Chaotic behavior of seismic mechanisms: experiment and observation

Abstract To simulate of earthquake's dynamics, we have projected and build a mechanical prototype inspired by Burridge-Knopoff model, equipped with accurately instrumental devices. The data obtained by the prototype seem to be coherent with the seismic data from San Andreas Fault, California, when analysed through two different methodologies: seismology and modern developments of chaos's theory. Perspectives for future work are also presented
