This result indicates anredera cordifolia leafs extract has an ability to inhibit hypercholesterolemia in wistar rat fed with high cholesterol diet
Fabrication of Combined Prosthesis with Castable Extracoronal Attachments (Laboratory Procedure)
Background : Nows a days has developed many kind of dentures to improve the functionality, comfort aesthetics. Stability, retention and its aesthetic can be improved by attachments. With many kind design assortment of dentures so need a different technique with the existing design. Purpose : The aim of this study is to know the danture manufacturing process in combination with Castable protesa Extracoronal Attachments labolatory procedure. Review: Fixed dentures are each bonded teeth protesa, inserted mechanically and support by teeth or dental implant abutment or that provide the main support for the dental protesa. A partial denture is a spin-off protesa that replaces one or more missing teeth, on the maxillary or mandibullary and can be opened by patients without the supervision of a dentist. Extracoronal attachment is an attachment that is part of the male and female part are almost entirely outside the contours of the Crown of the tooth. Conclusion: the initial stages are making of coping use wax pattern and inserted the female, the casting of metal, porcelain applications, making the wax pattern of the metal frame work, the casting of metal, inserted male, making a removable dentures
Oral Intake of Sardinella Longiceps Oil the Decrease of Tnf-? and Il-6 Levels in Atherosclerotic Wistar Rat
Lifestyle changes to consumption of variegated instant food may be associated several heath hazards, such as obesity, dyslipidemia, and atheroschlerosis. This study was conducted to investigate the effects of orally administered Sardinella longiceps oil as an anti inflammatory agent on the serum levels of TNF-? and IL-6 considered as biomarkers for atherosclerosis. The study design is an true experimental with randomized pretest and posttest control group design, using 50 Wistar rat equaly divided into 5 groups, i.e. placebo control group 0% and 4 treatment groups each treated daily with 10%, 15 %, 20 % and 25 % fish oil respectively for 6 weeks. Before the treatment was started, all rats were orally fed daily with a high cholesterol diet for 13 weeks to induce atherosclerosis. Our study showed that the intake of 20% fish oil had resulted in the significantly greatest decrease of 45,63 % in the TNF-? serum levels, from 28.62 ± 1.25 to 15.56 ± 7.20 ?g/mL and similar significant decrease 15,42% in of IL-6 serum levels from 134.64 ± 1.98 to 113.87 ± 4.30 ?g/mL. The overall results of our study seemed to imply than in the Wistar rats, oral intake of Sardfinella longiceps oils signifacantly decreased serum levels of TNF-? and IL-6 probably through their anti-inflamatory effects. Futher research to determin the magnitude of effects sardinella longiceps oils on the serum levels TNF-? and IL-6 human
The Isolation DNA Chromosome of Aeromonas Hydrophila Bacteria Isolate Local East Java
Aeromonasis Disease or the Ulcer Diseases caused by Aeromonas hydrophila often attacks fish and shrimps in ponds or aquariums. Aeromonasis shows clinical symptom of petechiae in scale and causes death. Aeromonasis can cause economic loss if not treated with medication accompanied with improved sanitation. This disease affects many freshwater fish farms in East Java. In a previous study, the authors had managed to characterize the antigenic protein derived from the OMP (outer membrane protein) Aeromonas hydrophila, therefore, it is necessary to perform sequencing protein-coding DNA. To achieve that goal, some of the explorative research laboratory methods performed are: Isolation of DNA fragments Aeromonas hydrophila through four stages, cell cultivation and harvesting of bacterial cells, cell lysis, DNA purification and concentration chromosomal DNA. The results will be used as a predictive immunogenic determinant by the method Kolaskar and Tongaonkar.
Keywords: Aeromonas hydrophila, chromosomal DNA, immunogenic determinan
Knowledge and Preventive Action of Pulmonary Tuberculosis Transmission in Household Contacts
Tuberculosis is an infectious disease directly caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Family involvement for its prevention need to be taken into account includes knowledge, attitudes and practice. The purpose of this study was to analyze the differences of the prevention behavior of the disease in household contact families in the working area of Puskesmas Rangkah, Pacar Keling and Gading at Surabaya 2015. This research was case control study uses a sample of 25 cases and 25 control samples. Collecting data using questionnaires to obtain information about the variables: the prevention of the disease transmission, socio-economic status, gender, knowledge and attitudes. The results showed that the majority of respondents have a socio-economic status in the low category (72 %), female (58 %), have a good knowledge (78 %), a good attitude (72 %), and good transmission prevention of pulmonary TB (56 %). Chi square test showed that there is a gender difference (p = 0.010). Wilxocon Mann Whitney test shows that no differences in socioeconomic status (p = 0.533), attitude ( p = 0.212 ) and there are differences in knowledge (p = 0.018) and action (p = 0.000) prevention of transmission of the disease in the household contacts. It can be concluded that there is a difference in behavior includes knowledge and preventive measures of pulmonary TB transmission in the household contacts. Suggest the need for cooperation and intervention from a health personnel to family and patient as well as the strong motivation of the people against infection-prevention measures of pulmonary TB
The Differences of the Behavioral Factors of Midwifes in UCI Village and Non UCI
2-3 millions of people in all groups of age die every year caused by the diseases that can be prevented by immunization: diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus and measles. It is due to the UCI village target from year to year are not increased properly. One of the reasons of the unattainable UCI\u27s target is due to the factor of the officers. This research aims to determine the differences of the characteristic and the behavioral of the officers in UCI village as well as non-UCI in the District of Pasuruan (Kabupaten Pasuruan). The research is conducted by using the design of cross sectional. The samples in this study were 76 village midwifes. Sampling was stratified random sampling method. Data were analyzed using chi square statistical test. The independent variabel is the status of village UCI. The dependent variable is the characteristics of the village midwifes ( age, background of the knowledge, work experiences, employment status, training and double/dual duty), knowledge, action and attitude. There are significant differences in some variables of obstetricians such as the work experiences (p=0,023), the employment status (p=0,030), the double/dual duty (p=0,013), the knowledge (p=0,003), the action (p=0,017), and the behavior (p=0,045). Meanwhile, several variables have not significant differences, such as the age (p=0,193), the knowledge (p=0,185), the training activity (p=0,762), and the behavioral (0,219). Based on the brief explanation above, we can draw the conclusion that there are the differentiations in UCI village as well as non UCI village from the officers including the factors of the work experiences, the staffing, the double duty, the knowledge, the action and behavior. The policy so that the obstetricians will focus on running the programs in accordance with the skills
