As economic globalization intensifies antagonism and makes an environment of constant transform, winning and keeping customers has become all the more significant. Nowadays banks have realized that cost of attracting a new customer is much more than retaining existing customers, so banks are emphasizing more upon customer satisfaction. These days customers demand for top quality services and products served with minimum wait time, so customers prefer techno- savvy banks as well bankers. At this backdrop, the main problem today before the commercial banks, more particularly the public sector banks in Bangladesh which were earlier operating in a sheltered regime after nationalization, is their long-run survival, tapping quality customers and forging way ahead by retaining their valued customers. The current research paper attempts to make a comparative analysis of level of customer satisfaction towards services provided by public and private sector banks. The study has been conducted in 5 cities. This study is based on questionnaire method. A sample of 500 customers has been selected using convenient sampling method. The statistical tests are conducted at 5% and 1% level of significant the main statistical tools are used. This study concluded that private sector banks are more preferred by majority of the customer as they emphasize more upon relationship building with their clients and are better equipped with modern infrastructure as compared to public sector banks. Background: Transition from the pediatric to adult health care system is an important phase of healthcare for youth with cerebral palsy (CP). Sexuality and gender are two very important components of health that are mostly ignored in the healthcare transition process. It is possible that health care providers only see a client’s disability, and therefore, key aspects of sexuality and gender diversity may be ignored, or deemed irrelevant as a result of their disability status. Therefore, the purpose of our study is to explore how gender and sexuality may influence the experience of health care transition for youth with cerebral palsy. Method: This is a qualitative study guided by van Manen’s phenomenology of practice (van Manen, 2014). van Manen\u27s phenomenological approach is a form of qualitative study approach which is grounded in life experiences and gives attention to the day-to-day life and it is very well suited for studying health care realities. The study population was youth with CP and Health care providers who are directly connected with the health care transitioning experience of the youth with CP. Results: Six main themes emerged from the participants narratives; 1) current state of gender identity and sexuality in CP, 2) knowledge and curiosity about gender identity & sexuality among youth with CP, 3) challenges with sexuality and gender identity, 4) societal influence and pressure, 5) sexual health support during healthcare transition, and 6) opportunities for change. Implication for practice: The findings suggest that incorporating conversations about sexuality and gender identity during health care transition is important because there is curiosity and lack of knowledge about sexuality and gender identity among youth with CP. It also suggests that increased training and education for health care providers will encourage these discussions and increase support to youth with CP

Assessing Service Quality Using SERVQUAL Model: An Empirical Study on Some Private Universities in Bangladesh

    Get PDF
The increased competitive academic environment pushes higher institutions to improve their service quality for meeting the market demands. It is thus necessary to assess the factors that satisfy students and make them loyal to the university. This study has focused on assessing service quality, using the SERVQUAL Model to measure students’ satisfaction with private universities in Bangladesh. In the study, the primary data collection method through a questionnaire with the 5-point Likert scale was adopted to collect data from 229 students who are currently studying in different private universities in Chattogram, Bangladesh. Structural equation modeling (SEM) has been performed to analyze the data through the AMOS 22 statistical package. The findings report that a comfortable lecture room under the tangible dimension, providing service on time under the reliability dimension, the capacity of administrative staff to solve immediate problems under the responsiveness dimension, proficient lecturers for teaching and research under the assurance dimension, and focus of university management on students under the empathy dimension have a great influence on student satisfaction. The study concludes that managers and authorities of private universities must focus on ensuring better service quality as student satisfaction largely affects the sustainability and recurrence development of the institutions

Weak Organic Acid Modified Granular Activated Carbon and Ceria Nanomaterial Embedded Graphene Oxide for Drinking Water Fluoride Removal

Excess fluoride (F?) in drinking water leads to detrimental health effects including dental and skeletal fluorosis. More than 260 million people worldwide are affected by excess fluoride (>1.5 mg/L) in their drinking water. In this three-phase study, we have used modified activated carbon and cerium oxide nanomaterials for aqueous fluoride removal. The overarching goal of this research was to develop cost-effective drinking water fluoride removal technologies. In Phase I, a citric acid (0.3 M) modified granular activated carbon (CAGAC) was effectively used to remove >70% of aqueous fluoride within 60 min. The maximum adsorption capacity of CAGAC was two times (1.65 mg/g) that of unmodified GAC (0.88 mg/g). To address the need for defluoridation technologies adaptable in rural and socio-economically challenged communities, commonly available lime (Citrus aurantiifolia) juice was used in lieu of citric acid in Phase II of this research. The lime modified GAC (LGAC) showed an adsorption capacity of 1.63 mg/g. Both CAGAC and LGAC worked effectively over a wide range of pH (4-8) even though the point-of-zero-charge (PZC) was 4.89 for CAGAC and 3.05 for LGAC indicating that the fluoride removal was not controlled by electrostatic interaction alone, both surface adsorption and intra-particle diffusion also took part. In Phase III, graphene oxide-ceria (GO-CeO2) nanohybrid was used for fluoride removal as the activated carbon-based systems were slow in kinetics. The nanohybrid exhibited ultra-rapid kinetics for fluoride removal. The equilibrium (85% removal of 10 mg F?/L) was achieved within 1 minute which is the fastest kinetics for fluoride removal reported so far. The maximum fluoride adsorption capacity of GO-CeO2 nanohybrid was 8.61 mg/g at pH 6.5 and that increased to 16.05 mg/g at pH 4. The experimental results and characterization data indicated that both electrostatic interaction and surface complexation participated in the fluoride removal process. The oxygen ions present in CeO2 lattice were replaced by fluoride ions to make a stable CeF3 complex. During fluoride removal, the GO sheets acted as electron mediators and helped to reduce Ce4+ to Ce3+ at the CeO2 NPs-GO interface, and the additional Ce3+ enhanced fluoride removal by the nanohybrid

Phenotypic Plasticity of Vegetable Amaranth, Amaranthus tricolor L. under a Natural Climate

The plastic responses of fifteen Amaranthus tricolor L. cultivars to the natural climatic conditions across successive two years were investigated. The interactions between cultivars and climates showed significant effects on all variables examined. SAT-072 cultivar showed the lowest plasticity in both years. Principle component analysis revealed three components (PCs) associated with 67% of the total variation (PC1 = 36%, PC2 = 19%, PC3 = 12%). PC1 includes leaf color attribute a*(red pigment), and photosynthetic pigments (chlorophyll a, chlororphyll b, total chlorophyll), while PC2 accounts for leaf color attribute b* (yellow pigment), betacyanins, betaxanthins and betalains. Canonical discriminant analysis (CDA) was an effective method for clear separation or grouping of cultivars that may promote effective management and utilization in crop-breeding programmes. Overall, these findings suggest the necessity of further study to enrich amaranth cultivars with desirable traits
