A New Linear Printed Vivaldi Antenna Array with Low Side Lobe Level and High Gain for the Band 3.5 GHz

    Get PDF
This paper proposes a new design of low sidelobe level (SLL) and high gain linear printed Vivaldi antenna array. The array composes of two parts, which are a linear Vivaldi antenna array and a back reflector. The array consists of 10 single Vivaldi antennas and a series-fed network, those are based on Roger RO4003C substrate (ε = 3.55) with the dimension of 140 x 450 x 1.524 mm3. A new Bat algorithm with the amplitude-only control technique has been applied to optimize the output coefficients of the series-fed network for gaining a low SLL. The simulation results indicate that the proposed antenna provides a low SLL of -29.2 dB in E-plane with a high gain of 16.5 dBi at the frequency of 3500 MHz. A prototype of the proposed antenna array has been fabricated. The measured data has a good agreement with the simulated data

Entanglement Criterion for Bipartite Quantum States: Applications

    Get PDF
In this paper, we use a criterion provided by E. Shchukin and W. Vogel [Phys. Rev. Lett. 95, 230502 (2005)] for determining when a bipartite quantum state is entangled. We first show that the entanglement criterion is necessary and sufficient condition for the partial transposition of the bipartite quantum states. Furthermore, previously known entanglement criteria are proved to be special cases of this criterion. We then apply the entanglement criterion to determine entangled property of several non-classical two-mode states. Finally, we provide the conclusion about this criterion

Edge Effects of Truncated Dirac Solitons in Binary Waveguide Arrays

    Get PDF
We investigate the edge effects of the optical analogue of the quantum relativistic Dirac solitons in binary waveguide arrays with Kerr nonlinearity when one tail of the Dirac soliton is truncated. We show that if the outermost waveguide of the binary waveguide array hosts the intense component of the truncated Dirac soliton, then Dirac soliton will be repeatedly bent towards the binary waveguide array edge. In the contrast, if the outermost waveguide of the binary waveguide array hosts the weak component of the truncated Dirac soliton, then Dirac soliton will be pushed away from the binary waveguide array edge. To the best of our knowledge, these unique features have not been found in any other systems

For those learning a second language, vocabulary plays a vital role in mastering the new one, and possessing a colossal vocabulary is extremely necessary. The paper aims to look into and assess students' awareness of morphology and the effectiveness of this approach through vocabulary learning. The subjects in this study were juniors majoring in English at a university in the south of Vietnam. The test, questionnaire, and interview were the three instruments used in this study to triangulate the results. A total of 49 students majoring in English Studies took the test, 40 students completed the questionnaire, and four students participated in an interview to evaluate their proficiency and morphological knowledge. The results of the study showed that students' awareness levels were average, and they were knowledgeable enough to employ this strategy for acquiring vocabulary. Additionally, it also enables students to comprehend morphology's benefits and drawbacks during their learning vocabulary process.  Article visualizations

One-pot preparation of alumina-modified polysulfone-graphene oxide nanocomposite membrane for separation of emulsion-oil from wastewater

    Get PDF
In recent years, polysulfone-based nanocomposite membranes have been widely used for contaminated water treatment because they comprise properties such as high thermal stability and chemical resistance. In this study, a polysulfone (PSf) nanocomposite membrane was fabricated using the wet-phase inversion method with the fusion of graphene oxide (GO) and alumina (Al2O3) nanoparticles. We also showed that GO-Al2O3 nanoparticles were synthesised successfully by using a one-pot hydrothermal method. The nanocomposite membranes were characterised by Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), nitrogen adsorption-desorption isotherms, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and water contact angle. The loading of GO and Al2O3 was investigated to improve the hydrophilic and oil rejection of the matrix membrane. It was shown that by using 1.5 wt.% GO-Al2O3 loaded in polysulfone, ~74% volume of oil was separated from the oil/water emulsion at 0.87 bar and 30 min. This figure was higher than that of the process using the unmodified membrane (PSf/GO) at the same conditions, in which only ~60% volume of oil was separated. The pH, oil/water emulsion concentration, separation time, and irreversible fouling coefficient (FRw) were also investigated. The obtained results suggested that the GO-Al2O3 nanoparticles loaded in the polysulfone membrane might have potential use in oily wastewater treatment applications

HIGH PERFORMANCE LIQUID CHROMATOGRAPHY ASSAY FOR DETERMINATION OF MOXIFLOXACIN IN HUMAN PLASMA

    Get PDF
A simple reversed phase HPLC method with UV detection has been successfully developed and validated for determination of moxifloxacin in human plasma. The sample pretreatment involves only single-step protein precipitation with tricloroacetic acid. Moxifloxacin was measured in plasma using a validated HPLC method with UV detector at 295 nm, C18 column (25cm×4.5mm, 5µm), a mixture of phosphate buffer pH 4.0 and acetonitrile (70:30, v/v) as mobile phase at a flow rate of 0.8 ml/min. Retention time of moxifloxacin was found to be 7.4 min. The mean recovery for the drug was obtained 97.30%. The calibration curve was linear over the concentration range of 0.3 to 25.0 µg/mL with coefficient correlation of 0.9991. This method was successfully applied for therapeutic drug monitoring

Multichannel Photon Counting Lidar Measurements Using USB-based Digital Storage Oscilloscope

    Get PDF
We present a simple method of making multichannel photon counting measurements of weak lidar signal from large ranges, using commonly available USB-based digital storage oscilloscopes. The single photon pulses from compact photomultiplier tubes are amplified and stretched so that the pulses are large and broad enough to be sampled efficiently by the USB oscilloscopes. A software interface written in Labview is then used to count the number of photon pulses in each of the prescribed time bins to form the histogram of LIDAR signal. This method presents a flexible alternative to the modular multichannel scalers and facilitate the development of sensitive lidar systems

A Simplified Double-Bundle Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction by the Three-Inside Technique With Two Suspension Buttons and One Interference Screw

    Get PDF
In comparison with the single-bundle technique, double-bundle anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction has proven its superiority regarding biomechanical studies and clinical outcomes in both rotational knee stability and anterior translation function. However, the complexity and risk of complications remain a great concern for the orthopaedic surgeon performing double-bundle ACL reconstruction. We present a simplified double-bundle ACL reconstruction by the 3-inside technique with 2 suspension buttons and 1 interference screw. The semitendinosus tendon is tripled to be the anteromedial (AM) bundle, whereas the gracilis is doubled for the posterolateral (PL) bundle. We perform a 3-socket approach with an inside-out femoral tunnel for the AM bundle, an outside-in femoral tunnel for the PL bundle, and a retrograde tibial socket for the tibial bundle. Thus, this technique is, simply, a combination of 2 procedures: one single all-inside method (for the AM bundle) and one outside-in method (for the PL bundle), with which most arthroscopic surgeons are familiar. The AM and PL bundles are fixed at 30° and 45°, respectively, using 2 suspension buttons and 1 interference screw. Our simplified technique could reduce surgical costs and minimize complications while maintaining isometric position and appropriate graft size for each patient
