Craniopharyngioma - Transnasal Endoscopic Approach
Craniopharyngiomas are slow growing tumours arising from remnants of the craniopharyngeal duct and occupy the sellar region. The patients may remain asymptomatic for long duration or present with headache or visual disturbances. Surgery is the mainstay of the treatment. Traditionally these tumours have been removed by neurosurgeons through the cranial approach but the advent of nasal endoscopes has opened new avenues for ENT surgeons to treat such patients. A Rare Nasopharyngeal Foreign Body
Nasopharynx is an exceptionally rare anatomical location for foreign body impaction. We present a rare case of nasopharyngeal foreign body (NFB) in a 7 years old child. The diagnosis was confirmed by nasal endoscopy. Immediate removal of foreign body (FB) in the nasopharynx was performed under general anesthesia. This rare situation is potentially dangerous, since its dislodgment may cause fatal airway obstruction. Therefore, in all cases with missing foreign bodies in the aerodigestive system, nasopharyngeal impaction should be kept in mind and endoscopic examination of the region should be considere
Primary Non-Hodgkin's Malignant Lymphoma of the Sinonasal Tract
Primary non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas (NHL) of the sinonasal tract are rather uncommon entities. Morphologically and radiographically, sinonasal lymphomas are difficult to distinguish from other malignant neoplasms or non- neoplastic processes. They have a variable presentation from fulminant destructive manifestations to chronic indolent type of disease and may mimic as carcinomas and invasive fungal infection respectively. We report a case of primary NHL involving sinonasal tract in elderly female, which was clinically and radiologically mimicking as sinonasal malignany and was proven as NHL on histological examination and confirmed by immunohistochemistry. A high index of suspicion, appropriate histopathological examination and immunohistochemistry is necessary to differentiate sinonasal lymphomas from other possibilities. Osseous metastasis in patients of thyroid carcinoma is not very common, and appendicular skeleton is very rare. Bone metastasis represents a complication, especially of follicular thyroid carcinoma and severely reduces the quality of life causing pain, and fractures. Diagnosis is typically done by correlating clinical suspicion with imaging. Occult clinical presentations usually delay the detection and management of patients with bone metastasis from thyroid carcinoma. Infoveillance of Mucormycosis in India: A Google™ Trends Based Study
India reported highest incidence of Mucormycosis in the past and during the second wave of COVID-19. Google Trends is a potential tool for infoveillance of infectious disease like Mucormycosis. Relative Search Volume (RSV) for term Mucormycosis (+ Black fungus), diabetes, steroid, oxygen, D-dimer (+ferritin) had been extracted from Google Trends for three months (March to May 2021) and state-wise prevalence for Mucormycosis released by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare was used for the analysis. India reported highest RSV for Mucormycosis among the top five countries with COVID-19 cases. RSV peak for oxygen preceded the Mucormycosis spike. Correlation between state-wise prevalence of Mucormycosis and their corresponding RSV was not significant. While a positive correlation was observed between Mucormycosis, diabetes and steroid, it was not statistically significant. Infoveillance using Google trends can serve as a proxy marker for the public health needs and priorities much before actual field surveys
Learning Transfers over Several Programming Languages
Large language models (LLMs) have recently become remarkably good at
improving developer productivity for high-resource programming languages. These
models use two kinds of data: large amounts of unlabeled code samples for
pretraining and relatively smaller amounts of labeled code samples for
fine-tuning or in-context learning. Unfortunately, many programming languages
are low-resource, lacking labeled samples for most tasks and often even lacking
unlabeled samples. Therefore, users of low-resource languages (e.g., legacy or
new languages) miss out on the benefits of LLMs. Cross-lingual transfer
learning uses data from a source language to improve model performance on a
target language. It has been well-studied for natural languages, but has
received little attention for programming languages. This paper reports
extensive experiments on four tasks using a transformer-based LLM and 11 to 41
programming languages to explore the following questions. First, how well
cross-lingual transfer works for a given task across different language pairs.
Second, given a task and target language, how to best choose a source language.
Third, the characteristics of a language pair that are predictive of transfer
performance, and fourth, how that depends on the given task.Comment: 16 pages, 5 figures, 5 table

NCD Burden and the role of nutritionChronic diseases, often known as non-communicable diseases (NCDs), pose a significant threat to worldwide public health. As per World Health Organisation (WHO), NCDs account for 74% of all fatalities worldwide, with cardiovascular disease, cancer, respiratory disease, and diabetes being the leading causes.[1] Inadequate nutrition, including diets heavy in sugar, salt, saturated and trans fats, and deficient in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean protein sources, is a significant risk factor for NCDs. The World Health Organization suggests a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, and seeds and low in processed foods, sugar, saturated and trans fats.[2
