    An exclusive phonological method of teaching a foreign language with a professionally oriented approach

    The relevance of the topic of the article is due to the reassessment of the goals and objectives of professionally oriented language education at the undergraduate level in the light of UNESCO initiatives. The hypothesis: use of the proposed methodology in the course of teaching English with the indicated approach at a technical university can significantly improve pronunciation. The purpose  is to determine the effectiveness of the phonological methodology in teaching a foreign language based on a professionally oriented approach. Methodology: pilot experiment, comparison, observation, description, Wilcoxon's T-test, induction. The experiment in 2019-2020 involved 60 students of the Moscow Aviation Institute (National Research University). Most relevant results: repeated control testing revealed an increase in the level of foreign language proficiency. The Wilcoxon t-test confirmed the significance of differences in the results: Temp=0< Tcr (n=4; p≤0.01)=1. Practical testing of this study showed that the vocalism technique provides effective opportunities for implementing an individual learning path. Thus, future research suggested by the results will continue to improve the phonology of pronunciation. The novelty of the study lies in the fact that this experiment was conducted for the first time at an aerospace non-linguistic university

    Национальная идентичность СМИ: ретроспективное исследование распространённости русскоязычных СМИ в Восточной Европе

    The research focuses on the issues, concerning the national identity of mass media in the era of globalization. It was the attempt to examine the linguistic situation in the multi-ethnic society, which consists of clearly defined groups of national minorities. Revealing the problems and consequences of language groups’ shift through mass media became the main objective of the research. The retrospective data on the Russian language mass media prevalence in the Eastern European countries (for example, of Estonia) were used as an analytical background. In Estonia, almost half of the Russian-speaking population cannot follow mass media due to limited knowledge of the language. These particularities for 1998-2013 were described in this article. The obtained results led to the conclusion that the major part of the Russian-speaking population of Estonia mainly follows the Russian television channels and, therefore, is more integrated in the Russian information realm than in Estonian. The multidirectional dynamics of mass media activity on prevalence was revealed. The contradictions between the Russian and Estonian mass media, Estonia and the EU on multilingual social mass media role were highlighted in the article.El estudio se centra en la identidad nacional de los medios de comunicación de masas en la era de la globalización. Se ha tratado de examinar la situación lingüística en la sociedad pluricultural en que existen grupos de minorías nacionales bien definidos. El observatorio principal del estudio fue la identificación de los problemas y las consecuencias del desplazamiento de los grupos lingüísticos a través de los medios de comunicación de masas. Como la base analítica, se utilizaron los datos retrospectivos sobre la prevalencia de los medios de comunicación de masas rusos en Estonia, donde alrededor de la mitad de la población que habla el idioma ruso no puede seguir los medios de comunicación de masas en Estonia debido a la falta de conocimiento del idioma. Trataremos de hacer un seguimiento de estas características durante el período 1998-2013. Los resultados han llevado a la conclusión de que gran parte de la población que habla el idioma ruso de Estonia está principalmente siguiendo los canales de televisión rusos y, por lo tanto, está más integrada en el campo de información de Rusia que de Estonia. Se ha identificado la dinámica diversificada en la actividad de los medios de comunicación de masas por el tipo de distribución. El artículo destaca las contradicciones entre los medios de comunicación de masas estonios y rusos, entre Estonia y la UE sobre el papel de los medios de comunicación de masas públicos multilingües.Исследование посвящено вопросам национальной идентичности средств массовой информации в эпоху глобализации. Предпринята попытка рассмотреть языковую ситуацию в полиэтническом обществе, где имеются четко выраженные группы национальных меньшинств. Основной целью исследования стало выявление проблем и последствий смещения языковых групп населения через СМИ. В качестве аналитической базы использовалось ретроспективные данные о распространённости русскоязычных СМИ в Эстонии, где около половины русскоязычного населения не могут следить за средствами массовой информации на эстонском языке из-за недостаточного знания языка. Мы постараемся проследить эти особенности за период 1998-2013 годов. Полученные результаты привели к выводу, что большая часть русскоговорящего населения Эстонии в основном следит за российскими телеканалами и поэтому более интегрирована в информационное поле России, чем в эстонское. Выявлена разнонаправленная динамика в активности СМИ по типу распространения. В статье подчеркиваются противоречия между эстонскими и русскоязычными СМИ, между Эстонией и ЕС относительно роли мультиязычных общественных СМИ

    On Certain Approaches to Development of Foreign Language Professionally-Oriented Textbook for Engineering Bachelor Courses

    The article is devoted to the development of professionally-oriented textbooks to the engineering bachelor courses. Stages of development of the concept of professionally-oriented textbooks are considered from the standpoint of realization of communicative approach in teaching professional foreign language. Considerable attention is paid to defining the thematic professional content of textbook sections, to ensuring its conformity with modern educational standards. The need for problem consideration of professional themes is emphasized as a way of stimulating communicative activities. Types of discourse are specified within which intercultural professional communication between bachelors of engineering profile should be implemented. Special attention is paid to the development of exercise materials based on authentic texts, representing the functional and stylistic characteristics of key types of discourse and developing bachelors’ ability to use different discourse strategies. Novelty of research consists in the fact that it considers the possibility of modelling professional activity in the textbook by constructing professional subject for each thematic section, which would determine logically interconnected sequence of situations of oral and written professional interaction that involves interpretation and generation of typical texts representing the business, professional, and scientific discourse. It is noted that the communicative focus of the textbook is provided through the development of exercises based on authentic texts relevant to the list of identified typical communicative situations

    The paper is devoted to the history of the national professional standard “Sociologist: specialist in fundamental and applied studies”. Rethinking the sociologist qualification skills by the professional community is the focus of the paper. The author analyzes discussions of the quality criteria for the research process and its results from the period of 1970–1980s up until now. The study also considers the reasons why the quality issue has transformed from the methodological discourse into regulatory and legal.     On Question of Representation of Intra-company Written Communication in Foreign Language Professionally-Oriented Textbook for Undergraduate Students of Engineering Specialty

    The article is devoted to the usefulness of including the exercises based on texts of intra-company written communication in a professionally-oriented textbook for undergraduate students of engineering specialty. The issues associated with the methodological potential of exercises, designed on the basis of this texts, are discussed in terms of the most complete implementation of conditions to ensure the communicative orientation of the textbook and the principles of contextual learning. The possibility of using some of the functions of intra-company communication texts, such as organising and regulatory functions, as a way of structuring communicative activities in the manual is proved. The author argues that it provides a context-due alternation of oral and written communication and representation of the types of discourse key for the manual. It is demonstrated that this approach is more effective when creating the training model of professional activity in each section of the manual where the exercises, designed on the basis of intra-company emails and documents, carry out the deployment professional of the plot, adjust the consistency of the presentation of professional situations involving oral and written communication. Possibility of use of exercises, designed on the basis of reports to optimize preparation for the study of texts representing scientific discourse is considered, since reports have a number of similar functional and stylistic characteristics with scientific articles

    The Effect of Digital Economy and Artificial Intelligence on The Participants of The School Educational Process

    The article examines the nature of the effect of the digital economy and artificial intelligence on the participants of the school educational process. The study deploys a Likert scale questionnaire, focused interview, and IBM SPSS Statistics 22 as the main instruments. The authors determine the status of a teacher in the AI-teacher system and identify the nature of AI’s influence on the students and communication within the teacher-student-teacher system. Support is provided for the hypothesis suggesting that the effect of the digital economy and AI on the participants of the school educational process (teachers and students) is complex and controversial and causes the differences in the teachers’ positions depending on their age, working experience, and the subject of specialization. The primary advantage of the article is the identification of stable relationships in the teacher-student-teacher system developing with the help of AI. The study indicates the teacher’s advantage over AI in teaching technique and social influence, as well as the negative effect of AI on students’ health. For the first time, the authors examine the nature of role changes in the AI-teacher system in the context of a global pandemic. The danger of AI replacing teachers with the help of teachers themselves is identified. The acquired results may be used by theorists and practitioners for further development of the foundations of the system of education and human interaction with AI in the digital economy
