In the process of heating steel the processes of chemical interaction occur between the furnace atmosphere and the surface of the steel being heated. Great importance, in aspect of course of the oxidizing process equal as well as for phenomenon of scale adhesion on the charge surface, condition of his surface has. Roughness is parameter defining condition of surface. The methodology of investigations of scale adhesion in work was presented. The methodology of measurement of roughness surface was introduced. Influence of surface roughness on the scale adhesion was described. The paper presents correlation of the scale adhesion but roughness of surface

The paper presents the results of research on the influence of the efficiency of a metallurgical heating furnace on the adhesion of scale formed during the heating process of the steel charge. The methodology for measuring the adhesion of scale to the steel substrate as well as the measurement stand by means of which the research plan was carried out were presented. In addition, the method for determining the heating curves for selected furnace performance and measurement results are presented. The calculation results demonstrating the effect of efficiency on scale adhesion are summarized

Effect of heating technology on scale adhesion in the steel charge heating process

The adhesion of scale to the steel substrate is an important parameter in the charge heating process before plastic processing. A low value of adhesion adversely affects the operation of heating furnaces, while too high value causes the scale to roll into a steel product and deteriorate its purity and quality. The paper presents the methodology of adhesion determination and the results obtained on the basis of the presented methodology. The influence of heating technology on adhesion for constant furnace efficiency and different values of excess air ratio is discussed. The furnace efficiency and the excess air ratio are the basic parameters of the process. It is extremely important in the context of the challenges of optimizing production processes, which in turn is an important element of the circular economy

Experimental measurements of scale adhesion for a pre-oxidized steel charge

In industrial practice, the charge is heated before the forming process and often reaches the furnace “cold”. This means that after leaving the continuous casting of steel, for various reasons it is not heated immediately, but stored instead. This causes not only the cooling of the charge but also its oxidation in the atmosphere of the surrounding air. The paper presents the research methodology and discusses the results of adhesion measurements for a preoxidized steel charge

In many industries the demand for very fine material increases. In the metallurgical industry, for example, there is increasing use of the production of high density metal elements with the use of metallurgical powder composites. The use of powder composites requires prior their grinding. Unfortunately, the very fine grinding is not an easy process. The using for this purpose fluidized-bed jet mill was proposed in the paper. The attempts of grinding of metallurgical powder were carried out in the fluidized-bed jet mill. After the experiment analyses of particle size distribution of grinding products were performed. The results are presented in graphs. Analyses of the obtained results concluded that the grinding of very fine metallurgical composite is possible and produces positive results
