    Entanglement Purification of Any Stabilizer State

    We present a method for multipartite entanglement purification of any stabilizer state shared by several parties. In our protocol each party measures the stabilizer operators of a quantum error-correcting code on his or her qubits. The parties exchange their measurement results, detect or correct errors, and decode the desired purified state. We give sufficient conditions on the stabilizer codes that may be used in this procedure and find that Steane's seven-qubit code is the smallest error-correcting code sufficient to purify any stabilizer state. An error-detecting code that encodes two qubits in six can also be used to purify any stabilizer state.     Resumo: No Nordeste brasileiro, proliferam propostas de transferência de tecnologias pautadas no desenvolvimento rural sustentável, justificadas no agravamento da questão ambiental e nas ameaças de desertificação de espaços rurais, associando tais fenômenos às práticas adotadas pelos sistemas tradicionais da agricultura familiar, a chamada agricultura itinerante, caracterizada pelo cultivo de uma área por um ou dois anos, seguido por vários anos de pousio. A reconversão de sistemas tradicionais da caatinga por meio da implantação de sistemas agrossilvipastoris, referenciados na agroecologia, tem sido uma opção apregoada por organismos de fomento ao desenvolvimento rural. Inserido nesta temática, o presente estudo narra algumas dificuldades de implantação de um projeto de validação de sistemas agrossilvipastoris em assentamentos do Ceará. The use of innovations in the transition of traditional productions systems in the Brazillian Northeast 'semi-arido': some dilemmas. Abstract: In the Brazillian Northeast, proposals for technological transfers guided by the principles of sustainable rural development abound. The justification offered for such proposals is the aggravation of environmental problems, and the threat of increased desertification in rural spaces, associated with the practices adopted by traditional systems of family agriculture, the so called itinerant agriculture, characterized by the growth of a crop in one area for two years followed by several years of rest. The return to tradicional systems of the 'caatinga' through the introduction of agroforestry systems, having as reference the agroecology, has been pointed out as an option by rural development foment organizations.     Imperfect Detectors in Linear Optical Quantum Computers

    We discuss the effects of imperfect photon detectors suffering from loss and noise on the reliability of linear optical quantum computers. We show that for a given detector efficiency, there is a maximum achievable success probability, and that increasing the number of ancillary photons and detectors used for one controlled sign flip gate beyond a critical point will decrease the probability that the computer will function correctly. We have also performed simulations of some small logic gates and estimate the efficiency and noise levels required for the linear optical quantum computer to function properly.Comment: 13 pages, 5 figure
