Neutron diffraction study of nickel zirconium hydride

Neutron diffraction studies have been carried out on powder samples of NiZrH3 and NiZrD3. The x-ray space group and heavy atom positions are confirmed. Hydrogen atoms are located in 4 fold and 8 fold positions of the orthorhombic space group Cmcm. The 8 fold hydrogen atoms have three Zr and one Ni close neighbor while the 4 fold hydrogen atoms have an approximate five-fold coordination.Les études par diffraction neutronique ont été faites sur des échantillons de poudres de NiZrH3 et NiZrD3. Le groupe d'espace aux rayons X et les positions des atomes lourds sont confirmés. Les atomes d'hydrogène sont localisés en position 4 et 8 du groupe d'espace orthorhombique Cmcm. Les atomes d'hydrogène en position 8 ont trois Zr et un Ni comme proches voisins tandis que les hydrogènes en position 4 ont une coordination 5 approximativement
