    Electroneuronomiographical testing of the nictating reflex at patients with senile entropion of a lower eyelid

    Purpose. Π’ΠΎ estimate parameters of the nictating reflex (NR) at patients with senile athonical enthropion a lower eyelid before and after surgical treatment Methods. 25 patients with senile athonical entropion of a lower eyelid OD of the third degree before and for 8-10 days after plastics of a lower eyelid by the deapithelious a skin-muscular rag are surveyed. It testifies to normalization of speed of carrying out of an impulse in system trigeminal-obverse nerves after surgical treatment senile athonical entropion a lower eyelid. Research of qualitative characteristics NR have shown, that after surgical treatment senile entropion of a lower eyelid OD decrease in quantity of cases hyperexitable (on 16%) types NR is observed, at ist simultaneous increase normally excitable types (on 36%). Conclusions.     Inclusive meson production in peripheral collisions of ultrarelativistic heavy ions

    There exist several proposals to use Weizs\"{a}cker-Williams photons generated by ultrarelativistic heavy ions to produce exotic particles in Ξ³Ξ³\gamma\gamma fusion reactions. To estimate the background conditions for such reactions we analyze various mechanisms of meson production in very peripheral collisions of ultrarelativistic heavy ions at RHIC and LHC energies. Besides Ξ³Ξ³\gamma\gamma fusion they include also electromagnetic Ξ³A\gamma A interactions and strong nucleon-nucleon interactions in grazing AAAA collisions. All these processes are characterised by low multiplicities of produced particles. Ξ³A\gamma A and AAAA events are simulated by corresponding Monte Carlo codes, RELDIS and FRITIOF. In each of these processes a certain fraction of pions is produced close to the mid-rapidity region that gives a background for the Ξ³Ξ³\gamma\gamma events. The possibility of selecting mesons produced in Ξ³Ξ³\gamma\gamma fusion events via different ptp_t cut procedures is demonstrated.Comment: 27 pages with 4 eps-figures included, uses axodraw.sty Tab.2 and 3 correcte

    Evaluation of the effectiveness of age macular degeneration treatment

    We examined 176 patients with an established diagnosis of age-related macular degeneration 'dry* form in the early and intermediate stages. The average age - 71,2 + 2,6, the average duration of the disease from the time of diagnosis of the disease 1,9 Β± 1,3 years. All patients were divided into two groups: primary - 90 people and a comparison group of 86 people. The study group consisted of patients who underwent neyroprotektional vasodilator therapy: 5 mg Retinalamin subconjunctival injection number 10 and intramuscular injections of nicotinic acid 2,0 β„– 10. In the comparison group performed neuroprotective and vasodilator therapy in combination simpatocorrection number 10.     The Use of Nutraceuticals in Patients with β€œDry” Form of Age-Related Macular Degeneration on the Background of Accelerated Aging

    The lutein-containing vitamin-mineral complex Retinorm, developed on the basis of the formula AREDS 2, with an optimal content of vitamins and minerals involved in antioxidant protection, is a potentially promising ophthalmic geroprotector.Purpose: to evaluate the effectiveness of vitamin-mineral complex β€œRetinorm” in patients with the dry form of AMD and accelerated pace of aging.Patients and Methods. The study involved 40 patients with a dry form of AMD (stage 2.3 according to AREDS classification) with an accelerated rate of aging (biological age of patients was measured by the method of Tokar, 1990). Gender distribution: men β€” 15 (37.5 %), women β€” 25 (62.5 %). The mean age of patients was 67.3 Β± 6.8 years. Patients were divided into 2 groups. Patients of the study group (n = 20) were assigned β€œRetinorm” 1 capsule 3 times a day for 16 weeks. Patients of the control group (n = 20) were treated with β€œLutein Forte” 1 capsule 2 times a day for 16 weeks. Visometry, perimetry, optical coherence tomography of the macular zone, measurement of biological age at the beginning of the study, at 2 and 4 months of the study, the tolerability of treatment in patients with a dry form of age β€” related macular degeneration on the background of taking dietary supplements-vitamin and mineral complexes with lutein and zeaxanthin.Results and discussion. As a result of treatment, there were the positive dynamics in terms of visometry and perimetry in the main and control groups. There were no negative dynamics of the indicators of thickness of the retina (in the area of the fovea), and increased macular volume in the main group. In the control group there was a weak tendency to the growth of these indicators. We found a significant positive effect of Retinol on the biological age of patients to 4 months of therapy. It allows to consider the drug as a promising ophthalmoscopy an agent. The results of the study showed the effectiveness of the inclusion of β€œRetinorm” in patients with the dry form of AMD. The proven geroprotective effect of β€œRetinorm” with good tolerability of treatment and the absence of side effects from all organ systems with a long term of administration allows us to recommend it for wide use in patients with a dry form of age-related macular degeneration, including patients with an accelerated rate of aging
