    On Bohr-Sommerfeld bases

This paper combines algebraic and Lagrangian geometry to construct a special basis in every space of conformal blocks, the Bohr-Sommerfeld (BS) basis. We use the method of [D. Borthwick, T. Paul and A. Uribe, Legendrian distributions with applications to the non-vanishing of Poincar\'e series of large weight, Invent. math, 122 (1995), 359-402, preprint hep-th/9406036], whereby every vector of a BS basis is defined by some half-weighted Legendrian distribution coming from a Bohr-Sommerfeld fibre of a real polarization of the underlying symplectic manifold. The advantage of BS bases (compared to bases of theta functions in [A. Tyurin, Quantization and ``theta functions'', Jussieu preprint 216 (Apr 1999), e-print math.AG/9904046, 32pp.]) is that we can use information from the skillful analysis of the asymptotics of quantum states. This gives that Bohr-Sommerfeld bases are unitary quasi-classically. Thus we can apply these bases to compare the Hitchin connection with the KZ connection defined by the monodromy of the Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov equation in combinatorial theory (see, for example, [T. Kohno, Topological invariants for 3-manifolds using representations of mapping class group I, Topology 31 (1992), 203-230; II, Contemp. math 175} (1994), 193-217]).Comment: 43 pages, uses: latex2e with amsmath, amsfonts, theore

    Sum rules for spin asymmetries

Starting from rotational invariance we derive sum rules for the single-spin asymmetries in inclusive production and binary processes. We also get sum rules for spin correlation parameters in elastic pp-scattering.Comment: 4 page

Novel features of diffraction at the LHC

Interest and problems in the studies of diffraction at LHC are highlighted. Predictions for the global characteristics of proton-proton interactions at the LHC energy are given. Potential discoveries of the antishadow scattering mode and diffractive scattering conjugated with high--ETE_T jets are discussed.Comment: 10 pages, 7 figures, journal version, 1 figure added, extended introductio

Polymorphonuclear myeloid-derived suppressor cells limit antigen crosspresentation by dendritic cells in cancer

DCs are a critical component of immune responses in cancer primarily due to their ability to cross-present tumor-associated antigens. Cross-presentation by DCs in cancer is impaired, which may represent one of the obstacles for the success of cancer immunotherapies. Here, we report that polymorphonuclear myeloid-derived suppressor cells (PMN-MDSC) blocked crosspresentation by DCs without affecting direct presentation of antigens by these cells. This effect did not require direct cell-cell contact and was associated with transfer of lipids. Neutrophils (PMN) and PMN-MDSC transferred lipid to DCs equally well; however, PMN did not affect DC cross-presentation. PMN-MDSC generate oxidatively truncated lipids previously shown to be involved in impaired cross-presentation by DCs. Accumulation of oxidized lipids in PMN-MDSC was dependent on myeloperoxidase (MPO). MPO-deficient PMN-MDSC did not affect cross-presentation by DCs. Cross-presentation of tumor-associated antigens in vivo by DCs was improved in MDSC-depleted or tumor-bearing MPO-KO mice. Pharmacological inhibition of MPO in combination with checkpoint blockade reduced tumor progression in different tumor models. These data suggest MPO-driven lipid peroxidation in PMN-MDSC as a possible non–cell autonomous mechanism of inhibition of antigen cross-presentation by DCs and propose MPO as potential therapeutic target to enhance the efficacy of current immunotherapies for patients with cancer

On asymmetry in inclusive pion production

On the basis of the mechanism proposed for one-spin asymmetries in inclusive hadron production we specify an xx--dependence of asymmetries in inclusive processes of pion production. The main role in generation of this asymmetry belongs to the orbital angular momentum ofquark-antiquark cloud in internal structure of constituent quarks. The xx--dependence of asymmetries in the charged pion production at large xx reflects the corresponding dependence of constituent quark polarization in the polarized proton.Comment: LaTeX, 8 pages, 3 figures. Stable bundles on hypercomplex surfaces

A hypercomplex manifold is a manifold equipped with three complex structures I, J, K satisfying the quaternionic relations. Let M be a 4-dimensional compact smooth manifold equipped with a hypercomplex structure, and E be a vector bundle on M. We show that the moduli space of anti-self-dual connections on E is also hypercomplex, and admits a strong HKT metric. We also study manifolds with (4,4)-supersymmetry, that is, Riemannian manifolds equipped with a pair of strong HKT-structures that have opposite torsion. In the language of Hitchin's and Gualtieri's generalized complex geometry, (4,4)-manifolds are called ``generalized hyperkaehler manifolds''. We show that the moduli space of anti-self-dual connections on M is a (4,4)-manifold if M is equipped with a (4,4)-structure.Comment: 17 pages. Version 3.0: reference adde

The Importance of High-Resolution Computed Tomography in the Early Diagnosis of Fibrotic Hypersensitivity Pneumonitis

Objective: to determine the high-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) signs and their combinations, suggesting the presence of fibrotic hypersensitivity pneumonitis (FHP).   Material and methods. The study included 52 patients with pathologically verified diagnosis of FHP who were examined according to the 2021 consensus criteria. All patients had lung HRCT no more than 4 months prior to lung biopsy. The analysis of the changes revealed during HRCT was carried out by qualitative and semi-quantitative methods. The presence of individual signs, the degree of their severity (as percentage relative to the volume of the entire lung tissue) and the features of distribution in the axial and longitudinal planes were taken into account. To search for significant combinations of HRCT signs, a correlation analysis was carried out.   Results. The most common HRCT signs in the examined group of FHP patients were reticular changes (96 %) and ground glass opacity (88 %). Most of the patients had signs that did not correspond to the picture of “typical FHP”, such as ground glass and emphysema. Relatively rare cases were centrilobular lesions (46.2 %) and mosaic attenuation (52 %), which are traditionally part of the “typical FHP” picture. In 22 cases (42.3 %) there were signs of emphysema, the presence of which significantly complicated the interpretation of HRCT data even in the cases of characteristic signs of FHP. Correlations of almost all HRCT signs were weak. The most common combinations of features were ground glass + reticular changes, emphysema + honeycombing, reticular changes + bronchiectasis. The combination of ground glass and reticular changes had a moderate correlation, but it has low specificity.   Conclusion. The HRCT picture of changes in the lungs among patients with a morphologically verified diagnosis of FHP has important features. A weak correlation between the signs does not allow to identify their combinations that can help in the early diagnosis of FHP with sufficient reliability

Granulomаtosis With Polyangiitis Affecting the Lung and Orbit

    Get PDF
The paper describes a clinical case of pulmonary and right orbital injuries in granulomatosis with polyangiitis in a 38-year-old male. The case is of considerable interest due to the rarity of this pathology, especially because of the localization in the orbital region. The information provided in this paper can help in the early and accurate diagnosis of granulomatosis with polyangiitis, which, in turn, will improve the prognosis of the disease
