    Bound state spectra of three-body muonic molecular ions

    The results of highly accurate calculations are presented for all twenty-two known bound S(L=0)−,P(L=1)−,D(L=2)−S(L = 0)-, P(L = 1)-, D(L = 2)- and F(L=3)−F(L = 3)-states in the six three-body muonic molecular ions ppμ,pdμ,ptμ,ddμ,dtμpp\mu, pd\mu, pt\mu, dd\mu, dt\mu and ttμtt\mu. A number of bound state properties of these muonic molecular ions have been determined numerically to high accuracy. The dependence of the total energies of these muonic molecules upon particle masses is considered. We also discuss the current status of muon-catalysis of nuclear fusion reactions.Comment: This is the final version. All `techical' troubles with the Latex-file have been resolved.     Superconformal operators in N=4 super-Yang-Mills theory

    We construct, in the framework of the N=4 SYM theory, a supermultiplet of twist-two conformal operators and study their renormalization properties. The components of the supermultiplet have the same anomalous dimension and enter as building blocks into multi-particle quasipartonic operators. The latter are determined by the condition that their twist equals the number of elementary constituent fields from which they are built. A unique feature of the N=4 SYM is that all quasipartonic operators with different SU(4) quantum numbers fall into a single supermultiplet. Among them there is a subsector of the operators of maximal helicity, which has been known to be integrable in the multi-color limit in QCD, independent of the presence of supersymmetry. In the N=4 SYM theory, this symmetry is extended to the whole supermultiplet of quasipartonic operators and the one-loop dilatation operator coincides with a Hamiltonian of integrable SL(2|4) Heisenberg spin chain.Comment: 45 pages, Latex, 4 figure

    Dynamics of heart rhythm disorders in combatants with acute myocarditis during a 6-month follow-up

    The main factors of an unfavorable prognosis, are life-threatening heart rhythm disorders which determine the severity of the clinical course of myocarditis, in addition to impaired contractility and dilatation of the left ventricle (LV). The aim of the study was to assess the frequency and nature of arrhythmias and establish predictors of their long-term persistence, assess the severity of anxiety and depression, changes in heart rate variability in combatants on the background of changes in the structural and functional state of the left ventricle during a 6-month follow-up. The study included 52 male servicemen (combatants) with acute myocarditis (AM) with an average age of 33.4±2.5 years. All patients were assessed by Questionnaire according to the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) and underwent 24 hour ECG monitoring, transthoracic echocardiography and cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) with late enhancement using gadovist. At the onset of AM frequent supraventricular (30.7% of cases) and frequent ventricular (42.3% of cases) extrasystolic arrhythmia, as well as paroxysms of non-sustained ventricular tachycardia (26.9% of cases) on the background of heart rhythm variability disorders were recorded. After 6 months, there was an improvement in the structural and functional state of the heart, which was characterized by a decrease in dilatation and an improvement of LV systolic function, a decrease in the volume of the inflammatory lesion and the total number of affected LV segments revealed on cardiac MRI, which was associated with a decrease in the number of ventricular rhythm disorders and reduction of clinical manifestations of anxiety according to the HADS scale. The obtained data indicate that the persistence of supraventricular rhythm disorders is associated with the long-term presence of anxiety and low values of standard deviation of RR intervals (SDNN) and root mean square of successive differences between normal heartbeats (RMSSD). Also predictors of persistence of non-sustained ventricular tachycardia paroxysms were established – SDNN value ≤80.0 ms, LV end-diastolic volume index ≥95 ml/m2, total number of affected LV segments ≥6 segments, presence of delayed contrasting in ≥3 LV segments, pre­sence of ≥12 points on the HADS scale and predictors of atrial fibrillation – SDNN value ≤80.0 ms, RMSSD value ≤12.0 ms, total number of affected segments of LV≥6 seg. and ≥12 points on the HADS anxiety scale, determined at the onset of AM

    Development of a Momentum Determined Electron Beam in the 1 -45 GeV Range

    A beam line for electrons with energies in the range of 1 to 45 GeV, low contamination of hadrons and muons and high intensity up to 10^6 per accelerator spill at 27 GeV was setup at U70 accelerator in Protvino, Russia. A beam tagging system based on drift chambers with 160 micron resolution was able to measure relative electron beam momentum precisely. The resolution sigma_p p was 0.13% at 45 GeV where multiple scattering is negligible.     We studied experimentally and theoretically the interaction of lasing modes in random media. In a homogeneously broadened gain medium, cross gain saturation leads to spatial repulsion of lasing modes. In an inhomogeneously broadened gain medium, mode repulsion occurs in the spectral domain. Some lasing modes are coupled through photon hopping or electron absorption and reemission. Under pulsed pumping, weak coupling of two modes leads to synchronization of their lasing action. Strong coupling of two lasing modes results in anti-phased oscillations of their intensities.Comment: 13 pages, 4 figure

    Linking Backlund and Monodromy Charges for Strings on AdS_5 x S^5

    We find an explicit relation between the two known ways of generating an infinite set of local conserved charges for the string sigma model on AdS_5 x S^5: the Backlund and monodromy approaches. We start by constructing the two-parameter family of Backlund transformations for the string with an arbitrary world-sheet metric. We then show that only for a special value of one of the parameters the solutions generated by this transformation are compatible with the Virasoro constraints. By solving the Backlund equations in a non-perturbative fashion, we finally show that the generating functional of the Backlund conservation laws is equal to a certain sum of the quasi-momenta. The positions of the quasi-momenta in the complex spectral plane are uniquely determined by the real parameter of the Backlund transform.Comment: 25 pages, 1 figur

    Classical/quantum integrability in AdS/CFT

    We discuss the AdS/CFT duality from the perspective of integrable systems and establish a direct relationship between the dimension of single trace local operators composed of two types of scalar fields in N=4 super Yang-Mills and the energy of their dual semiclassical string states in AdS(5) X S(5). The anomalous dimensions can be computed using a set of Bethe equations, which for ``long'' operators reduces to a Riemann-Hilbert problem. We develop a unified approach to the long wavelength Bethe equations, the classical ferromagnet and the classical string solutions in the SU(2) sector and present a general solution, governed by complex curves endowed with meromorphic differentials with integer periods. Using this solution we compute the anomalous dimensions of these long operators up to two loops and demonstrate that they agree with string-theory predictions.Comment: 49 pages, 5 figures, LaTeX; v2: complete proof of the two-loop equivalence between the sigma model and the gauge theory is added.     Vacuum instability in external fields

    We study particles creation in arbitrary space-time dimensions by external electric fields, in particular, by fields, which are acting for a finite time. The time and dimensional analysis of the vacuum instability is presented. It is shown that the distributions of particles created by quasiconstant electric fields can be written in a form which has a thermal character and seems to be universal. Its application, for example, to the particles creation in external constant gravitational field reproduces the Hawking temperature exactly.Comment: 36 pages, LaTe

    Electromagnetic Casimir densities for a wedge with a coaxial cylindrical shell

    Vacuum expectation values of the field square and the energy-momentum tensor for the electromagnetic field are investigated for the geometry of a wedge with a coaxal cylindrical boundary. All boundaries are assumed to be perfectly conducting and both regions inside and outside the shell are considered. By using the generalized Abel-Plana formula, the vacuum expectation values are presented in the form of the sum of two terms. The first one corresponds to the geometry of the wedge without the cylindrical shell and the second term is induced by the presence of the shell. The vacuum energy density induced by the shell is negative for the interior region and is positive for the exterior region. The asymptotic behavior of the vacuum expectation values are investigated in various limiting cases. It is shown that the vacuum forces acting on the wedge sides due to the presence of the cylindrical boundary are always attractive.Comment: 21 pages, 7 figure
