    Numerical simulation based on FEM/MLS coupling for solid mechanics

    This paper presents the development of Meshless Methods based on the weighted least squares approximation (MLS) [1,3,14] to solve 2D mechanical problems. A particular construction support of weight functions involved in the construction of the MLS shape functions is elaborated. We propose a numerical simulation based on the coupling between the FEM and the MLS method. A Huerta et al. formulation is used to build the MLS shape function in the transition area FEM/MLS

    El presente trabajo fue realizado con el propósito de investigar la incidencia de los vídeo-juegos en el bajo rendimiento escolar de los estudiantes de las escuelas Emanuel del cantón La Libertad provincia de Santa Elena. Elegida como campo de investigación. Se investigó las causas y efectos que producen los vídeo-juegos. La otra variable que es el rendimiento escolar se realizó mediante la investigación de los registros de calificaciones de los estudiantes, se consideraron los promedios de rendimiento anuales de dos y tres años escolares consecutivos. La investigación de campo se la realizó mediante la técnica de la encuesta utilizando como instrumento cuestionarios restringidos, las mismas que se aplicaron a las autoridades, padres de familia, y estudiantes cuya información fue tabulada y representada en tablas y gráficos, así como el análisis estadístico con respecto al desempeño del rendimiento escolar y se pudo establecer que el escaso conocimiento sobre esta amenaza en los estudios de los niños y niñas da como resultado una solución urgente. La información obtenida en la investigación documental se utilizó para verificación de la hipótesis, determinándose la relación directa entre las variables de la investigación y el efecto desfavorable de los vídeo-juegos en el bajo rendimiento escolar de los estudiantes. Con los resultados de la investigación de campo y documental se formularon conclusiones y recomendaciones. Esta investigación pretende ser un soporte para dimensionar la problemática en las instituciones educativas y estrategias, las mismas pueden ejecutarse para afrontar esta importante causal de bajo rendimiento escolar. Esta investigación pretende ser un aporte en la solución a este fenómeno que cada día se muestra más evidente en las instituciones educativas, pues es necesario dar una salida, utilizando nuevas alternativas para mejorar el proceso de enseñanza y aprendizaje

    Pseudo-divergence-free element free Galerkin method for incompressible fluid flow

    Incompressible modeling in finite elements has been a major concern since its early developments and has been extensively studied. However, incompressibility in mesh-free methods is still an open topic. Thus, instabilities or locking can preclude the use of mesh-free approximations in such problems. Here, a novel mesh-free formulation is proposed for incompressible flow. It is based on defining a pseudo-divergence-free interpolation space. That is, the finite dimensional interpolation space approaches a divergence-free space when the discretization is refined. Note that such an interpolation does not include any overhead in the computations. The numerical evaluations are performed using the inf–sup numerical test and two well-known benchmark examples for Stokes flow

We perform a reparametrization of the input space using constrained shape interpolation by introducing the concept of an α-manifold of admissible meshed shapes. The output space is reduced using constrained Proper Orthogonal Decomposition. By simultaneously using meta-modeling for both spaces, we facilitate interactive design space exploration for the purpose of design. The proposed approach is applied to several industrial problems

    Estimation of the strain field from full-field displacement noisy data. Comparing finite elements global least squares and polynomial diffuse approximation

    International audienceIn this study, the issue of reconstructing strain fields from corrupted full-field displacement data is addressed. Two approaches are proposed, a global one based on Finite Element Approximation (FEA) and a local one based on Diffuse Approximation (DA). Both approaches are compared on a case study which is supposed difficult (open-hole tensile test). DA provides more stable results, but is more CPU time consuming. Eventually, it is proposed to monitor locally the filtering effect of both approaches, the prospects being an impending improvement of the reconstruction for both approaches

    Seasoned Teachers’ Digital Skills Readiness in the Online learning of Selected

    The purpose of the study is to determine the digital skills readiness of seasoned teachers in online learning. This study utilized descriptive quantitative research to determine the level of digital skills readiness of seasoned teachers. The study was conducted in selected elementary schools in Quezon province via a google form survey. The thirty (30) respondents were chosen using purposive sampling because, based on the criteria, the teachers should have more than 10 years of service. After the survey, the researchers record the gathered data and compute the weighted mean of each variable. Based on the findings, seasoned teachers from selected schools in Quezon province differ in their digital skills readiness. Some seasoned teachers may need assistance depending on the nature of the work that requires technology. This study also recommends that seasoned teachers may continuously attend professional development activities to enhance their digital skills. Additionally, a related research study uses a qualitative design to gather in-depth responses from the respondents

    The work Água viva, originally called Objeto gritante, was thoroughly modified until its final version was published. Clarice’s concern with language, however, remains, and there appears to be in the description of an unnamed “behind the thought” a critique of logocentrism. Thus, the present article seeks to analyze what in the work seems to allude to a way of thinking about life, language, and animal beings that escapes from the rationalization principle and gives a new meaning to the term “animality”. Based on issues of the animal raised by Derrida (2006), the concept of perspectivism given by Viveiros de Castro (1996) and the analyses of the writer’s work made by Sammer (2020) and Roncador (2002), the article will also analyze what in Clarice’s writing seems to glimpse at a particular relationship between wo- men and animals, passing also through the concept of écriture féminine as coined by Helène Cixous (1976).A obra Água viva, originalmente chamada de Objeto gritante, foi muitas vezes modificada até sua definitiva versão ser publicada. A preocupação de Clarice com a linguagem, no entanto, se mantém, haver na descrição de um “atrás do pensamento” não-nomeado uma crítica ao logocentrismo. Dessa forma, o presente artigo busca analisar o que na obra parece aludir a uma forma de pensar a vida, a linguagem e os seres animais que foge do princípio de racionalização e dá um novo sentido ao termo “animalidade”. A partir de questões do animal levantadas por Derrida (2006), o conceito de perspectivismo dado por Viveiros de Castro (1996) e as análises da obra da escritora feitas por Sammer (2020) e Roncador (2002), o artigo também analisará o que na escrita de Clarice parece entrever uma relação particular entre mulheres e animais, passando também pelo conceito de écriture féminine tal como cunhado por Helène Cixous (1976)

    La méthode PGD-BEM appliquée à l’équation de la chaleur nonlinéaire

    National audienceDans [1] nous avons proposé une nouvelle méthode non incrémentale pour résoudre l’équation de la chaleur linéaire, la PGD-BEM. Nous proposons, une adaptation de cet algorithme dans le cas où le coefficient de conductivité thermique dépend de la température. Cette approche ne demande pas de connaître le noyau de Green de l’équation de la chaleur non-linéaire, seul le noyau de l’équation de Poisson en espace est nécessaire. Nous validons notre approche sur un exemple numérique
