The purpose of this study to determine Hacettepe University's students relationships' believes and factors which effects to these believes. According to this purpose, two questions were presented in this study: 1. Does university students' general relationships' believes', helplessness, unlovability grade averages differ according to gender and relationship which she/he had before? 2. Is there any significant relationship between university students' general relationships' believes', helplessness, unlovability grade averages and relationship's duration? Method: The study was conducted 159 students who study at Hacettepe University, in period of fall semester in 2012-2013 academic years. The participants were comprised of 110 women, 48 men. Relationship Belief Inventory was used in this study which was adapted in Turkish by Kalkan and Personal Information Form which was developed by researchers. Additionally, independent sample t-test and Pearson product-moment correlation were analysis methods which were used for analyzing the data. Findings: According to this research's results, it was determined that there was significant difference between gender and students' general relationship believes' (p.05, t=572), helplessness (p>.05, t=948), unlovability grade averages (p>.05, t=443). On the other hand, there was negative and significant correlations between relationship's duration and university students' general relationship believes (r=-0,172, p.05). (C) 2015 The Authors. Cutaneous allergic reactions due to drug intake may be triggered by many types of drugs such as atropine, anticonvulsants and benzodiazepines. But allergic reactions due to benzodiazepines are extremely rare. Alprazolam is a benzodiazepine which may be useful for refractory idiopathic urticaria due to antihistaminergic effect. Although antihistaminergic effect of alprazolam, a cold urticaria case and an angioedema case induced by alprazolam are known in the literature. In the case, we present a child suffering from cutaneous allergic reaction due to alprazolam at the first dose taken

The aim of the present study was to calculate maternal mortality rates by analyzing pregnancy-related death cases in Samsun over the last 20 years, to identify causes of death and preventability, and to examine the change over the years. The Samsun Provincial Health Directorate's pregnancy-related mortality data from 2002 to 2021 were examined retrospectively. Causes of maternal death were classified as direct, indirect, undecided, and incidental. The maternal mortality rate was calculated as the number of maternal deaths per 100,000 live births. Between 2002 and 2021, Samsun experienced a total of 344,324 live births juxtaposed with 79 pregnancy-related deaths. The computed maternal mortality rate is 19.16 per 100,000 live births across the two-decade span. Detailed analysis reveals that 30 deaths (38%) were attributable to direct causes, 31 (39.2%) to indirect causes, 13 (16.5%) were incidental, and 5 (6.3%) remained inconclusive post-autopsy. A breakdown of the direct causes unveils obstetric bleeding as the primary culprit (18.2%), trailed by cardiovascular diseases (13.6%). Moreover, incidental causes, represented by traffic accidents, account for a 7.6% fatality rate. While the observed decline in maternal deaths, particularly from preventable direct causes, over the previous twenty years signifies the efficacy of the instated health policies, the persistent mortality underscores the imperative for ongoing research and strategy recalibration. Identifying fluctuations in causative factors through comparative analyses is pivotal in strategizing future preventive studies on pregnancy-related deaths. The results advocate a pronounced emphasis on continuous professional development to curtail mortalities from avoidable sources, especially postpartum hemorrhage, thereby fortifying existing health policies with reinforced, data-driven interventions. Use of Three-Dimensional MRI-Angiography in Preoperative Evaluation and Postoperative Management of Hemangiomas of Head and Neck Region

WOS: 000295398700059PubMed: 21959441Hemangiomas (proliferating endothelial tumors) are the most common benign tumors of infancy. Most often hemangiomas are self-regressing lesions without any treatment. Approximately 10% of hemangiomas cause complications such as major ulceration/destruction, distortion of involved tissues, and obstruction of a vital structure. When the situation becomes complicated, there are different treatment alternatives, ranging from systemic or local corticosteroid use to surgery. Sclerotherapy using intralesional polidocanol (Aethoxysklerol) injection may be used before surgery to decrease blood loss or when a vital structure of the face is in danger because of sudden increase in size of a surrounding hemangioma. Before any kind of treatment for both hemangiomas and vascular malformations, pre-operative diagnosis and anatomic position of the lesion must be documented thoroughly. With the help of magnetic resonance imaging, tridimensional vascular pattern of such lesions can be shown successfully. We used three-dimensional contrast-enhanced time-resolved magnetic resonance angiography to detect the changes of lesions for 2 children who have large hemangiomas on their faces, before and after sclerotherapy with polidocanol injection. The findings of three-dimensional magnetic resonance imaging studies help to better assess the success rate of treatment not only for us as the physicians but also for the parents of these children who cannot understand anything with standard two-dimensional radiologic imaging

Assembly of a heptameric STRIPAK complex is required for coordination of light-dependent multicellular fungal development with secondary metabolism in Aspergillus nidulans

Eukaryotic striatin forms striatin-interacting phosphatase and kinase (STRIPAK) complexes that control many cellular processes including development, cellular transport, signal transduction, stem cell differentiation and cardiac functions. However, detailed knowledge of complex assembly and its roles in stress responses are currently poorly understood. Here, we discovered six striatin (StrA) interacting proteins (Sips), which form a heptameric complex in the filamentous fungus Aspergillus nidulans. The complex consists of the striatin scaffold StrA, the Mob3-type kinase coactivator SipA, the SIKE-like protein SipB, the STRIP1/2 homolog SipC, the SLMAP-related protein SipD and the catalytic and regulatory phosphatase 2A subunits SipE (PpgA), and SipF, respectively. Single and double deletions of the complex components result in loss of multicellular light-dependent fungal development, secondary metabolite production (e.g. mycotoxin Sterigmatocystin) and reduced stress responses. sipA (Mob3) deletion is epistatic to strA deletion by supressing all the defects caused by the lack of striatin. The STRIPAK complex, which is established during vegetative growth and maintained during the early hours of light and dark development, is mainly formed on the nuclear envelope in the presence of the scaffold StrA. The loss of the scaffold revealed three STRIPAK subcomplexes: (I) SipA only interacts with StrA, (II) SipB-SipD is found as a heterodimer, (III) SipC, SipE and SipF exist as a heterotrimeric complex. The STRIPAK complex is required for proper expression of the heterotrimeric VeA-VelB-LaeA complex which coordinates fungal development and secondary metabolism. Furthermore, the STRIPAK complex modulates two important MAPK pathways by promoting phosphorylation of MpkB and restricting nuclear shuttling of MpkC in the absence of stress conditions. SipB in A. nidulans is similar to human suppressor of IKK-ε(SIKE) protein which supresses antiviral responses in mammals, while velvet family proteins show strong similarity to mammalian proinflammatory NF-KB proteins. The presence of these proteins in A. nidulans further strengthens the hypothesis that mammals and fungi use similar proteins for their immune response and secondary metabolite production, respectively
