KLT-type relations for QCD and bicolor amplitudes from color-factor symmetry
Color-factor symmetry is used to derive a KLT-type relation for tree-level
QCD amplitudes containing gluons and an arbitrary number of massive or massless
quark-antiquark pairs, generalizing the expression for Yang-Mills amplitudes
originally postulated by Bern, De Freitas, and Wong. An explicit expression is
given for all amplitudes with two or fewer quark-antiquark pairs in terms of
the (modified) momentum kernel.
We also introduce the bicolor scalar theory, the "zeroth copy" of QCD,
containing massless biadjoint scalars and massive bifundamental scalars,
generalizing the biadjoint scalar theory of Cachazo, He, and Yuan. We derive
KLT-type relations for tree-level amplitudes of biadjoint and bicolor theories
using the color-factor symmetry possessed by these theories.Comment: 24 pages, 2 figures; v2: added referenc
Radiometric absolute noise-temperature measurement system features improved accuracy and calibration ease
Radiometric receiver system, which measures noise temperatures in degrees Kelvin, does not require cryogenic noise sources for routine operation. It eliminates radiometer calibration errors associated with RF attenuation measurements. Calibrated noise source is required only for laboratory adjustment and calibration
Life science payloads planning study integration facility survey results
The integration facility survey effort described is structured to examine the facility resources needed to conduct life science payload (LSP) integration checkout activities at NASA-JSC. The LSP integration facility operations and functions are defined along with the LSP requirements for facility design. A description of available JSC life science facilities is presented and a comparison of accommodations versus requirements is reported
A Preliminary Study of Airplane Performance
Flight tests were carried out at the Langley Field laboratory of the NACA, on several airplanes for the purpose of determining their relative performance with the same engine and the same propeller. The method used consisted in flying each airplane on a level course and measuring the airspeed for the whole range of engine revolutions. In general the results show that a small change in the wing section or the wing area has but a slight effect upon the performance, but changes in those parts which cause the structural resistance have a very important effect
Life Science Payloads Planning Study Integration Facility Survey: Executive Summary
Analyses of proposed life science shuttle era payload operations are discussed. A summary of results from a survey conducted to: (1) examine facility and equipment resources needed for life science payload integration, checkout, test and mission support activities; (2) identify presently available resources; and (3) determine methods by which operational era status may be implemented based on currently available resources, is presented
Age discrimination among basalt flows using digitally enhanced LANDSAT imagery
Digitally enhanced LANDSAT MSS data were used to discriminate among basalt flows of historical to Tertiary age, at a test site in Northwestern Saudi Arabia. Spectral signatures compared favorably with a field-defined classification that permits discrimination among five groups of basalt flows on the basis of geomorphic criteria. Characteristics that contributed to age definition include: surface texture, weathering, color, drainage evolution, and khabrah development. The inherent gradation in the evolution of geomorphic parameters, however, makes visual extrapolation between areas subjective. Therefore, incorporation of spectrally-derived volcanic units into the mapping process should produce more quantitatively consistent age groupings
Estimation of Ksub Ic from slow bend precracked Charpy specimen strength ratios
Strength ratios are reported which were derived from slow bend tests on 0.25 inch thick precracked Charpy specimens of steels, aluminum alloys, and a titanium alloy for which valid K sub Ic values were established. The strength ratios were used to develop calibration curves typical of those that could be useful in estimating K sub Ic for the purposes of alloy development of quality control

The estimation of pointing angle and normalized surface scattering cross section from GEOS-3 radar altimeter measurements
The statistical error of the pointing angle estimation technique is determined as a function of the effective receiver signal to noise ratio. Other sources of error are addressed and evaluated with inadequate calibration being of major concern. The impact of pointing error on the computation of normalized surface scattering cross section (sigma) from radar and the waveform attitude induced altitude bias is considered and quantitative results are presented. Pointing angle and sigma processing algorithms are presented along with some initial data. The intensive mode clean vs. clutter AGC calibration problem is analytically resolved. The use clutter AGC data in the intensive mode is confirmed as the correct calibration set for the sigma computations
