3MT : A fine time to find primes

    Get PDF
We all have a shared history; when we were in primary school, our teachers told us that a number is prime if it’s only divisible by one and itself. We might also share severe scarring, from when we popped our little hand in the air and asked the question: primes - what are they good for

    Solid weak BCC-algebras

We characterize weak BCC-algebras in which the identity (xy)z=(xz)y(xy)z=(xz)y is satisfied only in the case when elements x,yx,y belong to the same branch

Additivity of Quadrupole Moments in Superdeformed Bands: Single-Particle Motion at Extreme Conditions

    Get PDF
Quadrupole and hexadecapole moments of superdeformed bands in the AA∌\sim150 mass region have been analyzed in the cranking Skyrme-Hartree-Fock model. It is demonstrated that, independently of the intrinsic configuration and of the proton and neutron numbers, the charge moments calculated with respect to the doubly-magic superdeformed core of 152^{152}Dy can be expressed very precisely in terms of independent contributions from the individual hole and particle orbitals. This result, together with earlier studies of the moments of inertia distributions, suggests that many features of the superdeformed bands in the AA∌\sim150 mass region can be very well understood in terms of an almost undisturbed single-particle motion.Comment: 10 RevTeX pages, 1 uuencoded POSTSCRIPT figure include

    Properties of Bipolar Fuzzy Hypergraphs

In this article, we apply the concept of bipolar fuzzy sets to hypergraphs and investigate some properties of bipolar fuzzy hypergraphs. We introduce the notion of A−A- tempered bipolar fuzzy hypergraphs and present some of their properties. We also present application examples of bipolar fuzzy hypergraphs

A description of n-ary semigroups polynomial-derived from integral domains

    Get PDF
We provide a complete classification of the n-ary semigroup structures defined by polynomial functions over infinite commutative integral domains with identity, thus generalizing G{\l}azek and Gleichgewicht's classification of the corresponding ternary semigroups

Note on the number of divisors of reducible quadratic polynomials

In a recent paper, Lapkova uses a Tauberian theorem to derive the asymptotic formula for the divisor sum ∑n≀xd(n(n+v))\sum_{n \leq x} d( n (n+v)) where vv is a fixed integer and d(n)d(n) denotes the number of divisors of nn. We reprove her result by following a suggestion of Hooley, namely investigating the relationship between this sum and the well-known sum ∑n≀xd(n)d(n+v)\sum_{n \leq x} d( n ) d (n+v). As such, we are able to furnish additional terms in the asymptotic formula

Representations of Menger (2,n)(2,n)-semigroups by multiplace functions

Investigation of partial multiplace functions by algebraic methods plays an important role in modern mathematics were we consider various operations on sets of functions, which are naturally defined. The basic operation for nn-place functions is an (n+1)(n+1)-ary superposition [][ ], but there are some other naturally defined operations, which are also worth of consideration. In this paper we consider binary Mann's compositions \op{1},...,\op{n} for partial nn-place functions, which have many important applications for the study of binary and nn-ary operations. We present methods of representations of such algebras by nn-place functions and find an abstract characterization of the set of nn-place functions closed with respect to the set-theoretic inclusion
