Models of normative consolidation of the municipal police constitutional and legal status
The article is devoted to the comparative legal analysis of normative general and specialized legal acts, which indirectly or directly fix the constitutional and legal status of the lower level of public order protection bodies - the municipal police. The relevance of this study is explained by the attribution of local self-government bodies to the number of subjects of public order protection in the Russian Federation through the establishment of the municipal police, after the adoption of a specialized law on the municipal police. The comparative legal study made it possible to highlight the existing models of normative consolidation of the municipal police constitutional and legal status in accordance with the form of state structure
Dependence of element composition of bile of freshwater and marine fishes on some abiotic and biotic factors
Introduction: The elemental composition and physical properties of fish bile is a very important marker for ecotoxicological and physiological studies as bile is able to accumulate elements from environmental compartments. In the present study we focused on the effects of long term (seasons and years) and spatial distance (different water bodies) as well as other biotic (feeding habits, fish species, gut morphology) and abiotic (water salinity) factors on element composition of bile of 429 individuals belonging to 22 forms/species of fishes.
Methods: Element composition was determined using an inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry. The fishes were analyzed from one marine (the Kandalaksha Gulf of the White Sea), two freshwater oligotrophic (Teletskoye and Baunt lakes), and one freshwater eutrophic water body (Chany Lake). In parallel, we have estimated the volume and density of bile from the same fishes using an automatic pipette and electronic balance.
Results and discussion: Based on fish bile density and volume data, we hypothesize that gastric fish species (those fishes that have a stomach) require a low volume of bile, but with higher density if compared to agastric fish species (those lacking a stomach) that mainly possessed large volumes of bile, but with a lower density. We have found that the concentrations of the following Na, K, Ca, Mg, S, P (major elements) and Al, Cu, Fe, Sr, Zn (trace elements) were the highest among the 28 elements studied. There were significant findings to contribute to a better understanding of the physiology of bile. First, we have determined the conditions formed in a water body in a given year (season) are more important for element composition of fish bile rather than other tested factors (feeding habits, gut morphology, etc.). Second, the feeding habits of fishes (carnivorous compared to non-carnivorous) had a significant effect based on differences among several elements. Third, the clear distinction between marine and freshwater fishes was found only for K and Na. Understanding which elements are produced as part of waste elimination and those that are present as a consequence of vital biological functions could improve the ecotoxicological study of bile as a marker of heavy metal contamination. The sample collection, expedition, and chemical analyses (for all fish except pike, perch, roach, and ide) were paid by the Russian Science Foundation (grant number 19-74-10054). The sample chemical analyses for pike and perch was supported by the Russian Foundation for Basic Research (grant number 19-34-60028) whereas for roach and ide was paid by Russian international scientific collaboration program Mega-grant (mega-grant № 075-15-2022-1134).info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Trophic diversification and parasitic invasion as ecological niche modulators for gut microbiota of whitefish
Introduction: The impact of parasites on gut microbiota of the host is well documented, but the role of the relationship between the parasite and the host in the formation of the microbiota is poorly understood. This study has focused on the influence that trophic behavior and resulting parasitism has on the structure of the microbiome.
Methods: Using 16S amplicon sequencing and newly developed methodological approaches, we characterize the gut microbiota of the sympatric pair of whitefish Coregonus lavaretus complex and the associated microbiota of cestodes parasitizing their intestine. The essence of the proposed approaches is, firstly, to use the method of successive washes of the microbiota from the cestode’s surfaces to analyze the degree of bacterial association to the tegument of the parasite. Secondly, to use a method combining the sampling of intestinal content and mucosa with the washout procedure from the mucosa to understand the real structure of the fish gut microbiota.
Results and discussion: Our results demonstrate that additional microbial community in the intestine are formed by the parasitic helminths that caused the restructuring of the microbiota in infected fish compared to those uninfected. Using the desorption method in Ringer’s solution, we have demonstrated that Proteocephalus sp. cestodes possess their own microbial community which is put together from “surface” bacteria, and bacteria which are weakly and strongly associated with the tegument, bacteria obtained after treatment of the tegument with detergent, and bacteria obtained after removal of the tegument from the cestodes.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Metapopulation Structure of Two Species of Pikeworm (Triaenophorus, Cestoda) Parasitizing the Postglacial Fish Community in an Oligotrophic Lake
In the present study, we estimated the levels of infestation of the main fish species that are hosts for two Triaenophorus species: T. crassus and T. nodulosus. The prevalence of T. crassus and T. nodulosus infestations in the intestine of their definitive host–pike Esox lucius was similar (71.0% and 77.4%, respectively). At the same time, the prevalence of T. crassus infestation in muscle tissue was significantly different between the second intermediate hosts, Coregonus lavaretus pidschian (31.4%) and Cor. l. pravdinellus (91.2%), due to considerable differences in their diets. For T. nodulosus, we found significant variations in the levels of prevalence among the second intermediate hosts—100% for Lota lota, 81.8% for Cottus sibiricus 31.9% for Thymallus arcticus, and 24.5% for Perca fluviatilis—that we also explained using different diets. Moreover, analysis of the symmetry of parasite infestations did not reveal any asymmetry between the number of cysts in the left and right body surfaces of the “planktivorous” form/species of whitefish, whereas in the ‘‘benthivorous”, an asymmetry of parasite infestations was found. The research of 2020 was partially supported by the Russian Foundation for Basic Research (grant number 19-34-60028), the data curation in 2021 was partially supported by the Russian Science Foundation (project No. 19-74-10054), and for 2022 was partially supported by the Russian international scientific collaboration program Mega-grant (mega-grant No. 075-15-2022-1134).info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Design and baseline characteristics of the finerenone in reducing cardiovascular mortality and morbidity in diabetic kidney disease trial
Background: Among people with diabetes, those with kidney disease have exceptionally high rates of cardiovascular (CV) morbidity and mortality and progression of their underlying kidney disease. Finerenone is a novel, nonsteroidal, selective mineralocorticoid receptor antagonist that has shown to reduce albuminuria in type 2 diabetes (T2D) patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) while revealing only a low risk of hyperkalemia. However, the effect of finerenone on CV and renal outcomes has not yet been investigated in long-term trials.
Patients and Methods: The Finerenone in Reducing CV Mortality and Morbidity in Diabetic Kidney Disease (FIGARO-DKD) trial aims to assess the efficacy and safety of finerenone compared to placebo at reducing clinically important CV and renal outcomes in T2D patients with CKD. FIGARO-DKD is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel-group, event-driven trial running in 47 countries with an expected duration of approximately 6 years. FIGARO-DKD randomized 7,437 patients with an estimated glomerular filtration rate >= 25 mL/min/1.73 m(2) and albuminuria (urinary albumin-to-creatinine ratio >= 30 to <= 5,000 mg/g). The study has at least 90% power to detect a 20% reduction in the risk of the primary outcome (overall two-sided significance level alpha = 0.05), the composite of time to first occurrence of CV death, nonfatal myocardial infarction, nonfatal stroke, or hospitalization for heart failure.
Conclusions: FIGARO-DKD will determine whether an optimally treated cohort of T2D patients with CKD at high risk of CV and renal events will experience cardiorenal benefits with the addition of finerenone to their treatment regimen.

Canagliflozin and renal outcomes in type 2 diabetes and nephropathy
BACKGROUND Type 2 diabetes mellitus is the leading cause of kidney failure worldwide, but few effective long-term treatments are available. In cardiovascular trials of inhibitors of sodium–glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2), exploratory results have suggested that such drugs may improve renal outcomes in patients with type 2 diabetes. METHODS In this double-blind, randomized trial, we assigned patients with type 2 diabetes and albuminuric chronic kidney disease to receive canagliflozin, an oral SGLT2 inhibitor, at a dose of 100 mg daily or placebo. All the patients had an estimated glomerular filtration rate (GFR) of 30 to <90 ml per minute per 1.73 m2 of body-surface area and albuminuria (ratio of albumin [mg] to creatinine [g], >300 to 5000) and were treated with renin–angiotensin system blockade. The primary outcome was a composite of end-stage kidney disease (dialysis, transplantation, or a sustained estimated GFR of <15 ml per minute per 1.73 m2), a doubling of the serum creatinine level, or death from renal or cardiovascular causes. Prespecified secondary outcomes were tested hierarchically. RESULTS The trial was stopped early after a planned interim analysis on the recommendation of the data and safety monitoring committee. At that time, 4401 patients had undergone randomization, with a median follow-up of 2.62 years. The relative risk of the primary outcome was 30% lower in the canagliflozin group than in the placebo group, with event rates of 43.2 and 61.2 per 1000 patient-years, respectively (hazard ratio, 0.70; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.59 to 0.82; P=0.00001). The relative risk of the renal-specific composite of end-stage kidney disease, a doubling of the creatinine level, or death from renal causes was lower by 34% (hazard ratio, 0.66; 95% CI, 0.53 to 0.81; P<0.001), and the relative risk of end-stage kidney disease was lower by 32% (hazard ratio, 0.68; 95% CI, 0.54 to 0.86; P=0.002). The canagliflozin group also had a lower risk of cardiovascular death, myocardial infarction, or stroke (hazard ratio, 0.80; 95% CI, 0.67 to 0.95; P=0.01) and hospitalization for heart failure (hazard ratio, 0.61; 95% CI, 0.47 to 0.80; P<0.001). There were no significant differences in rates of amputation or fracture. CONCLUSIONS In patients with type 2 diabetes and kidney disease, the risk of kidney failure and cardiovascular events was lower in the canagliflozin group than in the placebo group at a median follow-up of 2.62 years
Feeding habits shape infection levels by plerocercoids of the tapeworm Triaenophorus crassus in muscle of a sympatric pair of whitefish in an oligotrophic lake
Lake Teletskoye (West Siberia, Russia) is inhabited by a sympatric pair of whitefish, with each member of the pair being characterized by different feeding habits. Coregonus lavaretus pidschian (Gmelin, 1789) is a large ‘benthivorous’ form, while C. l. pravdinellus (Dulkeit,1949) is a small ‘planktivorous’ form. Fish were collected from the end of August to the middle of September in 2017 and 2019–2020 in the north part of Lake Teletskoye. For the ‘benthivorous’ form the prevalence, intensity and abundance of T. crassus ranged from 22.4% to 51.9%, 1.9–2.8 and 0.4–1.3, respectively, whereas the same indices for the ‘planktivorous’ form ranged from 94.7% to 97.5%, 4.2–4.8 and 4.0–4.7, respectively. The level of prevalence of infection and abundance of T. crassus in muscle was relatively stable among studied years for both forms. The level of prevalence was higher in the years 2019 and 2020 than in 2017 for the ‘benthivorous’ form, whereas for the ‘planktivorous’ form this index did not change during the studied years. For the first time, a partial sequencing of the cox1 gene (593 bp) for T. crassus was sequenced. All 15 plerocercoids of T. crassus were represented by four haplotypes

High-Throughput Small-Molecule Crystallography at the ‘Belok’ Beamline of the Kurchatov Synchrotron Radiation Source: Transition Metal Complexes with Azomethine Ligands as a Case Study
This paper concisely describes capabilities of the ‘Belok’ beamline at the Kurchatov synchrotron radiation source, related to high-throughput small-molecule X-ray crystallography. As case examples, a series of four novel transition metal complexes with azomethine ligands were selected. The complexes demonstrate somewhat unexpected changes in the coordination geometry and nuclearity in response to the introduction of substituents in the ligand’s periphery
