    Digital Simulation for Automobile Maneuvers

    A new all-digital simulation of automobile handling allows severe maneuvers involving braking or accel eration and cornering. A novel feature is the in corporation of closed-loop control based on a mathematical model of the human driver. The program is modular and well-documented.     High-precision calculations of van der Waals coefficients for heteronuclear alkali-metal dimers

    Van der Waals coefficients for the heteronuclear alkali-metal dimers of Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs, and Fr are calculated using relativistic ab initio methods augmented by high-precision experimental data.     The emission of X-rays by fission fragments

    Approximately 5% of the Îł-ray transitions in fission fragments are internally converted, giving rise to X-rays. X-ray energies are characteristic of Z, but yields depend strongly and not smoothly on Z and A of the fragments and on time. If these biases can be accepted, X-rays can be used to identify the atomic number of fission fragments.
