    Single chargino production via gluon-gluon fusion in a supersymmetric theory with an explicit R-parity violation

    We studied the production of single charginoχ~1±\tilde{\chi}_1^{\pm} accompanied by μ∓\mu^{\mp} lepton via gluon-gluon fusion at the LHC. The numerical analysis of their production rates is carried out in the mSUGRA scenario with some typical parameter sets. The results show that the cross sections of the χ~1±μ∓\tilde{\chi}_1^{\pm}\mu^{\mp} productions via gluon-gluon collision are in the order of 1∼1021 \sim 10^{2} femto barn quantitatively at the CERN LHC, and can be competitive with production mechanism via quark-antiquark annihilation process.Comment: LaTex file, 18 pages, 4 EPS file

    Signals of neutralinos and charginos from gauge boson fusion at the CERN Large Hadron Collider

    We point out that interesting signals of the non-strongly interacting sector of the supersymmetric standard model arise from the production of charginos and neutralinos via vector boson fusion (VBF) at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). In particular, if R-parity is violated, the hadronically quiet signals of charginos and neutralinos through direct production get considerably suppressed. We show that in such cases, the VBF channel can be useful in identifying this sector through clean and background-free final states.Comment: 10 pages Latex, 8 figures, minor changes in text and few references added, to be published in Phys.     Ultrathin 2 nm gold as ideal impedance-matched absorber for infrared light

    Thermal detectors are a cornerstone of infrared (IR) and terahertz (THz) technology due to their broad spectral range. These detectors call for suitable broad spectral absorbers with minimalthermal mass. Often this is realized by plasmonic absorbers, which ensure a high absorptivity butonly for a narrow spectral band. Alternativly, a common approach is based on impedance-matching the sheet resistance of a thin metallic film to half the free-space impedance. Thereby, it is possible to achieve a wavelength-independent absorptivity of up to 50 %, depending on the dielectric properties of the underlying substrate. However, existing absorber films typicallyrequire a thickness of the order of tens of nanometers, such as titanium nitride (14 nm), whichcan significantly deteriorate the response of a thermal transducers. Here, we present the application of ultrathin gold (2 nm) on top of a 1.2 nm copper oxide seed layer as an effective IR absorber. An almost wavelength-independent and long-time stable absorptivity of 47(3) %, ranging from 2 μ\mum to 20 μ\mum, could be obtained and is further discussed. The presented gold thin-film represents analmost ideal impedance-matched IR absorber that allows a significant improvement of state-of-the-art thermal detector technology

    Quantum Correlation in One-dimensional Extend Quantum Compass Model

    We study the correlations in the one-dimensional extended quantum compass model in a transverse magnetic field. By exactly solving the Hamiltonian, we find that the quantum correlation of the ground state of one-dimensional quantum compass model is vanishing. We show that quantum discord can not only locate the quantum critical points, but also discern the orders of phase transitions.     Supersymmetric Electroweak Corrections to the Higgs Boson Decays into Chargino or Neutralino Pair

    We investigate the supersymmetric electroweak corrections to the decay widths of the CP-odd and the heavy CP-even Higgs bosons into chargino or neutralino pair in the framework of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model. The corrections involve the contributions of the order O(αewmt(b)3/mW3)O(\alpha_{ew} m_{t(b)}^3/m_W^3), O(αewmt(b)2/mW2)O(\alpha_{ew} m_{t(b)}^2/m_W^2) and O(αewmt(b)/mW)O(\alpha_{ew} m_{t(b)}/m_W). The detailed calculations of the electroweak corrections to the following decay processes: A0/H0→χ~1+χ~1−A^0/H^0 \to \tilde{\chi}^+_1 \tilde{\chi}^-_1 and A0/H0→χ~20χ~20A^0/H^0 \to \tilde{\chi}^0_2 \tilde{\chi}^0_2 are presented in this paper. We find that these relative corrections maybe rather large quantitatively, and can exceed 10% in some regions of parameter space. The corrections to the decay A0/H0→χ~10χ~20A^0/H^0 \to \tilde{\chi}^0_1 \tilde{\chi}^0_2 can be obtained analogously, but our results show that they are very small and can be neglected.Comment: 25 pages, 9 figures,accepted by Physical Review

    Single gluino production in the R-parity lepton number violating MSSM at the LHC

    We examine the RpR_{p}-violating signal of single gluino production associated with a charged lepton or neutrino at the large hadron collider (LHC), in the model of R-parity relaxed supersymmetric model. If the parameters in the /Rp{\rlap/R}_p supersymmetric interactions are not too small, and the mass of gluino is considered in the range from several GeV (as the Lightest Supersymmetric Particle) to 800 GeV, the cross section of the single gluino production via Drell-Yan processes can be in the order of 102∼10310^2 \sim 10^3 femto barn, and that via gluon fusion in the order of 10−1∼10310^{-1} \sim 10^3 femto barn. If the gluino decay can be well detected in the CERN LHC, this process provides a prospective way to probe supersymmetry and RpR_p violation.Comment: LaTex, 22 pages, 5 EPS file

    Electroweak Corrections to the Charged Higgs Boson Decay into Chargino and Neutralino

    The electroweak corrections to the partial widths of the H+→χ~i+χ~j0(i=1,j=1,2)H^+ \to \tilde{\chi}^+_i \tilde{\chi}_j^0 (i=1,j=1,2) decays including one-loop diagrams of the third generation quarks and squarks, are investigated within the Supersymmetric Standard Model.
