    The free boundary dust-plasma crystal

    No full text
We show for the first time that a dust-plasma crystal can be formed in the absence of a confining potential. Numerical simulations are carried out in two- and three dimensions to illustrate that a spherical dust-crystal with free boundaries can exist. We show that this is possible due to attraction between the dust particles caused by the asymmetrical bombardment of the plasma flux on the surface of the dust particles
