Generalized Differentiation and Characterizations for Differentiability of Infimal Convolutions
This paper is devoted to the study of generalized differentiation properties
of the infimal convolution. This class of functions covers a large spectrum of
nonsmooth functions well known in the literature. The subdifferential formulas
obtained unify several known results and allow us to characterize the
differentiability of the infimal convolution which plays an important role in
variational analysis and optimization
Quasi-Relative Interiors for Graphs of Convex Set-Valued Mappings
This paper aims at providing further studies of the notion of quasi-relative
interior for convex sets introduced by Borwein and Lewis. We obtain new
formulas for representing quasi-relative interiors of convex graphs of
set-valued mappings and for convex epigraphs of extended-real-valued functions
defined on locally convex topological vector spaces. We also show that the
role, which this notion plays in infinite dimensions and the results obtained
in this vein, are similar to those involving relative interior in
finite-dimensional spaces.Comment: This submission replaces our previous version
The role of orographic effects on occurrence of the heavy rainfall event over Central Vietnam in November 1999
In this study, the WRF model is used to investigate the role of Central Vietnam terrain on occurrence of the heavy rainfall event in November 1999 over Central Vietnam. Two model experiments with and without terrain were performed to examine the orographic blocking effects during the event. In the terrain experiment, the results from a three-day simulation show that the model reasonably well captures northeast monsoon circulation, tropical cyclones and the occurrence of heavy rainfall in Central Vietnam. The topography causes a high pressure anomaly intensifying northeast monsoon. When the terrain is removed, the three-day accumulated rainfall decreases approximately 75% in comparison with that in the terrain experiment. The terrain blocking and lifting effects in strong wind and moisture laden conditions combined with convergence circulation over open ocean are the main factors for occurrence of the heavy rainfall event

Automatic limit and shakedown analysis of 3-D steel frames
This paper presents an efficient algorithm for both limit and shakedown analysis of 3-D steel frames by kinematical method using linear programming technique. Several features in the application of linear programming for rigid-plastic analysis of three-dimensional steel frames are discussed, as: change of the variables, automatic choice of the initial basic matrix for the simplex algorithm, direct calculation of the dual variables by primal-dual technique. Some numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the robustness, efficiency of the proposed technique and computer program
Food selection of maize weevil Sitophilus Zeamais (motschulsky)
The instintive behaviour exhibited by insects in the selecting food is always a matter of interests to entomologists, and it is one of the fundamental principles underlining the application of entomology to agriculture, horticulture and forestry. Food seclection is an important characteristic of insects that help them survive in periods with insufficient foods.Three grain types of food, maize grain, long-grain rice and soybean grain, were used in this sudy for detecting food selection behaviours of maize weevil, Sitophilus zeamais. Grains were kept in box traps put in the different stores in Son La during 90 days. The result showed that maize weevil, Sitophilus zeamais, prefered traps with maize grains (71.4%) considerably more than ones with long-grain rice (14.3%) and soybean grain (14.3%). Meanwhile, the cornsap beetle, Carpophilus dimidiatus, was mostly observed in maize grain (98.5%) and to a lesser degree, in soybean grain (1.5%); and the dried-fruit beetle, Carpophilus hemipterus, was abundantly observed in maize grain (93.1%) and less in soybean grain (6.9%). The red flour, Tribolium castaneum, also tended to select all the three food grain, i.e. maize grain: 53.5%, long-rice grain: 35.2%, and soybean grain: 11.3%.Comparing f beetle individuals captured on three types of food grains showed that the maize weevil, Sitophilus zeamais, is the most abundant species. The percentage this store beetle among all beetles observed in maize, soybean grains and long-rice grains were 57.0%, 84.9% and 27.6%, respectively. Interestingly, Ahasverus advena, foreign grain beetle, occurred abundantly on long-rice gain (61.7%), i.e. this grain is a suitable food for the development of this beetle.
Protograph LDPC Code Design For LS-MIMO 1-bit ADC Systems
Recently, two emerging research topics are protograph low-density parity-check (P-LDPC) and large-scale multi-input multi-output (LS-MIMO) with low-resolution analog-to-digital (ADC) converters (LS-MIMO-LOW-ADC). In these directions, many research works have proposed 1-bit ADC as a good candidate for LS-MIMO systems in order to save both transmission power and circuit energy dissipation. However, we observed that previously reported P-LDPC codes might not have good performance for LS-MIMO systems with 1-bit ADC. Hence, we perform a re-design of the P-LDPC codes for the above systems in this paper. The new codes demonstrate a good coding gain from 0:3 dB at rate 1/2 to 0:5 dB at rate 2/3 in different LS-MIMO configurations with 1-bit ADC
