A Proposed Analysis of Planning Factors within the Interpretive Planning Process
Every year, millions of people visit parks and preserves and in the process, learn about the natural and cultural resources of these areas. These resources typically include, but are not limited to, unique features of geology, hydrology, wildlife, vegetation, and historical and prehistorical influences. Many of these resources may be fragile, which is often the reason for park or preserve establishment, and therefore vulnerable to the impacts created through uncontrolled visitor use. If these resources are not protected from improper recreational use, the activities have the potential to influence the species composition and diversity of vegetation, soil properties and stability of the recreation environment, the behavior and population levels of various wildlife species, and the overall quality of the visitors \u27 experience (Kuss et al. 1990)

A Demjanenko Matrix for Abelian Fields of Prime Power Conductor
AbstractWe introduce a generalized Demjanenko matrix associated with an arbitrary abelian field of odd prime power conductor, and exhibit direct connections between this matrix and both the relative class number and the cyclotomic units of the field. Beyond using the analytic class number formula, all arguments are elementary. Combining the two connections yields a simple proof that the relative class number is odd if and only if all the totally positive cyclotomic units are squares of cyclotomic units, which was known by results of Hasse and Garbanati. An interesting feature of our new class number formula is its expression as the determinant of a matrix with relatively small integer entries. Thus we also easily obtain a reasonable upper bound on the relative class number
Thermodynamic Entropy And The Accessible States of Some Simple Systems
Comparison of the thermodynamic entropy with Boltzmann's principle shows that
under conditions of constant volume the total number of arrangements in simple
thermodynamic systems with temperature-independent heat capacities is TC/k. A
physical interpretation of this function is given for three such systems; an
ideal monatomic gas, an ideal gas of diatomic molecules with rotational motion,
and a solid in the Dulong-Petit limit of high temperature. T1/2 emerges as a
natural measure of the number of accessible states for a single particle in one
dimension. Extension to N particles in three dimensions leads to TC/k as the
total number of possible arrangements or microstates. The different microstates
of the system are thus shown a posteriori to be equally probable, with
probability T-C/k, which implies that for the purposes of counting states the
particles of the gas are distinguishable. The most probable energy state of the
system is determined by the degeneracy of the microstates.Comment: 9 pages, 1 figur

BARBELL ACCELERATION ANALYSIS ON VARIOUS INTENSITIES OF WEIGHTLIFTING
The purpose of this study was to examine how various intensity levels influence the peak barbell acceleration in weightlifting. USA weightlifting resident team members (n=9, men:5 & women:4) participated in this study. They performed two repetitions at intensities of 80, 85, and 90% of 1 repetition maximum (total six repetitions). The peak barbell acceleration was measured at the 2nd pull phase of the snatch/clean. A one-way repeated measure ANOVA was used to analyze the effects of the intensity levels (p = .05). The results showed that intensity has a significant effect on the peak barbell acceleration (F(2,16) = 11.49, p < .001). The peak barbell acceleration decreased as the intensity level increased (80%: 19.63±3.04, 85%: 16.78±3.56, 90%: 13.65±3.50). Comparison between elite and beginners or other power-oriented athletes can be considered in future studies
