    Poster no. C-1406Amyloidosis is an uncommon heterogeneous group of diseases caused by extracellular deposition of the amyloid protein. The amyloid deposits demonstrate apple-green birefringence under a polarized light microscope after staining with Congo red, and presence of rigid and non-branching fibrils of 7.5-10 nm diameters on electron microscopy.
