AMCIS - Impact of cloud computing adoption on firm stock price - An empirical research
In this paper, we investigate how cloud computing adoption impacts publicly traded 26 cloud&adopting companies\u27 stocks. In an effort to perform a valid assessment of a firm\u27s cloud adoption initiatives, we also evaluate the stocks of 26 companies, which did not adopt cloud computing and operate in the same industry with similar market capitalization. Our study differs from the previous studies in the area because it uses Fama&French three factor model to d erive the stock abnormal returns for both adopters and non&adopters. Furthermore, given the announced risks of cloud computing in the literature, we analyzed the stock risk between adopters and non&ad opters. Our preliminary analysis implies that businesses adopting cloud computing experience positive cumulative abnormal returns during the time the event was announced. Our research also indicates that both cloud adopting and non&cloud adopting companies suffer from higher stock risk during the announcement but this risk is not statistically significant
Understanding the Influence of Espoused Culture on Acceptance of Online Services in a Developing Country
The acceptance of any technology in developing countries cannot be taken for granted given the fact that these technologies are imported from developed countries and may had been designed without any consideration of the cultural values of the developing countries. Information technology acceptance and the influence of espoused national cultural values on its acceptance have been investigated in the developed countries but such studies are rare in developing countries. The present study surveyed 201 Nigerians using constructs from established models with the aim of understanding the influence of some espoused national cultural values on acceptance of online services. The results indicate that espoused national cultural values seem to moderate the effect of some of the independent variables. In particular, Power Distance has a positive influence on âperceived usefulness-satisfactionâ relationship; Masculinity/Femininity has a negative influence on âease of use-satisfactionâ relationship and a positive influence on âinformation/system quality-satisfactionâ relationship. Individualism/Collectivism and Uncertainty Avoidance also indicate significant moderating effects on the relationship of âinformation/system quality-satisfaction.â The resulting model is fairly significant with R2 = 0.67 for userâs satisfaction and R2 = 0.51 for usersâ behavioral intention to continue to use the online services. The implications of the findings are discussed

The need for replacement of fossil fuel with more efficient fuels that are eco-friendly and renewable (biodiesel) was the basis for the present study. Luffa cylindrica seed oil (LCSO) was extracted through solvent extraction using petroleum ether as a solvent between 60 and 80 C The produced oil was used for the production of biodiesel (LCBD) via two-stage transesterification. The percentage yield of the extracted oil and biodiesel were 17.3 and 18.8 % respectively. The physico-chemical properties were within ASTM recommended values, indicating a quality fuel production. GC-MS chromatograms of LCSO and LCBD indicated the presence of acridine,9-anilino acid, 11-octadecanoic acid, (methyl ester), methyl stearate and benz (a) anthracene, 6,7,12-trimethyl, 15-octadecanoic acid, methyl ester, methyl stearate, eicosanoic acid, serine methyl ester, and N-[2-oxo-4-phenylbutyryl]. Also, IR spectroscopy analyses of LCSO and LCBD revealed the presence of O-H, C-H, C=O, O-C, =C-H and C-N in LCSO and N-H, O-H, C-H, C=O, C-O, C-N, =C-H stretches in LCBD. The study drew results and findings and concluded that Luffa cylindricaseed oil is an excellent feed stock for the production of biodiesel.
