Utilisation of trash fish. Pt. 1. Preparation of fish flake

The paper deals with the investigations carried out on the preparation of odorless fish-starch flakes using partially deodorized trash fish meat and different sources of starch like corn, tapioca, maida and black gram. It has been found that the products using corn and tapioca are better compared to those prepared using other two starches, the product from corn being the best. The product has a protein content of about 20% and has been found to have a storage life of 4 months at 37°c

Lattice computations of small-x parton distributions in a model of parton densities in very large nuclei

Using weak coupling methods McLerran and Venugopalan~\cite{LV1} expressed the parton distributions in large nuclei as correlation functions of a two dimensional Euclidean field theory. The theory has the dimensionful coupling g^2 \mu , where \mu^2\sim A^{1/3} is the valence quark color charge squared per unit area. We use a lattice regularization to investigate these correlation functions both analytically and numerically for the simplified case of SU(2) gauge theory. In weak coupling (g^2\mu L 5), where L is the transverse size of the nucleus, the numerical results agree with the {\it analytic} lattice weak coupling results. For g^2\mu L 5, no solutions exist at O(a^4) where a is the lattice spacing. This suggests an ill-defined infrared behavior for the two dimensional theory. A recent proposal of McLerran et al.~\cite{Kovner} for an {\it analytic} solution of the classical problem is discussed briefly

An encounter with alobar holoprosencephaly: a case report

Alobar holopresencephaly is a rare embryonic condition where there is anomalous fusion of cerebral hemispheres. The key features include neurological impairment and facial dysmorphism like cyclopia, ocular hypertelorism with divided orbits and a proboscis. Obstetric ultrasound and foetal MRI are the diagnostic modalities. Majority of cases are sporadic in origin while a genetic association is also described. A small recurrence risk is noted in cases with sporadic origin. Early diagnosis and pregnancy termination are advisable for the condition since the survival rate is very low

Institutional Structure of Cotton Research in India

The chapter traces the landmark events in the contemporary history of cotton in India. The achievements in research and development that transformed India from a chronic importer of cotton to the largest producer and a net exporter of cotton are highlighted. The structure of cotton research undertaken by the institutes under the National Agricultural Research and Education System (NARES) are also elaborated. The institutional mechanism responsible for varietal release, seed production and transfer of technology are briefly described. The immediate challenges facing the cotton sector and approaches to tackle them are also discussed

Ekpyrosis and inflationary dynamics in heavy ion collisions: the role of quantum fluctuations

We summarize recent significant progress in the development of a first-principles formalism to describe the formation and evolution of matter in very high energy heavy ion collisions. The key role of quantum fluctuations both before and after a collision is emphasized. Decision to delivery interval in emergency LSCS and its impact on fetal outcome

Background: Emergency LSCS can be categorized based on RCOG guidelines into category I and II which indicates maternal or fetal compromise. Here an urgent delivery and the DDI (decision to delivery interval) within 30 and 45 minutes respectively is needed.Methods: This is a retrospective cross-sectional analysis conducted on a sample of 630 patients who underwent caesarean section over a year, from June 2016 to June 2017. The DDI were further classified into ≤30 and >30 minutes for category I, ≤45 and >45 minutes for category II LSCS. The primary objective is to determine whether DDI in Category I and II emergency LSCS has an impact on fetal outcome and secondary objective is to ensure that DDI is within the standard criterion as per RCOG protocol.Results: Out of 630 samples of caesareans, it was found that 173 falls in Category I and 189 falls in Category II. Out of 87 (50.29%) patients delivered within 30 minutes in Category I, 29 babies required NICU admission. DDI was more than 30 minutes in 86 (49.71%) cases in Category I out of which 38 babies got admitted in NICU with low APGAR scores. Out of 176 (93.12%) patients who delivered within 45 minutes in Category II, 56 babies required NICU admission. DDI was more than 45 minutes in 13 (6.88%) cases in Category II and all these babies got admitted in NICU.Conclusions: Decision -delivery interval has a significant impact on fetal outcome

Heterosis and heterobeltiosis in bell pepper (Capsicum annuum var. grossum) for growth and yield parameters

The magnitude of heterosis over commercial check and better parent was estimated to identify best crosses for growth and yield traits in bell pepper. Experimental material included 21 F1 hybrids developed by crossing seven diverse parents in half diallel mating design. The findings revealed that Arka Mohini X CW308 showed best heterotic cross combinations, recorded significantly higher heterosis and high per se value over commercial check with respect to number of primary branches, number of secondary branches, plant height, days to 50% flowering, days to first harvest, fruit length, fruit width, number of lobes per fruit, number of fruits per plant and average fruit weight. The cross Arka Mohini X CW308 also showed high heterobeltiosis for traits like fruit length, number of fruits per plant, average fruit weight and average yield per plant. Hence, this hybrid with high per se value and heterosis can be utilized to obtain desirable segregates for development of superior genotype for improvement of horticultural traits in bell pepper
