The Oblique Corrections from Heavy Scalars in Irreducible Representations

The contributions to SS, TT, and UU from heavy scalars in any irreducible representation of the electroweak gauge group SU(2)LĂ—U(1)YSU(2)_L\times U(1)_Y are obtained. We find that in the case of a heavy scalar doublet there is a slight difference between the SS parameter we have obtained and that in previous works.Comment: 6 pages, 2 axodraw figures; minor changes, references update

Quark Mass Ratios in ChPT with the Difference of Quark Condensates Considered

    Get PDF
The chiral effective Lagrangian for pseudoscalar nonet is constructed in consideration of isospin breaking. And the difference of quark condensates is taken accounted. The SU(3) singlet eta0 is not taken as Goldstone-boson. The mixing with and without isospin symmetry is considered. The quark mass ratios are obtained through solving the mass equations of mesons. We estimate the change of quark mass ratios according to the change of the masses of pion+ and kaon+ to see how the electromagnetic corrections affect our results. It turn out that massless up quark is possible. The upper limit for mu/md is around 0.39. 2ms/(mu+md)=24.23~25.12. The values for quark condensate ratios and other constants are limited in narrow ranges.Comment: 10 page

Maximally entangled mixed states of two atoms trapped inside an optical cavity

In some off-resonant cases, the reduced density matrix of two atoms symmetrically coupled with an optical cavity can very approximately approach to maximally entangled mixed states or maximal Bell violation mixed states in their evolution. The influence of phase decoherence on the generation of maximally entangled mixed state is also discussed. Influence of intrinsic decoherence on nonclassical properties of the output of a Bose-Einstein condensate

We investigate nonclassical properties of the output of a Bose-Einstein condensate in Milburn's model of intrinsic decoherence. It is shown that the squeezing property of the atom laser is suppressed due to decoherence. Nevertheless, if some very special conditions were satisfied, the squeezing properties of atom laser could be robust against the decoherence.Comment: 17 pages, 5 figures, Late

Derivations of Atomic Ionization Effects Induced by Neutrino Magnetic Moments

A recent paper [M.B. Voloshin, Phys. Rev. Lett. 105, 201801 (2010)] pointed out that our earlier derivations of atomic ionization cross-section due to neutrino magnetic moments (arXiv:1001.2074v2) involved unjustified assumptions. We confirm and elaborate on this comment with these notes. We caution that the results of the sum-rule approach in this paper contradict the expected behaviour in atomic transitions.Comment: V3 3 pages ; confirm and elaborate on unjustified assumptions in V1 & V
