Mahesh Dattani was among the few Indians who attempted to write plays in English during the post-independence period. His dramatic creations encouraged a new creative motivation for theatre aspirants who later exploited the nuances of the several Indian varieties of English on the stage. Dattaniā€™s theatre group Playpen was formed in 1984 and he has directed several plays ranging from classical Greek to contemporary works. He wrote plays on new themes about body-that is not love but disease, a diseased body and mind. Crime, communal disharmony, misbehavior towards serious disease personalities and violence too find place in his plays. But he is not always looking at the dark aspect of life. His themes have variety and what's more important is that they are innovative. He is very serious in dealing with diseases like AIDS, cancer and disability openly. In the plays Ek Alag Mausam, Tara, and Brief Candle Dattani says that the same body which is the object of sexual desire is also subject to decay through disease and disability, Dattani seems to have considered. That is why he has written plays on diseases like AIDS, cancer and has shown the debilitation of human body by physical disability. In Ek Alag Mausam he deals with a biological disease, AIDS, and presents harmonious and emotional treatment in the service of humanity

Mahesh Dattani is an uncompromising director and playwright. He has used varied lifelike theatrical forms to engage the spectator in identifying the emotions carried by the voiceless, marginalized as well as minority people in India. He stimulates people to understand the real situation, prevailing in society. He makes the most effective use of stage to reveal the angst of voiceless society of India that will push the Indian society into the next level of definition for social civilization. He has created a new world for common people to think by giving vent to the frustration and anger of the long suppressed and unrecognized marginalized sections of society. When his plays are read, a new kind of experience is got altogether. Within the framework of dramatic structure, Dattani tries to look into the identities of those who get no space and recognition in social order and have been dragged in darkness. Some of the problems which the plays of Dattani deal with have rarely been discussed and recognized in India. In his plays he depicts mainly the middle-class Indian life and focuses on modern subjects like homosexuality, gender identity, contemporary social issues like violence and crime, human relationships and communalism. In Seven Steps around the Fire, Dattani presents the plight of the Hijras (eunuch) to whom society discards. It is found that they are socially and politically exploited in the Indian society as well as in the whole world. They are supposed to be the abandoned gender of the society consequently they face social, political, economic and emotion exploitation and discrimination in every step of their lives

The variation in antioxidant activity and antioxidant constituents of different plant growth stages i.e. in every 15 dayā€™s interval till maturity of plant of Ocimum basilicum Linn. grown in an open field and inside polyhouse conditions was studied. The correlation between antioxidant constituents and antioxidant activities was also studied. The result revealed that the 90 days old plant grown in an open field condition exhibited maximum antioxidant activity with the lowest IC50/EC50 value by ABTS (0.064 mg/ml), DPPH (0.090 mg/ml), and FRAP (0.099 mg/ml) followed by 75 days and 60 days old plants, similar pattern was also observed in their antioxidant constituents. Similarly, the 90 days old plant grown inside polyhouse condition showed maximum antioxidant activity with antioxidant constituents followed by other plant growth stages in descending order. The chlorophyll content was found maximum in 15 days old plant(0.926 mg/100g) grown in an open field condition, whereas the maximum chlorophyll content (1.470 mg/100g) exhibited by 90 days old plant grown inside polyhouse condition. The correlation analysis revealed that the antioxidant constituents exhibited a significant negative correlation with the IC50/EC50 value and the IC50 value of ABTS assay had a significantly positive correlation with the IC50 and EC50 value of DPPH and FRAP assay, respectively. Hence, the study revealed that the leaves extract of plant grown in open field conditions possesses a significantly higher antioxidant activity and antioxidant constituents than the plant grown inside polyhouse condition

In this study, a low-profile, co-planar waveguide (CPW) fed, wideband, and dual-ring slot antenna design for biomedical applications is proposed. The proposed antenna has a total area of 10 mm Ɨ 10 mm and a height of 0.4 mm, and is designed by using a thin and biocompatible FR4 epoxy (Īµr = 4.4) substrate to accomplish human body isolation and great flexibility obtained by implantation. This wideband antenna covers a large bandwidth of industrial scientific and medical (ISM) frequency band, including 902.8 MHz to 928 MHz, 1.395 GHz to 1.4 GHz, 1.427 GHz to 1.432 GHz, 2.4 GHz to 2.485 GHz, and above. The simulation results of return loss, voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR), impedance matching, gain, and radiation pattern of the proposed antenna are obtained through High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS) 14 software

OVERLAPPED CLUSTERING APPROACH FOR MAXIMIZING THE SERVICE RELIABILITY OF HETEROGENEOUS DISTRIBUTED COMPUTING SYSTEMS

ABSTRACT For distributed computing system (DCS) where server nodes can fail permanently with nonzero probability, the reliability of the system can be defined as the probability that the system run the entire tasks successfully assign on it before all the nodes fail. In heterogeneous distributed system where various nodes of the system have different characteristics, reliability of the system is highly dependent on the tasks allocation strategies. So, this paper presents a rigorous framework for efficient tasks allocation in heterogeneous distributed environment, with the goal of maximizing the system reliability. Reliability of the system is characterized in the presence of communication uncertainties and topological changes due to node's failure. Node failure has adverse effects on the system reliability. Thus, one possible way to improve reliability is to make the communication among the tasks as local as possible. For this, an overlapped clustering approach has been used. Further, we calculate the reliability of each node of the DCS to determine the actual capabilities of each node. Here, our purpose is to assign the more costly task to more reliable node of the DCS. Then we utilize the load balancing policies for handling the node's failure effect as well as maximizing the service reliability of the DCS. A numeric example is presented to illustrate the importance of incorporating overlapping cluster and load balancing on the reliability study

Reaction of 7-hydroxy-4-methyl coumarin with amido/imido alcohols in ethanol containing concentrated hydrochloric acid afforded 8-aralkyl amido/imido-alkyl-7-hydroxy-4-methyl-coumarins (1a-f). Interaction of 1a-f with hydrazine hydrate in pyridine resulted in 1-amino-8-aralkyl amido/imido-alkyl-7-hydroxy-4-methyl-2-oxo-quinolines (2a-f). Treatment of 2 with formaldehyde in ethanol resulted in 1,3,5-tris-(8-aralkyl amido/imido-alkyl-7-hydroxy-4-methyl-2-oxo-quinolinyl)-2,4,6-hexahydro-s-triazines (3a-c). Antiviral activity of compounds 2a-d and 3a, 3b upon Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) and Herpes simplex virus-1 (HSV-1) was evaluated on vero cells in vitro. 3a-c were also screened for their antihypertensive activity.Reakcijom 7-hidroksi-4-metilkumarina s amido/imido alkoholima u etanolu s koncentriranom kiselinom pripravljeni su 8-aralkil amido/imido-alkil-7-hidroksi-4-metilkumarini (1a-f).
