Percolation of the aligned dimers on a square lattice

Percolation and jamming phenomena are investigated for anisotropic sequential deposition of dimers (particles occupying two adjacent adsorption sites) on a square lattice. The influence of dimer alignment on the electrical conductivity was examined. The percolation threshold for deposition of dimers was lower than for deposition of monomers. Nevertheless, the problem belongs to the universality class of random percolation. The lowest percolation threshold (pc = 0.562) was observed for isotropic orientation of dimers. It was higher (pc = 0.586) in the case of dimers aligned strictly along one direction. The state of dimer orientation influenced the concentration dependence of electrical conductivity. The proposed model seems to be useful for description of the percolating properties of anisotropic conductors.Comment: 6 pages, 9 figures, submitted to EPJ

The impact of obesity on the structure of osteoarthrosis of large joints of the lower limb.

The prevalence of osteoarthrosis (OA) among adults over 40 years is taking one of the leading places in the common structure of joint pathology. Obesity – is of the comorbidities associated with OA, one of the risk factors of development and progression of OA. The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of obesity on the structure of knee and hip OA on the stage of total joint replacement, depending on the patient`s gender, age and degree of obesity. The study involved 170 inpatient case histories of patients with OA undergoing treatment in the department of  large joints replacement (64 men and 106 women): 95 patients with OA of hip joint and 75 – with OA of knee joint, among whom there were 110 patients with obesity and 60 – without it. The middle age of the patients was by 63,8±7,69 years. High prevalence of obesity among patients with OA of knee and hip joints was found, with significant higher number of obese patients with OA of knee joint and among female patients. It has been demonstrated a significant increase in the frequency of total knee joint replacement associated with the increase of body mass index among patients with OA of knee joint. The presence of obesity was associated with earlier terms of the total joint replacement performing, especially among male patients

Opportunities and Restrictions of Online Communication in Higher Educational System

The development of information and communication technologies, the definition of the content and direction of current policy in education, the formation of feedback channels with students - all these are the ways to increase the effectiveness of modern higher education. The partial transition of universities to the online environment is the challenge of our time. On the one hand, modern communications provide new opportunities for interaction between teachers and students. On the other hand, face the formalism and unwillingness (technical, moral, etc.) of their full application. The research aims to analyze the current state and potential of online communication between teachers and students in the higher education system. The article discusses the features of the use of new communication technologies in university teachers' activities in the interaction with students. The possibilities of modern means of communication for effective cooperation and implementation of the educational process are investigated. The problems and possibilities of using online education in crises are considered. The readiness of teachers to interact with students through modern communication technologies is analyzed. The satisfaction of students and teachers with online interaction and distance education is revealed using survey methods. The conclusions outline the problem and promising aspects of modern online communications, their impact on increasing distance education efficiency, and predicting possible options for its further use. Oscillatory disintegration of a trans-Alfvenic shock: A magnetohydrodynamic simulation

Nonlinear evolution of a trans-Alfvenic shock wave (TASW), at which the flow velocity passes over the Alfven velocity, is computed in a magnetohydrodynamic approximation. The analytical theory suggests that an infinitesimal perturbation of a TASW results in its disintegration, i.e., finite variation of the flow, or transformation into some other unsteady configuration. In the present paper, this result is confirmed by numerical simulations. It is shown that the disintegration time is close to its minimum value equal to the shock thickness divided by a relative velocity of the emerging secondary structures. The secondary TASW that appears after the disintegration is again unstable with respect to disintegration. When the perturbation has a cyclic nature, the TASW undergoes oscillatory disintegration, during which it repeatedly transforms into another TASW. This process manifests itself as a train of shock and rarefaction waves, which consecutively emerge at one edge of the train and merge at the other edge.Comment: REVTEX, 8 pages, 13 PostScript figures, uses epsfig.st

Formation of System of Patriotic Education in the Conditions of Transformation of Modern Russia

The main purpose of the study was to identify how the policy of Patriotic education should be formed in a transforming society. The author considers patriotism in the context of realities of the Soviet and modern Russian society that allows to show possibilities and restrictions of use of the Soviet experience in present conditions. The author's research was conducted by the method of focus-group discussion among experts on youth policy in 2017. the results of the expert survey recorded the vagueness of the content of the category of "patriotism", which does not allow it to become an effective tool of social policy of the Russian state. At the same time, the actualization of the formation of patriotism as a sense of love for the Motherland, based on personal responsibility and critical development of the history and culture of the country is revealed. The prospect of this approach should be the formation of a harmonious personality of the citizen.Основной целью исследования было выявить, каким образом должна формироваться политика патриотического воспитания в условиях трансформирующегося общества. Автор рассматривает патриотизм в контексте реалий советского и современного российского общества, что позволяет продемонстрировать возможности и ограничения использования советского опыта в нынешних условиях. Авторское исследование было проведено методом фокус-групповой дискуссии среди специалистов по молодежной политике в 2017 г. Результаты экспертного опроса зафиксировали размытость содержательного наполнения категории «патриотизм», что не позволяет ему стать действенным инструментом социальной политики российского государства. При этом выявлена актуализированность формирования патриотизма как чувства любви к Родине, основанном на личной ответственности и критическом освоении истории и культуры своей страны. Перспективой данного подхода должно стать формирование гармоничной личности гражданина

Влияние цифровизации бизнеса на финансовые показатели российских компаний

Digitalization is one of the most urgent problems for Russia; companies need to gain a competitive advantage, increase their efficiency and improve business performance. The aim of the study is to identify the relationship between the financial performance of Russian companies and the degree of digitalization of their business processes. Operating profit was chosen as the main financial indicator reflecting the results of the current core activities of the companies. To calculate the digitalization index, McKinsey information data was taken on six parameters: digital marketing, digital product experience, e-commerce, electronic customer relationship management (E-CRM), social networks. The authors used regression analysis of data from 482 companies from 20 industries for the period 2017–2019 as a research method for testing the hypotheses. The findings of the study revealed that the digitalization index has a positive effect on the operational efficiency of companies, but the degree of influence differs depending on the industry, age, and size of the enterprise. The authors concluded that the greatest effect from digitalization is observed among companies with traditionally high digital maturity. These are companies from the financial, technology, or communications industry, where business digitalization is vital and where a slowdown in digital transformation processes can push such enterprises far back in the ranking. Assessing the impact of digitalization of Russian companies on their operational activities will allow the management of companies to choose the right strategy in matters of digital transformation, which will ensure the company’s competitiveness, increase its efficiency and contribute to its development. On a national scale, the results of this study can help decide which industries should be subsidized for digital innovation.Цифровизация является для России одной из наиболее актуальных проблем, она необходима компаниям для получения конкурентных преимуществ, повышения их эффективности и улучшения бизнес-показателей. Цель исследования — выявить зависимость между финансовыми показателями российских компаний и степенью цифровизации их бизнес-процессов. В качестве основного финансового показателя выбрана операционная прибыль, которая отражает результаты текущей основной деятельности компаний. Для расчета индекса цифровизации взяты информационные данные компании McKinsey на основе шести измерений: цифровой маркетинг, опыт работы с цифровыми продуктами, электронная коммерция, электронное управление взаимоотношениями с клиентами (E-CRM), социальные сети. В качестве метода исследования для тестирования выдвинутых гипотез использован регрессионный анализ данных 482 компаний из 20 отраслей за период 2017–2019 гг. В результате исследования выявлено, что индекс цифровизации положительно влияет на операционную эффективность компаний, однако степень влияния разная в зависимости от индустрии, возраста и размера предприятия. Сделан вывод, что наибольший эффект от цифровизации наблюдается среди предприятий с традиционно высокой цифровой зрелостью. Это компании из отрасли финансов, технологий или связи, где цифровизация бизнеса жизненно необходима и где замедление процессов в цифровой трансформации может переместить такие предприятия далеко назад в рейтинге. Оценка влияния цифровизации российских компаний на их операционную деятельность позволит менеджменту компаний выбрать правильную стратегию в вопросах цифровых преобразований, которая обеспечит конкурентоспособность компании, повысит ее финансовую эффективность и будет способствовать ее развитию. В масштабе всей страны результаты данного исследования могут помочь принятию решений о том, какие отрасли субсидировать на цифровые инновации и стоит ли это делать
