Loss of Prox1
Correct regulation of troponin and myosin contractile protein gene isoforms is a critical determinant of cardiac and skeletal striated muscle development and function, with misexpression frequently associated with impaired contractility or disease. Here we reveal a novel requirement for Prospero-related homeobox factor 1 (Prox1) during mouse heart development in the direct transcriptional repression of the fast-twitch skeletal muscle genes troponin T3, troponin I2, and myosin light chain 1. A proportion of cardiac-specific Prox1 knockout mice survive beyond birth with hearts characterized by marked overexpression of fast-twitch genes and postnatal development of a fatal dilated cardiomyopathy. Through conditional knockout of Prox1 from skeletal muscle, we demonstrate a conserved requirement for Prox1 in the repression of troponin T3, troponin I2, and myosin light chain 1 between cardiac and slow-twitch skeletal muscle and establish Prox1 ablation as sufficient to cause a switch from a slow- to fast-twitch muscle phenotype. Our study identifies conserved roles for Prox1 between cardiac and skeletal muscle, specifically implicated in slow-twitch fiber-type specification, function, and cardiomyopathic disease
President Charles de Gaulle and his policy towards Soviet Union
The aim of this work is to clarify and describe how France diplomatically and politically acted on the international stage before the outbreak, during and after the World War II, but also to propose a closer look at the situation on the European continent during the Cold War, summarize the origins of European integration and European Defence Policy from french point of view as a great power with undermined position, but with the confident and uncompromising general Charles de Gaulle at the head. And to find out how much the general's personality influenced the international relations durring the Cold War era. Focusing on relations with the Soviet Union emerged from the particularities of these relations. In this work, I shall devote their development, the military alliance, through the coolness of relations after the war, then their mutual rapprochement after a visit of general de Gaulle in Moscow in 1966 and the beginning of long-term business relations between France and the socialist part of Europe in the context of the international situation
Political and security relations between France and Ivory Coast
The aim of this thesis is to explain and analyze the komplexity of complicated relations between France as a former colonial power and Ivory Coast, its former colony, who also represents a strategic french political and economical partner. Theoretical part consists of the analysis of different approaches in theories of international relations. Based on the analysis, it tries to explain the character of these relations. Followed by the consecutive theoretical analysis of the french african policy practice of the french presidents and searches for the features that these policies have in common. Practical part applies the findings from the theoretical part on the concrete problem in the case of the French policy towards Ivory Coast and tests the theoretical conclusions in the historical evolution of the french and ivorian relations in the specific unstable situation that occurs in the Sub-Saharan region
