The research based on the lack of write interesting especially in description text writing at SMK Nasional Bandung. It is due to some difficulties about linguistic and non linguistic problems for students. Based on UNDP (United Nations Development Programme or Badan Program Pembangunan PBB) research about IPM (Index Pembangunan Manusia) which is one of the assesment indicators is the result of adult writing tests. According to them, the quality of human resources in 2007 was the 107th rank of 169 countries. Therefore, researcher want to test multimodal-based visual skills approach in description text writing. The research method used experiment quasi and the research data collected by written test, teachers observation sheet, students observation sheet, interview, and students response. The research result showed that there was an increase before and after treatment. The researcher suggest to conduct more in-depth research in terms of aspect with different learning media and longer sample so that multimodal-based visual skills in description text could be developed

Unequal Development in the 1990s: Growing Gaps in Human Capabilities
Questions about global income inequality inspire some of the most contentious debates among not only academics but politicians and the public at large. People look to data on income inequality as they might a stock market index to gauge how the world is doing. Are things on the right track? Is enough being done? In this age of globalization, the question is inevitably about whether 'Globalisation' – meaning liberalisation of economies and the integration of global trade and capital flows – brings prosperity or not. The controversies raging today over the many studies coming to different conclusions depend on how the questions are asked, and which data series are used. Such debates indicate little more than how economists and statisticians can find many answers to the seemingly same questions. More fundamentally, these debates mask attention on the growing disparities in human lives
World human development : 1870-2007
How has wellbeing evolved over time and across regions? How does the West compare to the Rest? What explains their differences? These questions are addressed using an historical index of human development. A sustained improvement in wellbeing has taken place since 1870. The absolute gap between OECD and the Rest widened over time, but an incomplete catching up –largely explained by education- has occurred since 1913 but fading away after 1970, when the Rest fell behind the OECD in terms of longevity. As the health transition was achieved in the Rest, the contribution of life expectancy to human development improvement declined. Meanwhile, in the OECD, as longevity increased, healthy years expanded. A large variance in human development is noticeable in the Rest since 1970, with East Asia, Latin America and North Africa catching up to the OECD, while Central and Eastern Europe and Sub-Saharan Africa falling behin
