Visual Analytics in Software Maintenance:Challenges and Opportunities

    Get PDF
Visual analytics (VA) is an emerging science at the crossroads of data and information visualization, graphics, data min-ing, and knowledge representation, with many successful applications in engineering, business and finance, security, geo-sciences, and e-governance and health. Tools using visualization, data mining, and data analysis are also prominently present in a different field: software maintenance. However, an integrated VA is relatively new for this field. In this paper, we discuss the specific challenges and particularities of applying VA in software engineering, highlight the added value of a VA approach, as distilled by us from several large-scale software engineering industrial projects. 1

Ochroconis gallopava bronchitis mimicking haemoptysis in a patient with bronchiectasis.

Ochroconis gallopava is an anamorphic mould characterized by slow growth rate and production of a maroon pigment, which has been isolated worldwide from soil, thermal springs, decaying vegetation, and chicken litter. It has been reported to cause localized, mostly pulmonary, and systemic infection in severely immunocompromised patients. We describe the case of a 76-year-old woman known for ulcerative colitis-related bronchiectasis treated with low dose oral steroids, who developed a fungal bronchitis with dark, bloody-like, sputum which was initially misinterpreted as haemoptysis. A filamentary mould grew on sputum culture, and was identified by DNA analysis as Ochroconis gallopava. We observed a significant clinical improvement after 6 weeks of itraconazole therapy

Teaching Basketball through Dynamic Games to 11–12-Year-Old Pupils

The purpose of this research is to determine whether there are differences in regards to basketball learning through dynamic games between 11-12-year-old female and male middle schoolers. The subjects of the research were 40 pupils, of which 19 males and 21 females, aged 11- 12, from the “Alexandru cel Bun” Middle School of Bacau. The ANOVA test showed that there are statistically significant differences between the average time recorded by the girls and boys in almost all the challenges. In conclusion, it can be said that basketball is learned differently by 11-12- year-old pupils, according to their gender

TRADITIONAL SPECIALTIES GUARANTEED. EUROPEAN REGISTRATION PROCEDURE

Legal protection of quality schemes aiming traditional specialties is an important step in extending the copyright protection, as it appears viewed broadly. Apart from the sometimes rigid form of the "right", the regulatory purposes are nothing but a set of rules and regulations designed to satisfy the people who have passed down methods and processes through generations, in otder to produce products and food, characteristic to that community

Recovering Hydrogen Sulfide from Sulfurous Waters with PEM Fuel Cells

    Get PDF
AbstractHydrogen sulfide is an environmental pollutant and abundant in various sulfurous waters such as Black Sea. Hydrogen sulfide is in the same time a potential energetic materials as source for hydrogen production. In this respect, designing an appropriate fuel cell with proton exchange membranes (PEMFC) for hydrogen sulfide recovering from sulfurous water is challenge. This study reports a PEMFC with Pt/Pt-Ru catalysts and membrane with perflurosulfonic ionomer. PEMFC was run at different concentrations of hydrogen sulfide in water (50-150mg/L). Even though power densities are in the range microwatts the experimental set-up shows a promising perspective for sulfurous water treatment. A short overview on the actual state of the art in hydrogen sulfide recovering and potential applications of the fuel cells is presented in introduction
